TES 6 - Console & PC differences

Post » Mon Apr 15, 2013 5:31 pm

This thread is mainly about graphical and speed differences between the different platforms; before I start though I want to point out that I play Skyrim on the 360 and love the game so I am not bashing one side or the other.

The PC version of the game obviously has better graphics and runs faster; this isn't really a debate but a fact as consoles are now about 7 year old tech and PC's can be upgraded to be extremely powerful.

With this in mind, it makes me wonder about Oblivion. When Oblivion was 1st released; consoles were probably still considered new tech, so I wonder back then if there was as big a difference in graphics etc. between consoles and the PC version of the game as there is today with Skyrim? Or were the games quite similar due to consoles being quite powerful back then?

Now with all of this in mind, what do people think will happen with the new TES game (we all hope and presume there will be 1)? The next game will be released on the next gen consoles and tech wise are not too bad, so as the new game will be released early in the consoles life cycle then I wonder if people think we will still see huge differences (graphical or otherwise) between the console version and the PC version or will they be on par with each other?

Obviously TES 7 (again we all hope) would be released towards the end of the consoles life cycle and I would presume the graphical gap would again appear.

Actually, you'd be looking at TES6 coming around the mid point of the next consoles cycles, since we have Fallout 4 coming next from Beth and since we don't even have an announcement on that yet, a release before early next year for FO4 is unlikely.
