terrible stuttering with steam version-previously ran well

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:44 am

For some reason, I've recently been getting terrible stuttering (both visual and audio) with Crysis 2. I'm using the steam version. I've had the game since release day and it's been running smooth as butter until I recently updated.

Here's the weird thing: when I put it in windowed mode, and don't focus on the game window (ex: firefox is "active"), and I drag my mouse over the Crysis 2 window, the UI moves smoothly, like it did before, but once I click on the windows, it starts stuttering, and my CPU usage goes up (I'm running rainmeter with CPU monitoring)

Here're mys specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.5Ghz
8 Gigs ram
Nvidia 220 GT

any ideas on what to do?

the minimum i would say say is a gtx260 / radeon 4890

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I tried something different though. Since the game was running smooth as butter before, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it off steam. Initially it didn't help. I tried it again, but went to the steam folder and deleted everything that was left, and then reinstalled. Bingo. I'm not sure what it was in there that was causing the problem, but it's good now I guess!

See ya'll online!
