Terraria Thread II

Post » Wed Sep 15, 2010 4:28 pm

Continuation from Thread 1: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1190843-terraria/

What is Terraria? I'd describe it as an open-world side-scroller action-adventure Minecrafty type game. The homepage (which has a FAQ) is http://www.terraria.org/

Post here to share your tales, horrors and building projects you may have.

So I defeated Eater of Worlds for the first time this morning - got a Shadowscale Helmet, 60 demonite Ore (made a new pickaxe :D), as well as 40 or so Shadow Scales. He spawned right after I destroyed a shadow orb, he then killed me and then sought me out at my base. I lost my merchant during the fight, but I think it was worth it.

Why would we want this?

I'd rather have modding.

The game is considered finished, so if it is I doubt it will be as frequently as Minecraft.

It's possible though.

Why would you not want more free content?

Anyway, yes, the devs have said they're going to support it.

How long has Terraria been in development?

Development started for Terraria in January, 2011 and we will continue to support it for a long time to come!

If there was only one choice I'd pick modding, since it also covers free content.

The game itself is finished, but the devs have stated multiple times that they are still working on new content and are planning to adjust the price accordingly, if Steam lets them. So that we first-day buyers don't feel cheated. ^_^

How would you feel cheated, you're still getting the same content?

That was phrased weirdly. I meant that they want to keep the price at the same level and don't drop it so we wouldn't have paid more for less game. Like people complain about GOTY editions, for instance.

Of course if the price goes up like I've heard, first day buyers are rewarded for supporting them. :)

My gun dealer did not show up until I made a Phoenix Buster, which was odd. He don't got anything good anyway.

I wish they made the merchants a bit more useful. The only thing I ever actually buy is potions from the merchant, and I probably won't even have to do that once I set up an Alchemy Station.

Yeah. The Phoenix Blaster with meteor ammo is the best gun in the game IMO. It murders pretty much everything

Yeah I wish there would be more merchants and NPCs will come as you get better gear. Or some will show up after events, like a blood moon or the goblin army. It just feels unfinished that you get most of them in the early game and there is only a dozen items you can get from them.

I haven't got the arms dealer to show up either. I did get my first meteor landing today. Since the Meteor Heads constantly spawn, the best tactic I could find is to TNT the hell out of the meteorite. If there are less than 50 meteorites left, the Meteor Heads will quit spawning.

Do you have a gun in your inventory? He won't show up if it's in a chest.
