So tell me again why I can't marry a Khajiit or Wood Elf?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 2:53 am

Dear Bethesda,

Okay Bethesda, help me out here. I know this marriage thing is kind of new for you guys and all, and I really do appreciate you adding it into Skyrim. I love Skyrim so hardcoe btw, this game is AMAZING in SO many different ways and honestly this complaint is first thing that has truly angered me.

But seriously?

I can marry an Argonian...a freaking lizard/dinosaur (no offense to any Argonian lovers out there, i totally think they're awesome) but Not the Khajiit or Wood Elves?! Why the hell is that? There's like 50 freaking Nord bachelors and bachelorettes, High Elves, Dark Elves (ew btw), Argonians, Orcs (also ew), Imperials, Redguards, and Bretons. But not a Khajiit or Wood Elf.

I'm happy for the wide range of other candidates that are available but I just really want to know if there was a specific reason why those two races were left out. Did you guys run out of time, did you just not think about it, or just didn't care? I'm just curious and a bit disappointed. Khajiit and Wood Elves are my favorite races ~ <3 And it saddens me that I cannot marry them in-game. Please help me out with understanding why they were left out of the list.

Yours truly,

Menelri the Wood Elf

I'll admit it is kinda lame, as I've finally settled on a Bosmer Thief that I'll be playing for many, many hours. In the end I just decided that my character will have the "looking out for number one and the Guild, no time for marriage" sort of mentality.

I think it works for that sort of character, but I can certainly see how it would be a disappointment for others.

Not a lot of woodelves stinking up skyrim if you haven't noticed.
Canabalism is frowned upon by the nords.
And why would you want a wife that might end up eating you?

And Kajhiits aren't allowed in the temple of Mara. (They even have to use seperate water fountains i hear.)
Besides all Kajhiits that are in Skyrim are there on business, either caravaning, mage collaging, or highway manning. They all have lives back home to get back to.

The whole cannibalism thing is pretty weird. Beth should just retcon that detail. Or maybe they could have more Bosmer in Skyrim who have left Valenwood because they don't agree with the whole cannibalism deal.

There is only 1 Redguard option. So that's hardly a lot. But I do agree with the lack of Bosmer and Khajiit. With 62 options, it was no reason for any of the races to be left out.

That doesn't happen. Bosmer eat their fallen enemies and their dead relatives...AFTER they've died. Of course they might not even do this anymore...we haven't really had any recent information on them.

I too lament the fact that there are no Wood Elves to marry. They are my favorite race and I am playing one right now (a really cute one I might add). And I really like Khajiit too so it's a double whammy for me too. Too many Nords to marry.

It's looks like that prejudice from Oblivion is alive and well in Skyrim...remember the comments NCPs would make in Oblivion about how they would rather sleep with their horse than a Bosmer? (rage and seethe)

My female Nord is head over heels for Kharjo the caravan guard but he won't even look at her.

Not fair :( :(

hey, i missed spelled cannibalism... But yeah those little details add to the depth of he races.

Redguards destroyed yokuda
Nords are mostly "C" students at best
Bretons have mer fever
Imperials have shed more blood in the name of peace that any other race.
Argonians are lizards that evolved from trees and have "Borg" sense of oneness.
Kahjiits are all addicted to cocaine and basically Elswyr is a dryer brazil.
Orcs are cured Altmer
Altmer are... tall, and notoriously sadistic
Dunmer believe deceit is a virtue and assassination is politics (not to mention slaverowners),
Bosmer just so happen to eat other bosmer on occasion

Really the Sload are the only 'people' who have no baggage that comes with their bloodlines.

What makes you say this? The accents? I think the "baggage" for Nords is that they're generally too nationalistic and often prejudiced, though not as much as the Altmer.

I would kind of understand the whole "no Khajiit or Wood Elf" thing if there was a legitimate reason for it. I didn't know about the fact that Khajiit are not allowed into the Temple of Mara, but couldn't they have their Own marriage traditions or something? Like how the Argonians need a ring with three flawless gems in it to represent the wife, husband, and the Hist or whatever they call it.

Just because all the NPCs in Skyrim are racist bastards (well most of them anyway) doesn't mean that the Player has to be too. I'd like to think of my Wood Elf as being a sneaky, thieving, little assassin who still has an open-mind about all other races. There are so many NPCs that say mean things to my character just because she's a wood elf, I would personally really appreciate the option to marry another wood elf who won't insult me every time i walk past them. -_-

If your are one of those races than you should be allowed (MOD's because beth could not spend 10 years on one game), otherwise its bestiality. LOL

My Wood Elf would marry yours if she was interested. Not only are there no marriageable Bosmer in the game there are very few female ones at all. At least that I have seen...maybe I am missing some though. But yeah, mine isn't married yet and I don't know if he ever will be.

If you have found ANY interactable or friendly Wood Elf female NPCs, let me know where. I only want to confirm for myself that there are in fact female Bosmer besides the Bandit ones.

I am a little :sadvaultboy: due to there only being one Redguard female in-game to marry, and she svcks, as she just sits in the Temple at Markarth and prays her days away. I want a SAMMICH, Anwen! Not to mention most of the attractive characters are not marriage candidates.
Two: Breton
One: Altmer, Redguard
Zero: Khajiit, Bosmer
Very few Dunmer, and only one of them doesn't look like a complete foot.
If Bethesda meant to put 75% of the marriage candidates as Nords, then they should have at least included Hroki of Markarth.

I'm a Bosmer female, but then...single player...doesn't really help y'all. Besides, I look like a deranged Romlan.

I think Bethesda only really wanted to add a basic framework for marriage and let modders improve it.

Isn't the court-wizard in Riften a female Bosmer? Do correct me if I'm wrong!

And it really is too bad, because like you said, you can marry a lizard..

Well anyone who tries to get their panties in a bundle over whether or not letting players marry a Khajiit is considered "bestiality" can go svck it. Especially considering that you can marry a lizard, they don't even have a name for that kind of thing do they?

And as for the comment about modders making something involving Khajiit marriage, I'd be all for that except that I have it for the xbox only. So unless Bethesda makes a DLC for it, I'm [censored] out of luck and I don't think that's very fair. I'm not like legitimately Angry angry at Bethesda, I'm just really disappointed and kind've sad that all the races aren't being treated equally in my opinion.

Again, it doesn't really help that the two excluded races are also my two favorites. :< And I am glad they went so far as to include same-six marriage, I guess I'll just have to settle with finding the prettiest/hottest female I can find. *sigh* TT_TT
