Trailer just went live! Terminator: Genisys, directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones), opens July 1, 2015. It stars Emilia Clarke (Daenarys Targaryen) from Game of Thrones fame.
Looks like a poor rehash of the first and second movie. I turned it off after the mini-van sent a school bus hurdling into the air.
I was not real thrilled when I read the synopsis released a while back. But... Seeing this trailer, and realizing they're intentionally putting a twist on the original plot (which wasn't mentioned in said synopsis) my interest was piqued. It's being directed by one of the guys involved on Game of Thrones, and I like the cast, so I'm actually kinda interested in seeing it. I'll wait until we see more before I completely judge it, though.

I think it looks promising enough, tons of paradoxes I can think of though, glad they got rid of Bale. This will probably be better than Salvation, and maybe T3
That's not really hard to do though.
I hope Arnie doesn't blow it. I feel like he will either be really good or really bad for this movie.
I actually thought Salvation was at least mildly better than T3. Maybe not by much, and certainly nowhere near the first two, but still lol. Only thing I feel 3 had going for it was the surprisingly dark ending.
I can't even remember the ending of 3 anymore.
Yeah, and it's stuff like that, that kind of worries me, Arnie is kinda turning into those old movie stars that always has to reference his own work. It's kinda early to tell, but it's what happened to Sylvester Stallone.
Skynet succeeded in nuking the planet despite everyone's best efforts, basically. I will admit, though it's been a while since I've seen it last, seeing the start of the machine uprising was pretty well done.
He has said I'll be back in just about every single movie he's been in since The Terminator. It's his calling card practically.
Was that an old version of the Arnie terminator shooting at the younger one? Wtf is that? How does a terminator age?
The time travel factor has always made these stories somewhat stupid, why wouldn't they send a terminator back to kill her as a baby or kill her mother/grandmother/etc.? They have countless terminators, why wouldn't they divide and conquer to try killing her or her ancestors in different times at the same time, bettering the chances of success? I know I'm overthinking it but this sort of stuff bothers my brain
Perhaps time travel isn't a matter of finding a time to go back to, but really it is a set time, some kind of ripple in the fabric of time that the terminators and the humans can exploit in order to manipulate the future. Kind of like the movie/book timeline... It's a set point in history, a turning point... Then again, it could be something different entirely, because it appears that a terminator was sent back farther than previously done before, Old Arnold.... who was with Sarah for many years, and has been waiting for Kyle, and the other terminators.
As for Old man terminator, he could be a defective model... which allows for the human skin to age, or the human skin's cells degrade over time like a natural persons... causing the outside to age, while the inner workings continue to function.
I thought of the set time ripple but that doesn't seem to be the case....also I'm guessing that the young girl being carried is a young Sarah Connor which if so means that they're somewhat touching up what I'm thinking. I guess it's a wait and see how they spin all of these issues with the old Arnie and young Sarah (if that is indeed her).
Indeed, all we can do is wait... It's hard to judge the entirety of the films plot around a few key points shown in a trailer... but it does paint an interesting picture. I love time travel movies, goes all the way back to Back to The Future, and the original Terminator movie. Maybe a small band of survivors were able to send a terminator back decades before John could, and before he knew what they did, they were killed... but why didn't they stop Skynet from ever being built then? The terminator knew full well what the future held, and he could have known all the key players that were behind skynet... perhaps the future is inevitable.... maybe that's the underlying theme in the series... no matter how you struggle, how much you fight... destiny cannot be escaped.
I never like to poo poo on a movie based on the trailer but I'm probably going to watch this when it becomes available on Netflix. I'm a huge fan of the first 2 but after that its been mediocre at best.
Meh, Emilia Clarke is the only reason I would watch this movie. But seriously they should have stopped the series at 2 or 3. Anything other than that is milking the franchise.
If it's at least mildly popular, executives will find a way to milk it way, way beyond normalcy.
Looks like it's gonna be better than salvation at least.
I wasn't a big fan of 3, I thought the whole premise was stupid actually. "We can't find John Connor because he's living off the grid, so instead we are assassinating his generals". Seriously? Why the hell don't you got back to a time when you COULD find him? Like maybe go back to the date of his birth and blast away him and his mom while they're in the nursing room.
But yeah, it looks like they took the plot from the first and the second movie and mashed them together, which may be really good, or absolutely terrible.
They got a lot of work to do if they think they can beat the masterpiece of Terminator 2 though.
Looks like it's going to .. meh .. just about there.
The acting looks a bit bad just by looking at the trailer.
I don't what to say about Arnie .. i know he is old already .. but coudn't they have made him look younger? ..
