Tenpines Bluff....Boy oh boy all 12 settles share one bed

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 4:11 am

I dont know why, but at Tenpines I have a problem with the existing shack that is there with a bed and sleeping back in it. All 12 of my settlers all pile in and stand there at night and watch two people sleep then rotate out on one mattress. This is despite me building a nice fancy 3 story compound for them with tons of beds.

I ended up ringing a bell to get them all out and built a little wood fence in front of the door so they cannot get back into the shack, but of course when I fast travel there the original two settlers are always somehow trapped in there lol

if the bed shows up as red when you try and use it, it cannot be used by you ever. might as well leave for them to use or try and delete those, then manually assign beds to everyone, then turn OFF beacon! new settlers will screw up sleeping assignments.

I think I'm having some issues with beds also. I make a nice bunkhouse, but if I QT to a settlement at night I often find all the settlers just standing in the middle of the crops. I know they can get into the bunkhouse. I've tried assigning them beds. They just don't use it.

I just want to scrap that shack and the beds in it! I just find it hilarious its like they gather to watch 2 people sleep then steal the bed when they get up. I tried assigning beds but it never seemed to work correctly but since they all have the same name I might be mixing up settlers.

I've never tried assigning beds, but once I made a two-story building in Sanctuary exclusively for my settlers and companions: bottom floor had couches, a jukebox, TV, etc., and the top floor had about 12 beds. Sometimes I'd see someone go into the building, but then it would be the middle of the night and everyone, even my companions, decided to stand either in the garden or next to my shops. I took a screenshot once since it was funny to see everyone milling around, humans, ghouls, synths, and Handies alike.

Those two stupid unscrappable beds in Tenpine Bluff will cause your happiness to drop. I finally got around it by building two frame beds in front of them and assigning the two settlers that were sleeping in them to the two frame beds instead. That seemed to fix it. I never had mystery happiness dropping for no reason at Tenpines Bluff again anyway.

Where have you built the 3 storey building? Where is it's door entrance? I built one up against the derelict house and it kept causing me problems with workbench mode being ejected every time I stood on the 3rd floor nearerest to the derelict house. When stood on the other side of the floor away from the derelict house, workbench mode resumed.

No idea if this is relevant to your issues, but for me there's some type of problem when too close to the derelict house. Pulling my entire build several feet away from the old house solved it.

I put the crops in those two dug out lines near the derelict house and put the door there and the first floor there with a mini stair leading to the 2nd floor on the dirt hill to the west. I used concrete floors since I could get it the perfect height and put another floor there and a 3rd on top. I have never had that problem, I actually also built a closed off room inside the derelict house with a stair up to a 2nd floor walkway to a 2 story building I built right to the south of the derelict building and no issues over there.

**Edit*** so what you are experiencing is you are too high and outside the workbench mode area. It happened to me when I stood on the roof of my 3rd floor made it a pain to put generators on the roof.

I put an extra floor using 4 small ones and put two beds on top of that. Only worked because I put an extra pair right inside the door stacked. Have to be careful on placement or nobody can walk in the door.

I wouldn't ask too many questions. As long as they get their work done what they do with their free time is their own business.

I got fed up with supermutants attacking that settlement all the time so I walled it in with concrete with a gate for the entrance. I have two settlers sleeping in the shed, 2 beds in a small shack and 3 more beds on a mezzanine on the concrete wall.

Those make the best walls simply because they clip into the ground. You don't end up with goofy looking floating fences and fence posts.

In one version of the game, I built up a tower from the ruined building in the back of the settlement.

I read it as 'Ten-[censored]'

The word is very uncomfortable to read.

Selters has some schedule, I the castle they tend to gather close to the radio tower at evening,

Put out some chairs and they will use them, put an bar as bonus.

At sanctuary its behind the workshop house however in santurary it looks a bit bugged as they can be there in the middle of night too.

Again putting out some chairs and some other stuff who is nice in an area you hang out and it looks better.

i always have complaints about the "bed situation" altough i have 20% more beds than settlers....so my questions

- i assume settles will find a bed themselves?

- is there a problem with that if there are a lot of settlers / beds?

- how far around will they look for a bed (need to be very close to their workplace)?

- is there a problem if beds are in the upper floor of a building instead of the first floor?
