After reading the other threads on "persuading" Bethesda to create TES 5, I'm more than a little shocked to find all the threads full of utter crap.
Do you want them to make TES 5? I sure hope they do.
This thread is for real comments on possible improvements to the series, we are the people that buy and play the game after all.
Trolls and idiots, move on please.
My biggest hate of Oblivion, was the "fast travel" feature. Bethesday made all that effort to give us a beautiful game world, and we get to skip it all with the push of a button. Great for the guys that just want to complete it as fast as possible, not so for us that really loved the environment we were given.
Another little problem was the size of the map, I'm sure many of you were happy with it, but I felt it could've been bigger. Much bigger. I really hope we weren't given more space to roam, so Bethesda could utilise it in the next chapter!
My last niggle, was the "random" caves and dungeons. A very nice feature, and I couldn't wait to find the next ancient ruin, but after 10 caves and dungeons, they were essentially the same. Now, how do you make 1 cave different from another cave? A good question. My answer and suggestion would be to try and make the interiors as diverse and stunning as the outside. Rock is rock at the end of the day, but in 1 cave it could be damp, and hence covered in moss, another could be mainly dry with lots of roots hanging from the ceiling. Everyone can add to this in the hope of creating a more fulfilling game environment.
Negatives aside now, let's focus on the good points.
The "outside" graphics, were amazing. Catch the sun dipping low just behind the white tower, with the full flowing landscape in view, spectacular!
Personally, I never used many of the classes. Redguard served me very well in Morrowind, so this was my first choice in Oblivion. My 2nd play was the High Elf, purely to explore the magic side, (sry magick), and I love creating my own spells. Perhaps we could see a more accessable spell creation system in TES5?, most spells required heavy skills although they were pretty useless. (Bring back "Jump" spell, lmao)
The range of armour was nice, and really well detailed, but once I'd collected Umbra's armour, that was pretty much it. (If not Umbra, then ebony). Deadric armour had a nice look to it too, but I felt we could've been blesssed with more outlandish looking armours, to reflect our playing style and personality. Perhaps for TES 5, we could actually design out own armour. How cool would that be? Pick from certain preset styles, add a few spikes or shines there, choose your colour and boom!
Same for weapons, create your own personal killing machine. (No guns!, but perhaps they could apply some ancient dwarven technology)
The scope for TES 5 could be huge beyond imagination, but as the community that buys and plays this awesome series, we have to give Bethesda some workable input.
I loved the amount and diversity of "side quests", but there can always be more! More is always better, and more = a much longer game, I played Morrowind for about 5 months!, Oblivion for about 8 months! I love the sandbox approach to the series, do what you want, when you want. Both games used up so much of my time its not even funny, as I'm sure some of you can relate to. This is the hallmark of a great game. Just like a good book, you can't put it down...just one more chapter, just one more mission.
Ok guys, rant over... please follow this thread with something that the guys at Bethesda can follow and use according to the series.
Let's give them a reason to create the next chapter!!!
