@redsrock - I just don't want anything to do with Aaron Hill. The more I look at his numbers the less I like him; I think last season was an absolute fluke. Even if he does turn it around this season he won't come anywhere close to what he did last year. I might be willing to move Phillips but I really need to improve my pitching staff more than anything.

Yeah, but they're trying to do it both ways. You can't have Griffey as a DH and expect it to turn out well. Just like you can't sign Bradley and expect it to turn out well. If you're going to compete, you need to make moves that improve the team, and neither of those did.

Well they traded for Bradley, who is a good offensive player when he wants to be. Back in 2008 he was spectacular, and I don't think it was that bad of them to make the trade. Gotta take a gamble when you don't have the budget of the Yankees Red Sox or Tigers.

I was watching the Braves/Brewers game. When Jason Heyward was standing at 1st base, Fielder looked like a fat midget, no joke.

The Mariners needed a left handed bat, in that respect the Griffey signing wasn't a bad signing. The fact that he has been their best option at DH is a problem, but you can't really blame Griffey for that.

EDIT: I just noticed you mentioned Bradley too. That signing was a little iffy, but I don't think there was much risk to the signing if he didn't work out.

I don't blame Griffey for anything. I just don't think it was a good move by the Mariners. As for Bradley, that's more of a personal preference for me. I don't like off the field issues, especially on teams that aren't really good.

That's very true, but personally, I'd rather gamble with young players. They're much cheaper.

Honestly, if I was a younger player on the Mariners, I'd sell Griffey out. Every AB he takes not only hurts the team, but it also potentially hurts my future pay. The Mariners were stupid to sign him; you don't win your division on over the hill 'clubhouse leaders'.

You can't blame him for the lack of success.Chone Figgens and Milton Bradley have svcked.Outside of Ichiro and occasionally Gutierrez no one hits.

As far as Bradley I did not mind the trade for him. They gave up Silva who was under performing and a headcase.

My team has taken svcking and ground it up, fermented it and drank it straight from the carton.

I have David Freese of the Cardinals that I'm not really using. He and Rolen are kinda the same (Freese is actually better at this point). Would you want Freese? If so I'll take a look at your roster.

Freese is playing well but he is not worth a cy young quality pitcher.Even If I were to give you Felix I would want a bit more in return.Other than those three we could work out a 1 for 1.

Damn, I was just about to ask for Felix too... I don't have interest in Braden.

How about this:

I Get: Josh Hamilton, Felix Hernandez

You Get: David Freese, Justin Verlander

Hamilton is what... your 5th best outfielder? MAYBE 4th? And this way we're trading Verlander and Hernandez, fairly similar pitchers right now. I think Hernandez is going to eventually have a better year than Verlander in terms of ERA and WHIP (categories I'm not very good in), but this way you're getting some offense. What do you think?

Isn't Freese a rookie? Ah well, I guess in that case you're gambling whether a rookie can keep up his hitting or whether Hamilton can stay healthy.

Ugh Wandy's killin me here. Why can't he pitch like he did last year? Took a one hitter into the 6th inning and then gave up 4 runs.

I don't know if Freese is a rookie, but he's certainly young. Hamilton has trouble staying on the field. So in the end I think they're a balanced trade because both of them are risks.

Freese is a rookie, he just played a little last year as a September callup. Still, I don't think it would be equal to trade Hamilton for Freese. We know what Hamilton can do (which is knock the you know what out of a baseball) while Freese we really don't.

Well I don't really need another outfielder, I already have 6 and I don't think Gutierrez would be an improvement over any of them (except Hunter Pence, but he's my favorite position player). But you know Pettite recently had to skip a start due to elbow stiffness right?

EDIT: Can't double post, but in today's Astros/Cards game there was the greatest bench clearing incident I've ever seen. Everybody calmly walked onto the field and started chatting, Berkman was joking around with Wainwright and Wandy was talking to Yadier Molina. It was great. :P

And in fantasy news, yeah I picked up Strasburg. Why not? Not like I gave up much getting rid of Brad Lidge.

I heard that Carpenter and LaRussa were whining about something. That pretty much the case?

It was just Carlos Lee popped up, yelled something, Carpenter took offense and started yelling at Lee as he was running towards first base.
