Different IP addresses logged into the same account at the same time?

how is that any different than having a friend come over to watch a new movie I bought, or to play co op with me on some game. this is clearly a shamless scheme to force people to double up on buying crap that they can just borrow from a friend for a little while rather than spending a fortune.

Not really, not when it's my account in question. Granted, there are other things which modify that, but when it's a private account held by myself with a private company which is NOT performing illegal activities on either end, then no, they have no right to tell me what to do.

The problem with laws and measures preventing piracy is that it NEVER hurts pirates, rather it hurts individuals such as myself how don't intentionally break the law. The paying customers are the ones that get [censored] with this, not the illegal users.

the perfect example you can toss back at some one who says that burning a cd for a friend or whatever is illegal (or that sharing music... etc, is wrong and theft)

why are libraries not shut down then? libraries work exactly manually the same way that sites like napster did. the difference in what occurs is one is via electronic the other is physically going some where. I am not condoning piracy (I am just pointing out the falasy that its immoral) because the way piracy works is one person buys a cd and shares it online, a library buys a cd and checks it out to people. its the same exact thing. its technophobia pure and simple.

You can't be logged in at more than one IP at the same time I believe.

And no I don't own the content, I'm paying to be able to use it. My point is, however, that my paying to use a private companies database is not and SHOULD not be public domain, as in not regulated by Tennessee State government.

I also don't see what the difference is between my letting a friend use my account or having him come over to use said account. Will they arrest me if my friend uses my account at all, should they find out? Or is this only if he/I log in on a different IP?

And on that topic, how can they be 100% certain that I'M not the one logging in at a friend's house?

The way things are going, some of these legislative types seem to think that the onus is on you to prove that you were.

In other news, Ikea has introduced a chair licence where only those authorised to use any given chair may sit on it. Sitting on a chair where one does not have authorisation and the correct documentation to prove it will result in a fine and five million volts up your bottom.

Using hacks to pry into others' private lives?

If he has a high moral code, white hat?
If it's a business, blue hat?
If it's for lolz, black hat.

Business. I don't think its just for finding out stuff about affairs. I think he also tries to hack through people security measures to find flaws.
