TES V Ideas and Suggestions #152,

You can already peek around the hallway if you zoom out, and you do bonus damage if you're sneaking and undetected. :D

I know, I did not make myself clear. But the peaking around hallways is just an example...

On voice acting: im actually all for voice acting for all NPC but aleast have 2 voice actors for every race, one for each six.
and then add special voice actors for main characters. hearing Craig Sechler as all the mer males robed everyone of their induvidiality.
shops and other thing could be text baised with voice greeting for example though.

another cool thing would be to have conversations differ as you play as either gender or as other races.
playing as an argonian you would maybe hear "Get away from me you dirty lizard" by a xenofobic character.

... each and every NPC. I hate how NPCs sound like fictional game characters, while they should sound like people. Imo, the dialogue writing is even more important than voice acting. Even a good voice actor sounds stupid is he's going through stupid lines that make little sense.

Agreed.

But, real people have a lot to say. I'd take partial VA over full VA if that means I get more dialog from the NPCs.

Non-Psychic guards please.

This is critical stuff. Especially if you're roleplaying a stealth class, it would be nice to feel like a stealth class. Did playtesters somehow miss this point for Oblivion?

No kidding. Psychic guards, and NPCs that don't freak out when they see a dead body. Disguises would be cool, too - of course, only from a distance, since a close-knit militia would know members by face, and thus easily spot an imposter. But for uniforms with a full-faced helm or other face-obscuring apparel, infiltration would be easier.

i would like some better scheludes for the Npcs. I feel like this was lacking in both morrowind and oblivion. I think there should be actual holidays in TES V where all the NPC's stop what there doing for a day and have a celebration in the center of town. This mostly felt bland in both morrowind and obivion because no matter what day it was the NPC's were pretty much doing the exact same thing everyday for the entire year. The seasons never changed and the holidays never changed and everyday looked the exact same as the last.

And what person would go to the same bar after work everday of every month of every year and just stand around for 12 hours. There really needs to some change done to how the NPC's scheludes change from day to day. Like if their boss died would they still be working at the same bar everyday of their life? These were lacking in oblivion and missing in morrowind.

Agreed! I haven't played Daggerfall yet, but I was reading the Daggerfall Chronicles, which outlines many gameplay elements. I was astonished to learn about how dynmanic the towns can be - there can be plague, inter-faction wars, rioting, famine... There should be things like that in TESV, too. Towns and NPCs shouldn't be static and unchanging.

I think there should be seasons, and snow and leaves fall as the months change.

The combat system should be developed, and there should be more types of bows. Maybe shortbows, which do more dmg up close, and longbows that can shoot longer.

On this topic, I'd like to see a whole new combat system. In Oblivion, melee combat is still at the level of TES: Arena, you wave your sword around in front of a monster until you win. There's plenty of other games that combat ideas can be plucked from, get to it.

That would be nice. And along with these changes, there could be varying forms of creatures/wildlife seen more or less often due to seasons. In winter, your character could mumble a complaint about freezing cold water (because really, who just goes for an arctic swim...in full combat gear, even?) Maybe some potions could randomly freeze, unless you say the "magic" in them prevents that; NPC's could definitely mumble cold weather complaints as they go about their lives; travel services might be a little slower in the cold, ships could minimize movements due to storms and icy conditions, etc. And there should be some health penalties for running around in obviously cold conditions when barely dressed.

So you would rather have a combat system where you press a button once and it auto attacks FAIL

I think we could also include several events that go on, only on ceartin days of the year. Like maybe a carnival like ship pulls into port once a month, or ceartin people will come into town for a brief visit that will give out special items or will have unique one time quests that can only be played on that day in town.

Also this could introduce several new festivals in town with many minigames to play. Something to do when your bored.

ship pulls into port once a month,

This gives me an idea. Let's assume for a second that the setting is Summerset Isle, for example. There is a ship circling around it, stopping at harbors. A fasttravel method. You cold board it, state your destination and skip the travel, if you so wish, or you could stay at the deck for sightseeing as the ship moves around the SI. And it would always be on the move with or without you on board. To add a thing, I'd like the harbortowns to actually have some people fishing or collecting nets in nearby waters with their boats. Not anything necessery or radical like some of the gameplaychanges suggested in these threads, just one (possibly cool) feature. Maybe even added with some related quests.

Something I'd really like to see is people actually doing something, while in Oblivion they did do some things it wasn't really convincing because nothing really happened to their actions.

When somebody rakes I'd actually like to see them raking up something, they should head out on boats and go fishing, throwing nets or even try to catch fish with spears. Smiths actually doing smithing or go out to buy new iron when they run low. Shop owners stacking up goods on shelves or have a errand boy run around town delivering goods or cleaning the shop.

But the NPCs condition should play into this too like they decide to close shop for a day when they don't have a lot of costumers (get frustrated) or stay in bed when they feel sick and let their errand boy run the story for the day.

What about Euphoria? I notice Danny doesn't have it in his signature but wouldn't it be an awesome thing to have? No more bland rag doll effects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6F3lT1v79I&feature=related

Another Euphoria video with fighting actions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0yvs6RJVVY&NR=1

And I'm noticing that the Havok engine is the most advanced engine out there at the moment. Do you think Bethesda should switch to this engine?

I think Oblivion allready uses Havok. Just Bethesda [censored] up and the physics are crap in that version.

Actually I do have under "N.M. Engines" :P
And I'm all for it, it worked GREAT in GTA4 and having it for a heavily character driven game can only mean good stuff.

Well, TES has a pretty expansive timeline, and I really doubt shapeshifting has ever happened. Bethesda can't just tack on a new school of magic.

Second, Elder Scrolls 5 doesn't need to rip off anything from WoW.

The magic allowing to shapeshift exists. Hircine's ring is the proof, bypassing the requirement (night) to become a werewolf, the thing is, are mere mortal able to use this kind of magic.

I want them to have a more Dark Messiah-like combat system. Sure, the basics are the same, click to swing, hold for power attack, but it would be cool to have adrenaline, Sprint swings(assuming they have a sprint feature), backstabbing, rotating strikes, etc.

As someone said in the Fallout Universe section (their post relating to how Beth should focus on TES 5 before FO4), Elder Scrolls 5 should have these key things before anything else.

"Take the best elements of each game

Daggerfall: Dynamic roleplaying and smart dialogues

Morrowind: Atmosphere and story

Oblivion: Graphics and magic system"

The Aylieds were evidently famed for being able to shapeshift into animals and the like, with it being suggested that shapeshifting is a magic with some relation to Alteration (see the book "Daughter of the Niben").

That ignores things like Lycanthropy and the Wild Hunt, which would also qualify.
