Tenpenny s Journey

Post » Mon Apr 26, 2010 4:54 pm

I live in New Zealand and it makes me think if we were really bombed that badly...
I would love to have a bit more insight into how the rest of the world is affected, not necessarily a game in another country because that would be pretty unlikely, unless the game developers were super desperate, but maybe just someone that tells you
or in a starting cut scene, It would help answer a lot of questions because if Tenpenny came from England, they must be doing pretty good to be making boats capable of travelling that distance. Or more amazing... who said he used a boat?

-Edit- Didn't realise this had turned into a debate about mutated creatures...

I've always thought it strange that Tenpenny is supposed to be English, because he talks like no Englishman I've ever met. Perhaps he took on an American accent after years of living there?

That's actually fairly common.

But I don't think it's that unbelievable. They have RIDICULOUS amounts of stuff still working. It wouldn't be at all surprising to me to find a Cruise Ship or Tanker or something still operating.

I ve heard people on line from England that sound kind of like Tenpenny.

Sean Connery should have done Tenpennys voice. Though Connery is a Scotsman I believe and not English

There's a lot of ways Tenpenny could have come to DC.
As we don't know anything definite about the British Isles in the FO setting, we can't place a limit on his means of conveyance. He could have sailed, sure, but he could have come in an atomic-powered yacht. He might have come by plane. Or submarine. Who knows?

A better question would be why? Personally (this is all pure speculation), I think he's a spy. I think there was a lot more to destroying Megaton than just the view. And I wonder about his hiring of Talon Company (whose mission is said to be the destabilization of the wasteland) to kill you when he has his own troops. Then there's his interest in Ft Constantine. Makes me wonder.

this, definitely this...there's also the thought of, even if Britain is mostly OK, they may have been poor losers over there, they thought hey, we have some money, lets put it all in food and weapons and what not and go live as gods in America

Warships? We don't need no stink'n warships. This is Colin we're talking about, he's got the luck of the Irish he does. And beer, lots and lots of beer. :foodndrink:

right, he fought the kraken with his bare hands to retrieve a barrel of his homemade whiskey...he just chooses not to brag about it

If sea monsters were such a big issue wouldnt the Enclave's 200 years of living on an oil rig be plagued with encounters of the creatures?

i'm sure there was scary stuff out there...just may not necessarily care about boats and oil rigs

Not sure if they would do it on the rig, seeing as how they don't leave it for 200 years, and they would run out of materials (which is another story all together), but...
When I was stationed aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, we deep sixed everything that was waste of any sort.
Sharks and dolphins love to follow ships for this reason.

Also, due to oxidation, there would have to be some underwater PM's that take place regularly. From a carniverous sea creatures POV, that would be feeding time.
