TES V Ideas and Suggestions # 144

Post » Sun May 01, 2011 6:46 pm

1) Be able to inhabit any house/shack you want in the wilderness. I would love to be able to LIVE in the shivering isles, roaming the swamps of dementia as if they were my garden. The problem is you cant 'wait' while tresspasing, or sleep in owned beds. If the houses are abandoned, or the owners somehow die, this rule should be negated, and you should be able to store your stuff in the cupboards without them being deleted.

Atleast one home in passwall is empty, perfect village to live in. Though I am forced to keep going back through the portal to my other home whenever I want to shuffle my gear around.

2) climbing, and open windows in towers. Perfect for thieves and assassins. Example, Anvil castle has a balcony leading to the royal quarters, being able to sneak into it by climbing the walls would have been sweet. climbing trees would also be cool.

3) dagger skill, a higher skill enables you to get one hit kill slit throat tecnique.

4) make food more health giving, like in fallout. I want to be able to eat a meal out in the wild and have my health restored.

5) keep the fallout wait system, where you CANNOT regain health by waiting.

6) climbing, shimmying, going prone... all the actions you can do in games like splinter cell etc...

7) have forts/caves/ruins which are UNINHABITED, sometimes it just adds to the atmosphere when you explore a totally derelict tomb. Sometimes my Ranger likes to take shelter during storms at night, and not have to worry about fighting a load of bandits.

8) A place to gamble, play pub games and place to let it hang. How awesome would the Anvil dockside have been if there were some card games, blackjack, dog fighting?? going on... lots of ale, [censored]s and banter while you could be earning some gold between questing and dungeon crawling. some NIGHTLIFE is what im saying. Same with the Arena, have some stalls like a festival around the outside.

9) horse riding skill. higher skill means stronger, faster, more agile horse.

think there should be a spell that works as a spell that stops your enemies in a dramatic way. Like a curse. This spell would allow the player too torture his enemies. Or just have fun. What the npc would do is he/she would get hit by the curse but then would on her knees and say please no stop it kill me. or just scream. If a creature was hit by the spell then it would scream out loud and fall. Even a evil laugh would be nice extra too the character.Even the curse could be sent continuously in a stream of energy.

Also wands should be introduced into the game. like wands should act as focusers for the mage. But also the wand should be able too have its own magic. It should be able too regenenerate energy. It could have the ability to knock back or knock down an enemy when you tap the attack button. A stream of magic would come out that had one or multiple effects. Also wands should be able to block attacks and spells. But also when your blocking you could release magic that would push back your enemies. also when the wand is in block position it should act as a torch by leading the way.

Also bethesda more clothing designs should be introduced and would each be in different colors. Also veils and cloaks of many colors should be introduced too the game. also on top of my veil or hood i would like to add a crown or etc. I would love to have the same rbes that dumbledore wore in hp1 and hp6. I would also love to have the robes that syl and thadon had.

Also there should be buyable and empty lots in ESV. That would allow for customization of property, security, services, there should be the ability to add fences to the property, and design.

Also these properties can be used for commerce like put a shop there or an inn. And every week or month you would earn money. Also you could support your buisness by hiring a express boy/girl. Who would go on horseback to town to town spreading the word of your new establishment.

There should be a banking system.
When the character wants too make another staff wand or any other weapon.. There should be a screen that pops up and lets you add your name in gold, put designs. make your weapon surrounded by flame. They could add crystals and etc. it should also be shown to you in a screen where you could make your customizations and etc. then you would know what your getting then it would be delivered to you or your residence for free or a fee. For furniture thet you order it should be customized and you should pick where it goes.

Also characters should be allowed to have stocks. And characters should be able too buy empty lots in all the cities. and turn them into houses inns or shops. For the shops the character should be able too hire workers too sell items. the character should be able too buy ownable mines and extract the minerals from the mine and send it too your shops. Also the goods can be sent by caravan too your stores. Then they could turn them into whatever and you get money. also the workers should be essential

for the inns you would get a permit and build however on your lot. then you would open your buisness to the public by sending messengers to send good news about your inns or shops.

Also for the guilds i think one go through special quests meetings paperwork and leveling before you could become the next level.

Also there should be pets like a lion or dog or etc.

There should be pools of substantiation where you could make creatures like pheonixes or daedra.

The arcane university should be as big as a small town. Also it should have a giant greenhouse with most of the worlds ingredients.

Also players should be allowed to design there house. By choosing everything or by starting with a already made design. You could add a fence or huge gate. Add a guard dog or daedra. Or add regular guards. Add your own services. You could have a house in the woods. Add what you want including floor and etc. now this is for empty lots.

shape shapeshifting should be allowed also possessing beings but not spirits.

Also for the buisness just for fun a player could own his own strip club or prosttute house Where you would hire your dancers. Or prosttutes. You could build it to your customizations. and for fun you could have any race any gender. now it could be either gay or straight. Just for civil purposes.

sixual content should be allowed in the game.
Well on my idea about the properties. I think that it would be nice to buy empty lots and change them into inn, houses, shops and even a prosttute house.

In these properties you would custromize it by a design thats already done and you would decide on everything else.

For the inns as i said earlier you would hire a inn keeper and a maid. You would pay them once and thats it because they have a place too stay and something to eat. You would also get all of your money sent to your bank account. For the design you have already decided how many rooms you want in your house. The workers would be essential. Also you would get someone too spread the news about your buisness.

For the prosttute houses you would design it and you would get your money sent to your bank account. The prosttutes would be all of the races and each gender. You would either have it gay or straight it's by what you choose. The game has too be gay friendly for sales. Also you would have the prosttutes pay you there tips. You would also decide how many rooms you would have in the rooms.

For the house.
Players should be allowed to design there house. By choosing everything or by starting with a already made design. You could add a fence or huge gate. Add a guard dog or daedra. Or add regular guards. Add your own services. You could have a house in the woods. Add what you want including floor and etc. now this is for empty lots.

for the shops,
Also characters should be allowed to have stocks. Then they could turn them into whatever and you get money. also the workers should be essential.

Also for a item. There should be a special cloak that when warn has light or shadows coming from it. But when you double jump it allows the wearer to be engulfed in shadow or light and fly. While you fly darkness or light comes from you in a stream. Also u have the ability to to do spells. But when you touch the ground you are normal, also when your attcked you fall to the ground.

A spell ive been thinking of is a spell that makes surroung walls of fire appear. but you need a wand. Then any threat near you will be attacked by streams of fire coming from the walls. But you musty try to hold it for as long as possible. Like in hp6.

Also they should have giant daedra or monsters roaming the forest. or some place.

also some shapeshifting would be nice please.

-SNIP-

Reply time.

1) Be able to inhabit any house/shack you want in the wilderness. I would love to be able to LIVE in the shivering isles, roaming the swamps of dementia as if they were my garden. The problem is you cant 'wait' while tresspasing, or sleep in owned beds. Atleast one home in passwall is empty, perfect village to live in. Though I am forced to keep going back through the portal to my other home whenever I want to shuffle my gear around.

-The difference should be that while in someone else's house I should still be trespassing but there's nobody stopping you from it if the owner is dead. This can still mean however that the guards/police can stomp in, arrest you and confiscate your stuff.
You could buy empty houses though after they become city property (owner moved without selling it or died without leaving a heir).

2) climbing, and open windows in towers. Perfect for thieves and assassins. Example, Anvil castle has a balcony leading to the royal quarters, being able to sneak into it by climbing the walls would have been sweet. climbing trees would also be cool.

-Windows that are big enough and not barred or unmovable should function as entry points at least, you'd have a hard time entering through a churches window.

3) dagger skill, a higher skill enables you to get one hit kill slit throat tecnique.

-Gotta say NO here, there should be a “small weapons” skill again but it shouldn't automatically give you a “slit throat” perk.

4) make food more health giving, like in fallout. I want to be able to eat a meal out in the wild and have my health restored.

-Food should give you regeneration, not a instant health boost.

5) keep the fallout wait system, where you CANNOT regain health by waiting.

-Waiting shouldn't automatically regenerate your health but you should be able to treat wounds in that time, you DO regenerate if you're healthy but only the proportional amount you had regenerated in that time without waiting too.

6) climbing, shimmying, going prone... all the actions you can do in games like splinter cell etc...

-Agreed.

7) have forts/caves/ruins which are UNINHABITED, sometimes it just adds to the atmosphere when you explore a totally derelict tomb. Sometimes my Ranger likes to take shelter during storms at night, and not have to worry about fighting a load of bandits.

-Agreed too, also the inhabitants of them should NOT be static but actually change. A formerly empty ruin could house someone or some creatures at time while other times be empty again.

-Agreed three.

9) horse riding skill. higher skill means stronger, faster, more agile horse.

-Uhm, no. Horse riding should give you better control over your horse but how would make it your horse stronger? For that you need a BETTER HORSE (or train it).

They DO have a place in RPGs FOR PEOPLE WHO ROLE PLAY SUCH THINGS, they are NOT just about killing stuff.

an academy is needed for all areas if you ask me. A place were wizards can learn more about magic. a place were a comitte of sages are found. each one of a different race. but the head is a archmage high elf who resembles dumbledore in dress and in features. like a beard. His assisstant could be an ancient argonian mage who wears glasses and wears a red robe with flames coming from it.

The arch enemy could be a powerful vampiric lich who was once a student at the academy.

then there could be several epic battles. that you as the player could watch or join.

Gonna have to disagree there. This is a fantasy RPG, not a stealth-oriented FPS. Prone would have been good in Fallout, but NOT in TES. Climbing would be good, but anything related to FPSs shouldn't be in the game.

Uhm, you didn't happen to miss the thives guild quest lines? Preeety stealthy.
And, UGH, again the "It's not a FPS" argument. Lemme say this, IT'S CRAP!

Oh and "ANYTHING from a FPS should not be in the game", you mean like a FIRST PERSON VIEW?

Thats true, but stealth in oblivion was underpowered. You hit a target with dagger or bow in sneak mode, and all people know where you are, turning your stealth play into hack'n slash again. Same as mage, you allways ending up using a melee weapon in every situation. Although I like the fighting in oblivion, I hated that very creature took over 15 hit in the end, and with all spells take too much magicka, and a way to underpowered bow, you always ending up wiht atleast 1 melee weapon, no matter wich character you made. Id like to see a spellcaster rely on spells only. Maybe in the next game, you should be able to buy spell books, that have damage slighty lower than melee weapons, but will not drain mana.

Oh my... Where to begin?

There exists places for mages to learn about magic in the form of the late Mages Guild, now replaced in concept in the short term by the College of Whisperers and the Synod, which might hopefully bring back competition and moral convolution to the world of TES's mages.

Why exactly should a potential authority figure for a magical institution be an Altmeri Dumbledore clone? Dumbledore may be an interesting character in the HP universe. He (both in looks and in characterization) is not welcome in TES, as far as I'm concerned.
And it seems a bit jumping the gun as well as rather random to start ascribing racial and dress features to authority figures.

A powerful vampiric lich? Been there, done that. Not only is that a stereotypical "Good guys united against bad rebel" plot line, it's a virtual clone of the Mages Guild plot from Oblivion.

Epic battles are not something that TES can convey at this time, thanks to its engine. Think Battle of Bruma. And even if they could, epic battles in my opinion are not what TES is about. TES is about a character's journey, an introspective look on someone's growth and path. Epic battles, regardless of whether the player must participate in them or not, takes the perspective of "Look at that big fight that's going on!" And battles are reminiscent in my mind of things like Oblivion's main quest that try to add intensity and urgency to the world in all the wrong ways.

And, UGH, again the "It's not a FPS" argument. Lemme say this, IT'S CRAP!

Well... It's not an FPS. That's not to say that anything from an FPS could never be put into TES simply because it came from an FPS. But TES is not an FPS. Ultimate realism and believability of actions often comes into clash with mechanics. And often explorations of the mechanics of certain play styles (such as all the splinter cell movements mentioned) are checked by needing to devote similar time and energy to all the other just-as-viable play styles. Splinter Cell and FPS's all have the advantage of largely representing one general avenue of play, and because of that, they have a lot more license to expand upon the possibilities within that avenue. TES represents a whole lot more than just one general avenue of play, and so they have to blur the details and in-depth possibilities a lot more.

I agree with ol' Dan here. If it's not a FPS, why does using a bow/arrows seem so FPS'ish? You mean I have to actually aim and lead the target? This is a fantasy RPG, not Call of Duty! /sarcasm.

Even Fallout 3 was less of a FPS because the Vats system took away the need (not all need though) to actually aim.
Maybe TES:V should have a click and auto-attack feature, like Baldur's Gate? This ain't Left4Dead after all.

And exactly what reason does that give to say "Stealth doesn't need to be improved"?
I didn't say "It needs to be EXACTLY the way like Splinter Cell" but it's a good orientation point at least.
And the "It's not a FPS" is just a BLANKET excuse to nag about a system you don't like. There are variations like "It's not a Beat em up/Sim/Action game...", pick your direction, all used as a blanket to say "do not want" instead of actually thinking and arguing WHY.

And exactly what reason does that give to say "Stealth doesn't need to be improved"?

Because if stealth gets improved at the cost of magic or combat, then there are problems.
And even further, if all 3 play-styles get equally improved, but at the cost of depth of world-content (think Oblivion and AI/combat improvements from Morrowind, coupled with Oblivion's lack of depth from Morrowind), then there similarly are problems.

Now, I want improvements. But it's just not realistic to even consider a Splinter-cell-esque system as even a good orientation point. That's a lot of conceptual mechanics to throw in: climbing on many different surfaces, wall-pressing, crawling, ledge-hanging, etc. That's a lot of altering and reconfiguring world-design to embrace the usage of those mechanics. And that's a lot of potential resources.

But if stealth gets such a good overhaul, then it's not fair if magic and combat don't get overhauls of similar magnitude. Otherwise, you're going to have amazing stealth and mediocre-by-comparison magic and combat. So that's tripling the potential resources.

And those resources have to come from somewhere. We could argue that their team and budget has grown a lot from Oblivion and Fallout 3, and that it shouldn't be an issue. But then again, their team and budget grew a lot from Morrowind as well, and it was an issue for Oblivion. With that in mind, the resources are likely to come, at least partially, from other places in world-design. And that's not a trade-off I'm willing to make; the ability to engross myself in uber-realistic mechanics at the cost of a less believable world isn't a good deal.
Will that happen for sure? Can't say. But it's a distinct possibility.

Hence the difference, as I see it, between FPS and RPG. FPSs has the license to develop massive mechanics complexity within a limited general play style. RPGs have a limited complexity of mechanics, branched off from a vast myriad of play styles.

I'm all for stealth, but not PRONE. Why on earth would you go prone? Do you have a sniper rifle? Do you even have a gun at all? Unless Bethesda puts scopes on staves, there is absolutely no reason to go prone.

"climbing, shimmying and going prone" were not hinting I would like more stealth in the game, only that the player have a more Realistic assortment of actions, which ultimatly would add to the options the player would have.

This was the point of the comment, mentioning splinter cell was just because you are pretty versatile with what you can do in the SC games.

Why on earth would you go prone?

Hiding, getting through narrow spaces, trying to get by someone unseen, being able to crawl under something you usually have no access too...

Don't wanna sound mean but this actually kinda turns back the same way as you just before saying "A lot of those ideas are like a business sim. Investments, profit and loss reports have no place in an rpg.". It's a OPTION to players to do this just the same way.

For a stealth character, going prone could conceal you even more. (ie lower enemy ai search radius) simple.

Also, they could implement it to be used for crawling under fences, or through drains. Going prone could have many advantages but no disadvantages.

It also helps when your roleplaying.

To be honest, good dialogue and the likes CAN be modded in.

Also shimmying suggests being able to jump up and grab onto ledges... which is sort of prerequisite for most 'realistic' games when you think about it.

It can work in first person like it did in deus ex 2.

ARGUMENT FAIL!
How would sixual content make it a GTA game, would sixual content add cars, make it a modern day setting and the story being about some small time crook working his way up the criminal ladder. I think not, wouldn't you agree?

Maybe, but I just don't like the idea of it. But like ThatOneGuy said, the game would have to have been specifically made to support stleath like that, and it would take away from the main game. In Oblivion, where have you ever seen a fence you could crawl under? Or something you could crawl through that you couldn't by crouching? If you want stealth, go play Splinter Cell. A perfectly stealthy character can be made with the mechanics already in place, such as Detect Life.

It can work in first person like it did in deus ex 2.

work in first person

first person

with that said...

A perfectly stealthy character can be made with the mechanics already in place, such as Detect Life.

Too much emphasis on being a hybrid in games so far. Way too much.

Some guys say that taking stuff from shooter games and into a rpg will make it a fps. Call of Dudy Moder Warfar had a rpg-ish system. You can upgrade your rapid fire, your clip capacity, and much other "skills", but I dont hear anyone calling COD a rpg!!!
