TES V Ideas and Suggestions #156

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:26 pm

ok i read half of it and i agree with it

another cool thing would be able to choose your leather (or glass) holder for your weapon also werid but adding like say cloth around the Hilt (forgot the name so i called it the "butt" of the weapon) it would be a nice little graphic feature

If I find a clump of steel and glass, I should be able to make a katana with glass on the outside and steel on the inside (steel crumbles, glass snaps.) Then, i should be able to take a bear pelt and, depending on my skill, make any one of 3 or four different types of hilts.

I think the game needs more plots and intrigue. I was disappointed that all of the little things in Oblivion that could have been built upon and fleshed out were left unfinished. The side stories don't even have to be quests, just interesting tidbits. Politics and contests and conflicts should be brought up more, if, for nothing else, only to give the game more depth and humanity.

I agree, I don't know why, but I want the side quests to be more about helping the people of the cities, instead of every quest lead to a epic battle between good and evil (Hackdirt), (The Jemane Twins). Sometiems I just want to help a guy find his horse or get him a cure diesease potion or somethign else.

I am a huge follower of the elder scrolls. when i heard that oblivion was coming out awhile ago i had heard rumors that there would be a multiplayer option. obviously that was incorrect. however i have a suggestion to the company. what if you were to create a multiplayer add on. something like the imperial city arena. however i am aware of cheats in the game. my thought is that you could make a seperate setup screen for multiplayer. this would be a totally cheat free area in which you could take a new character entirely into battle, earn gold, buy weapons etc. and rank up. this would an exceptionally good challenge for gamers who get tired of fighting NPC/AI characters and creatures all of the time. it would provide a new unpredictable gaming experience. and of course if you make this a free add on you could have free play besides the initial purchase of Oblivion, but you could have specially marked items that could be purchased by gamers who enjoy getting an edge up. i hope you take this idea and make something with it, however i fully expect to be another face in the crowd. thank you for reading, Humogwing. p.s. i am aware that production has been canceled but i belive they could still do so much more with the game rather than to continue manufacturing Oblivion with nothing else THIS IS AN IDEA

We need dynamic terrain. Steep rocky slopes should carry a risk of slipping down the scree. Uneven terrain should increase a chance of losing your footing and falling down (depending on your speed, agility, and athletics skill, and whether you are walking or running). Mud and snow should slow you down. Really swampy areas might carry a risk of you getting briefly stuck in swamp muck.

I'd love for more realistic implements put into the game. Marriage, for example, would be neat. Add STDs to the disease lists, maybe even open a few quests relating to your wife, and kids if children are added into the game. Another I'd like is visible wounds. Nothing too gorey and disgusting, just cuts. More realistic blood splatter, Better ragdoll physics (Not the crappy slowfall dead body thing), Seasons, more realistic rain, Maybe even jobs to make gold, not like "Go kill dat guy!", but simple ones like forging weapons, cleaning inns, etc.

Oh, and I also want the leveling system either removed, or dubbed down massively. I loved how in Morrowind I couldn't normally expect what to find inside a cave, ranging from a few rats to hella-hard Daedra. Sure, it's hard, but it's realistic. In Oblivion, you could almost ALWAYS know what's inside a cave. Bandits, creatures, or undead. Every time. There was never anything unique about it. My point, include more unique and interesting areas, with a vast amount of different creatures, some easy, some extremely tough, regardless of level. Hell, a baby can't walk in the woods and not see any bears or tigers until he's an advlt...It makes no sense.

Journalism. Want to write your own book? I sure do without mods. Especially since I'm on Xbox.

Swampy places...I don't want "oh a few puddles some ugly trees," I want mostly water, bubbles here and there, maybe get stuck in swamp gunck, small islands only room enough for a tree, and what a NORMAL swamp would be like.

Vendors, too. Someone mentioned that, and I agree.

Footsteps, like for tracking animals or...people!

More cities and settlements. Forts like in Morrowind, abandoned houses here and there, and of course, some way to claim an interior? Like if the current owner dies, then the house can be used by you? All the chests DON'T respawn, nothing is red, so you can take over it for Rps mayhaps? Oh, and some settlements in the trees? (A must for Valenwood)

Stores, like carpenter, or stores that sell oddities, (Like the items in the Museum of Odditties in SI)

More artifacts. Not just quest-related ones, but like random ones scattered. Maybe a powerful ring that you might read about in books? More books relating to subjects.

More drinks. I don't think EVERYONE drank wine, ale, beer, and such back then. Maybe fruit juice? WATER!!!!!!!!!

More strange food. Like creature eggs.

unique creatures. Morrowind had Nix Hounds and the ever so famous Cliff Racer. Oblivion...has what... boring mythical creatures most people have read about. (Ogres, trolls, goblins, etc)

The random scattered caves and ruins? Uhh? Add more design! In Morrowind there was daedric architecture, Dwemer, and human architecture! Make some new ones too!

Weather has an impact! Blizzards make you suffer cold damage unless you are resistant to frost, or are wearing fur armor. Rain makes it easier to be shneaky! :toughninja: Storms can maybe....just MAYBE strike you with lightning in a very large plain, and you're the highest object.

Weaponry. Crossbows...spears, halberds, and all that junk. Skills are seperated. Short Blade, long Blade, Axe, Blunt Weapons, etc.

Effects! Like levitation (Although the city problem...), or blind! Stuff from Morrowind.

EDIT: As the above poster said, wounds wounds wounds!! Be crippled like in Fallout 3, to add to the immersion :)

I once said that instad of making the game itself all about killing and FPSing, there should be stuff like theiving contests and all out battles over X-box Live, PSN, and WWW to satisfy the short attention span of 'new'players.

I strongly agree with the vendors idea, especially in larger cities. That's what the IC was missing. It would have made it seem so bigger just to have specific vendors in the marketplace and outside of the arena

so what you're suggesting is that gamesas make a completely separate game, new character new areas etc completely separate from the main game, just to add on to the main game so you can play multiplayer...? Why not just buy a copy of halo or age of conan? I mean sure it would be nice to have a multiplayer feature in the game but to have that added on as an arena style thing completely cut off from the main game seems a bit excessive. You mentioned cheats... I can only think of 2 cheats for oblivion and they were bugs that didn't really help that much (well, the duping helped a bit).

Instead I would suggest a multiplayer in the same form/guise as was shown in fable2, (I know talking about multiplayer and fable2 is like blasphemy around here but the multiplayer in fable2 was perfect).

Flame away!

Stephen.

From what I remember, Dark Massiah might and magic had multiplayer with up to 10 people. If you have played it, is that the kind of multilayer you were thinking of. In any case there is a multiplayer thread and it is best to discuss multiplayer there. otherwise you will be getting some short, possibly hostile, answers. Here is a http://www.imperial-library.info/dogate/til_fishystick.jpg for being new.

On an aside, does anyone think that DM was worth playing. I started a game, but it felt like it had a bit to much cheese. Could someone let me know if it gets better.

Dark Messiah DOES get better. Its basicly about killing hordes of monsters. There is no sidequests, but if you like a suberb combat system (like TES needs to have) You'll like this game. Also the quests are more interesting than oblivions. Also some creatures has to be killed certain ways than others.

I think mana pools need to be bigger, or spells need to cost less.
Also, some form of jewelcrafting or something, to make your own rings/necklaces that you can enchant yourself.

Risen is a kickass rpg. It i very similar to oblivinon, you can go and do whatever yo want, and is set on an island you can explore. oblivion might have better graphics, bigger land, and better combat/casting system, but if you lik oblivion, you may like Risen.

In all honesty, that looks really cheesy and terrible. :P
But that's just my opinion, I'm sure some find it entertaining.

I agree, but this guy (*three posts above*) seems to like it.

Hey, it got an 8.6 [Great] in IGN, so it has to be fun to a certain degree.

Anyone else think better prisons would be fun? I wanna be able to make connections, earn money, get into fights and shank people, not just walk in circles and throw my cup at passing guards

Sure. It would make for a more realistic approach to getting into the shady guilds. The shady types need to respect you, etc.

You mean like prison-life? That would be awsome. Maybe if you are a high rank in thieves guild, some of the guild members will live in prison and do what the player tells them.

I would like to see more than a handful of jail cells per jail. Considering how psychic the guards were in Oblivion, there should have been dozens of people in jail.
