tell the player more

i feel like a lot of the frustrations people are having with the game are cause by how much info is hidden from the player.

like, the game does not really tell you how to max your happiness.

this is not meant to be a speculation thread to get answers to these questions.

i mostly figured all this stuff out.

my complaint is that practically nothing is told to the player except "build, collect, breed, collect, explore, fight off incidents"

but the biggest thing that bugs meis the resource drain. there is really no insight into how to build your vault. sometimes, usually just after having babies, one or more resource suddenly starts draining very quickly at an accelerated rate.

I noticed when i assign more people to the relevant room, it slows down the drain.

i originally thought the drain ,eant i had to build more rooms, which meant i needed to split all my workers up among the rooms. which meant more power consumption, which meant i neded to build more power stations which meant more people devoted to producing power.

i had 4800 power, 1600 food 1600 water max. and the food and water were always full but the power, i could never bring it above 1800, i went on a room rushing spree and actually managed to bring it up to 4000 and then i was hit by raiders 5 times in an hour and they took it all away, bringing me down to 1400 just barely in the red. i tried and tried to collect, constantly room rushing, and between the failures it was like shoveling poop against the time and the tide once in a while throws the poop back at you in your face.

its like running as fast as you can just to stay in one place.

i tried something drastic. not knowing if it would work, instead of having 25 power rooms with 1 guy in each, i demolished most of them and now have 9 power rooms with 3-4 people in each and somehow i've stabilized it again.

i suspect that, not only do the power rooms themselves drain power, but they drain power faster, the less people that are in them

the game also does not tell you that higher special stats slows the drain, which i believe to be true.

more people in the room = more total stats which = less drain

there is one tip it says "rooms consume power, people consume food and water" but, how much does each room consume? do all the rooms consume power, even the elevators? it would be nice to know ahead of time, how much more drain a room is gonna put on me before i build it.

so i think, removing all those extra rooms is what helped me to stabilize my power.

i dont have any more people working the power rooms than i did before, i just now have them all clumped together in fewer rooms instead of being spread out.

i dunno if the elevators consume power, i had built an elevator all the way to the bottom of the map even though i am not even close to filling up a third of the map. i wonder if all those unused elevators are using power, causing extra drain?

what i would really like to see is a number telling me exacly how much i am consuming per minute.

like how much food and water does each person need to sustain them? how much power do i need to sustain each room?

theres not much explanation of what the special stats do except that they "improve the relevant room" and of course, naturally everyone should now 8 strength is beter than 4 strength, but how exactly is it better? what do the stats affect?

TL:DR

bottom line, don't hide so much info from the player. help us out here.

p.s. also wondering, do the devs look at this forum?

With tech support just pushing the problem to the forums for bug problems or just sending people to Apple Store due to getting swindled out of $$$, I'm guessing no.

I honestly didnt find as frustrating as you did, the only thing i agree is that they could explain how things work a litte bit better.

The game does tell you that if a dweller works better in a specific skill it will increase that rooms efficiency wich will reflect in your time to collect resources.

That said a quick tip is that, the more and the bigger power station, water stations and food stores you have the lower the need will be for those ( the small horizontal bar in the supplies bars ? Thats how much your vault consumes before starvation, radiation or power loss)

Edit: to better understand, the stations and store size is your capacity while the dwellers are your efficiency to produce your resourcers.)

To some extent, working those things out is part of the gameplay.
