D.Foxy: Thank you my vulpine friend. I am glad that Vols and little Brekke manage to touch such a chord in someone reading. What every writer hopes for really.
hauteecole rider: Unfortunately Vols now has a benificarius. Perhaps you might agree to become an optio instead?
It is funny, when you made the remark in your previous comment about the possible ramifications of Vols' decision, I was thinking about the last sentence of the chapter. Whenever I read it, it makes me laugh and think "Welcome to daddyhood!". Because for better or worse, Vols has now made himself into the de facto father of Brekke.
I am glad you liked Calindil. In the game Altmer are so often stereotyped as cold and haughty (or haute and cole? nah...
) I think I tend to overreact because of that, and try to write all my Altmer as being down-to-Nirn and friendly. Nerussa, Ardaline, Arayarie, and now Calindil. They are all very friendly and approachable people. Hard to believe Mankar Camoran and Mannimarco (they sure like these Man- names) come from the same race.
And yes, please appropriate any of the explanations of magic use. The same for anyone. I cannot really lay claim to any originality where it is concerned. As some others have noted, I am simply drawing heavily upon my knowledge of IRL Witchcraft to add flavor to the game.
Acadian: Thank you A. You know what they say though. Old habits die hard...
Broken-Scale (sees all): Thanks Scale. I have always liked Lex too, although they sort of portray him as a bit of a doofus in the Thieves Guild questline. In the TF he is a bit less pie-in-the-sky, and a bit more gritty. Legate Phillida thinks he is the only person who can keep order in the Waterfront, which says a lot. Audens Avidius, now that is just the type of scum that Vols would enjoy wiping off the bottom of his boot... I sometimes think of doing that corruption quest with Avidius, but with Vols rather than Teresa as the protagonist. Or perhaps the two of them (who else would Teresa turn to for help in taking down a Watch Commander after all?).
Jacki Dice: Thank you Jacki. You are right, that is pretty much Witchcraft 101. The only real deviations are a few things from ES lore, such as magicka being drawn to beings with souls. In most flavors of Witchcraft magic is believed to be part and parcel to the everything in the universe, although in some places, people, and things you can find more energy than in others.
Destri Melarg: Thank you Dest. Calindil was looking for a metaphor that he thought a street urchin could relate to, hence the garbage. Plus, he does have a sense of humor, in spite of being an Altmer.
Looks like you caught me with my hand in the cauldron! Yes indeed, that is Witchcraft I am drawing on to make magic more interesting.
All: Like many other people, I have already begun moving Teresa over to http://chorrol.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4431. I have tweaked the beginning of
Not A Hero, including some entirely new scenes, and am posting it there now.
Moving Through Darkness will receive a lesser tweaking, as I have some ideas about Bosmer spirituality I want to subtly incorporate into its past chapters. I may also write a few new chapters as well, most notably Teresa's expedition into Vilverin after
Not A Hero and and her encounter with bandits on the Ring Road a few days before the events of
Crisis Ends.
As such I will not be around here much anymore. I do not know if I will continue to post new material here after I have caught up at Chorrol. We will just have to wait and see on that. Since they lock threads here, I will obviously not be updating the old threads of the TF here. So you will have to come over to Chorrol as well to get the new and improved Teresa.
