is tes going to continue to get simplified ?

I want to know what the OP meant by the land being blatantly Tolkienified. That makes no sense to me.

Heh, looks like he edited that out.

Morrowind had fewer skills than Daggerfall, and Oblivion had even fewer skills, but Oblivion did not start the "few skills" trend as you seem to suggest.

Oblivion removed "cool stuff?" You must have been really looking for bad things to say about it...

Oblivion had a "low amount of lore?" Normally Seti would have gone insane on your for saying that, and would have listed a bajillion different examples of how much lore there is in Oblivion, but that fact that he didn't really, really shows how silly your argument is. He doesn't even find it worth his time.

Oblivion had a "generic and illogical plot?" You saved the world in Morrowind and you saved the world in Oblivion, and neither plots were "illogical." Morrowind's might have been more complex but that doesn't make Oblivion's generic.

I could go on... point is you're really trying too hard to find things to whine and moan about, and this forum has enough unwarranted pessimism as it is. If you don't have faith that Bethesda did what they did in Skyrim for a reason, then what are you still doing here?

You know me very well. :P

I take offense to that. I have ADHD and enjoyed complex games when I was twelve.

I have ADD as well, I'm not trying to offend anyone. I merely used "ADD" to reference society's faced paced attitude.

Oblivion was way worse than Morrowind, but probably they learned their lesson and Skyrim will improve. But I'm pessimistic too, I don't think it will reach to MW's quality.

Jack, your pessimism is quite astounding from what little the community has seen or heard. Until we get some real meat, tone down the hatred will ya? From what I've seen going from OB to FO3, Bethesda realized a bunch of its mistakes in OB, and I fully expect them to continue the trend to further fix weak points and add more juicy and wonderful content.

For me, I'm excited that they're created a perk system that will allow one to potentially have more specialization than what we have seen so far in TES.

Let's wait for Skyrim to be released and then make judgements. Oblivion was way worse than Morrowind, but probably they learned their lesson and Skyrim will improve. But I'm pessimistic too, I don't think it will reach to MW's quality.

Morrowind is not (and never was imho) the pinnacle of the TES series. There is no TES game that holds that title.

Skyrim's awesomness is pretty much like hypnotism: it only works if you let it

actually, a lot of things are likt that in life. think about it

LOL. Mass Effect 2 destroys Mass Effect in just about every aspect.

I actually second this.

And I can't understand how people can say things like the OP with so little information about the game.

Very easily, all you need is lots of pessimism, the ability to blow things out of proportion and a bunch of misinformation about the features of previous games.

It is being "simplified" but not in an inherently bad way. The total amount of skills is decreasing because the whole system is getting streamlined. In Todd's interview, he said that they try to think of how they can improve preexisting content (in the case of skills, by combining and removing unnecessary ones) before going and adding more stuff. This isn't oversimplifying the game. It's balancing it.

The game cannot be as large as Daggerfall due to engine constraints.

To be fair, from what we've learned, it seems like there will be a lot more variation in the land/dungeons than there was in Oblivion. There are a lot of combat improvements but I see no reason to believe that that means the end of any other role-playing elements.

Yes, it will be different. Believe it or not, they do something new every release. Just because it isn't complicated doesn't mean that it's bad.

For me it is, because it's the first TES that has acceptable graphics and it's a very interesting and long game. I'm sure DF and Arena are interesting too, but the graphics aren't really acceptable to most people now...

Like hell it is. They'll have learnt from their mistakes in Oblivion, and create yet another masterpiece.
This is the Elder Scrolls we're talking about, people!

skyrim- even fewer skils, removal of lots of stuff even from oblivion, combat is main focus, more conan and less tes, armour designs dont belong in tes.

Oh cool, I didn't realize Skyrim had been released.

:nono: This is not about Apple. It's a functionality vs. complexity issue.

If you're so scared that Skyrim isn't going to measure up to previous Elder Scrolls games, don't buy it. It's unhealthy to be constantly worrying about it. Save yourself the stress, we won't miss you when you're gone.
