TES IV GOTY question..

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:18 am

hey guys, i was just doing some research on price tags for oblivion, and saw that the GOTY for the ps3 version was only $30 new, so i was wondering, is the GOTY version any different than regular?
BESIDES-the fact that it has all of the DLC for oblivion, im just asking is GOTY more glitchy, less glitchy, and more, or less better over-all?
im asking because i heard the F3 GOTY was extremely glitchy, and not that worth your money. so i wanted to know if the same was true about oblivion.
thanks!

As far as I'm aware, the only version of Oblivion that has ALL the DLC available is the GOTY Deluxe version on Steam. The GOTY by itself only has Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine. The GOTY Deluxe has those two plus Wizard's Tower, Fighter's Stronghold, etc.

The PS3 GOTY version of Oblivion has the Knights of the Nine DLC and the expansion pack Shivering Isles. You won't find glitches in the game other than the ones you'd find in the vanilla version.

But the PS3 GOTY version has a nasty bug: the Cure Vampirism bug. If you become a vampire, there is no way to cure vampirism because the quest that allows this is bugged and there is no fix available. Other than that, it is a very good version.

Better to get the GOTY. The regular has a Fighter's Guild quest line ending bug.

The only bug (that was fixed by Bethesda, that is) that is not fixed in the PS3 GOTY version is Melisande's refusal to accept Bloodgrass in the Vampire Cure quest. It was supposed to be fixed in the 1.1.511 patch (GOTY ships with 1.2.0416, the latest), but it re-broke for some reason on the PS3 version. This, of course, makes completing the Vampire Cure quest (and as a side effect, any chance of curing vampirism at all on PS3) impossible unless you workaround:

-Uninstall Shivering Isles and clean your save of SI data (save game without SI present)
-Obtain a non-GOTY disc and play from it, then you can select the Bloodgrass topic again.

Other than that, all other bugfixes touched by Bethesda are included.
