[Spell1] [Spell2] [Spell3] [Spell4] [Spell5] [Spell6] [Spell7] [Spell8]
[Item1] [Item2] [Item3] [Item4] [Item5] [Item6] [Item7] [Item8]
If you put those buttons on the top of the DS Touchscreen, your options are endless, as that is only the top 1/4 inch of the screen. Let's not forget your game options, quickslot setup, Inventory, Health, Magicka, Stamina, Stats (I would love to just be able to look down and see that I'm protected against Cold by 25%, Fire 40%, etc.,), Sneak, Rest, Current Spells In Effect, Draw Weapon, Ready Casting, Defend (if shield equipped), Duck, Jump... get the point?
I'm not going to sit here and say it would be better on the DS, but the developer's would have a plethora of potential for usability as opposed to the PSP. Yes, it is superior to the DS in graphics (which made this last game so loved) and it has a larger screen (with its 'no touch' policy in tact), but the potential for hard-core playability is limited to their too few buttons (seriously, sit back and think about what you would do with your character... Thieves with their sneak and pick-lock; Mages with their Potions (most likely they will all fill the 'Item' slots shown above), Scrolls and Spells; Warriors with their Clicky Effects (a.k.a. 'Item' slot shown above), Weapon #1--seriously, they all carry at least one weapon of every type (magick, piercing, blunt, etc.,) and Shield (a.k.a. Defend option for quick shield draw for deflecting arrows, decreasing spell damage, etc.,)... Get the picture?
In my opinion the DS houses one of the most RPG ready features of any console to date (that doesn't have a compatible keyboard). I think this system has the most advanced RPG potential and I pray every day that Nintendo (and other gaming companies alike) USE it. The potential is nearly endless... and I feel that TES would be a wonderful addition to the system.
I do not harp on the PSP (I sold mine after I had it a month; loading times pushed me away, as did the battery life) as I have owned it... but that was in the past. I base this post solely on my opinion, and hold no potential from the PSP, but I do press the issue that it IS limited... as where the DS is not except in hardware for graphic prowess and larger screens. I also do no know how much a PSP disc can hold, or the NDS cartridge for that matter, but I'm sure the PSP has it's win in that area too. If the NDS is limited too much in that aspect, expect to see any TES game on the PSP only... if this is not a limit... I can't wait to own it on my NDS!
