Oblivion would have been the time for this, and they missed their chance. It sounds like most of the Empire is crumbling, although I imagine there are still a few hold outs.

In Oblivion the closest you got to the Legion was as a member of the Blades .. or by snatching a legionnaires armour..

I hope you get the chance to join the Imperial Legion in Skyrim.. half of it still supports the empire after all..

Eh... the Temple? You're kidding right?
The Temple is gone! Temple is good-bye! (And they were also unique for Dunmer... it should never exist in Skyrim)
Sad... but true :(

Concerning the Imperial Legion...
How that the Empire has been slowly dying... I'm unsure. Sad but true too :(
Perhaps it would be cool to be able to join them and help them anyway.

IF he meant the tribunal temple, than yeah, that's not going to happen, the Nerevarine cast down their gods. The entire basis for the religion is dead.

Sotha Sil is dead, Amalexia is dead, and Vivec is gone. The prophets of the Tribunal temple would be all that they could pray to. St. Veloth and so forth aren't large in Skyrim. Possibly in Riften 200 years prior, but not any more.

He meant the Imperial Cult, which is what worship of the Nine Divines is. The Dunmer temple is the Tribunal, Vicec, Almalexia, Sotha Sil, Saint Veltoth....

Edit. Nevermind.

I think not being able to join the Imperial Cult in Oblivion was an oversight.

THe Imperial Cult is the missionary arm of the church. It's not really something you'd deal with in the center of NIne divines worship.

The Temple? As in, the Tribunal?

*Sits you down*

*Eyes you sympathetically and holds your gaze to ensure you're braced for the news*

I have some news you may not want to hear...

The Temple and the Imperial Cult? Well I could see the latter, but the former is either, back to ancestor worship, or the dunmer have completely given up hope and are willing to cling to anything or nothing

Here's the deal, buddy boy, the main religion in Skyrim is going to be the nordic pantheon undoubtedly, as the main quest deals with an aspect of Akatosh straight out of the nordic pantheon. Expect a ton of worship to the nord's top god, Shor, who is known as Lorkhan to the mer and Shezarr to the Cyrodiils. There will also likely worship the other good nordic gods and goddesses, the ones who fought for Shor.

As for the religion of the nine, it's a completely watered down version of the merithic pantheon, with nordic sprinkles. In it, all the gods are goody goodies, and Shezarr (the watered down version of Shor) is pretty much the god of human achievement and isn't full of hatred towards mer. Expect that if it's even in there, it'll be thrown into Imperial Cult status, but expect a lot of the nords to tolerate it at best.

Dude, the Temple is a dunmeri religion in Morrowind, which you basically brought down in TES 3. Its obvious it wont be in the game.

However, theres a possibility the Legion returns, or that you at least do work for it if you plan on taking the side of the nordic imperials in the civil conflict.

Given the context of civil war, it would be nice if you could support the Empire and optionally join the Legion in the process. However there needs to be an excuse for how independent you can be as a Legionary. In Morrowind you could join the Legion but they wouldn't ask you to go on patrol or guard a street like a normal legionary for hours because that would be boring. In Skyrim, if there is the Legion it needs to be explained why you are not expected to perform normal guard duties.

Also, the Nordic Pantheon is different than the Imperial pantheon. You have Alcuin as Akatosh, Shor as Arkay,a different version of Talos, Jhunal became Julianos, Sthun became Stendarr, Kyne is Cyrodiil's Mara, and so forth. The Imperial temple and Nordic temple, are similar, but different. ->http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Nord#Society_and_Religion

Err, you got a bunch of those gods wrong
Alduin (nord) = Akatosh (Cyrodiils) = Auri-El (mer)
Shor (nord) = Shezarr (Cyrodiils) = Lorkhan (mer)
Orkey (nord) = Arkay
Jhunal (nord) = Julianos
Sthum (nord) = Stendarr
Kyne (nord) = Kynnareth (Cyrodiils) ----To note, Kynnareth is more of a combination of Y'ffre and Kyne-----
Mauloch (nord) = Malacath (everyone else)
Ysmir (nords) = Talos (everyone else)
Mara is Mara to both

read http://www.imperial-library.info/content/morrowind-varieties-faith-empire as a decent reference.

Shor is Lorkhan
The Nords don't worship Talos
Kyne is Kynareth, Mara's name doesn't change.
I think the rest are accurate.

Edit: bah, beaten to it.

There is supposedly a Dunmer town [decedents of refugees], but how good is a religion of dead Gods? But maybe they still hold the old traditions in some ways like architecture and ancestor worship.

The Nords don't worship Talos

Well, not by the name Talos, but likely as the aspect, Ysmir. And it's likely he would be placed at the realm of Trinimac to the altmer, more of a hero god than as a god you worship like Kyne and Shor.

There will be a dunmer town in Skyrim. Indoril Nerevar was a hero who was reincarnated from death thousand years later. Vivec may be alive and the same could be said about the Nerevarine. If a hero can resurrect, why not a god (or three) from the same religion. I doubt there would be a tribunal temple in Skyrim, but it's not imposible.

Snip.

While I wasn't completely correct, I still made my point to why a significant Imperial temple/ Imperial Cult wouldn't be present in Skyrim.

The Tribunal Temple is never coming back, their gods are dead.

As Vivec informs the Nerevarine upon return to Vivec city, the Tribunal "may be honoured no longer as gods, but as saints and heroes". Vivec believes that the Temple will return to the original Dunmer faith -- "the worship of our ancestors and the three good daedra, Azura, Mephala and Boethiah"

Its no LOGICALLY impossible, buts its INCONSISTENT.

The Tribunal werent real gods. Just super powered people.

You are also missing the point I was making, which was showing the OP to be a fan boy who pays no attention to anything.

The Imperial Cult (or some other missionary faction for the Divines) would be great.
I could see making a cleric type and joining it.

although, It might be better to have a faction for each of the Divines, providing much more role play variety.
