TES V Ideas and Suggestions # 177

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 11:49 am

I believe that when the Champion of Cyrodill killed Mankar Camoran that Paradise was destroyed. As with any other Daedric prince, his realm was him and the other way around. When he was killed his realm was destroyed. Jygallag was killed. Had he been the official ruler of the realm I think it would have crumbled as did Mankar's.

Aw, then that means Mankar was wrong too, 'cause Lorkhan was destroyed, and "his realm" didn't crumble.
It is odd talking in the third person :P

Khajiit do this often. Martut does not understand why though.

Oh well, I though I hear that somewhere. Why was Paradise destroyed when Mankar was killed then? Its was destroyed. You could see it right before you were teleported back to Cloud Ruler Temple.

I still felt bad after the whole thing crumbled and all of those people's souls were bound to a realm that was destroyed.

Anyway, I want more roleplaying opportunities in TES:V, and I'm not talking more houses (although that would be nice). I would really like to see jobs, pets, relationships, and new ways to interact with NPCs. Also the ability to join more factions and some factions that don't have a "the world is ending" scenario. I'd be nice to just play as a civilian without people asking you to do stuff whenever you talk to them. Why don't people ever go out and do the things themselves, and why do they rely on only you? I never understand that about RPGS.

Anyway, things to do when we aren't out dungeon-crawling, assassinating, joining guilds, and doing the MQ would be great. :) Especially if they never get old and boring.

Those people made their choice. Im sure all at least killed one innocent. Why do they deserve eternal life?

Well, if your soul is bound to a place that's destroyed, your soul probably gets destroyed completely. I'm not saying they deserved eternal life at all, I'm just saying they were given "perma-death" instead of going to wherever people go when they die in TES. You see ghosts, and you can "let their spirits rest in peace" so they've gotta go somewhere.

How about we change the name of the suggestion's page to be for TES VI since TES V is apparently being wrapped up.

We do not know if it is TES V or not. We think it is. Until a real announcement then that thread is needed in order to stop new threads like it from popping up all over the place.

Elves can live for a very long time. The Real Barenziah mention a "thousand-year lifespan", and people are also able to live longer VIA magic. Bretons also age somewhat less quickly than other humans, but I'm sure it isn't 250 years. There are some options to keep your character alive for that long, but not too many.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet but aging and the indirect influence of stats like fatigue and strength that comes with it might be perfecting any roleplaying. I like the idea of keeping your youth and taking influence of the age progress. This combined with resurrection could lead to some nice side quests .. :)

Topic #177

Damn...

Well at least dev's won't be short on idea's.

Personally I love all the Elder scroll games up to date (yes i played them all!) and I can't wait until 5 is released.

Really the number of times I re-installed oblivion and morrowind are well over 50 times. I get bored after playing for two months or so several hours a day then a few months later I look at what other games have to offer and pop back in my Oblivion cd and install it again, try a few new mods and do things differently from the last time. The amount of freedom you have in Oblivion is rare for any game and is the main factor that draws me to play this over and over again.

And that is basically what I expect and want from part of the Elder scrolls legacy (yes its legacy in its own time). Freedom and more of it. There are a lot of things I think they could improve in the new release especially when it comes to the AI they could improve quite a bit.

And you know theres one thing always wanted is to share my game with others I want my friends to be able to join me and explore the same world as me so as it has been mentioned a billion and one times multiplayer would make not play anything else for a VERY long time. With multiplayer I don't mean they should follow the mmo trend up to 10 people is more then enough. That alone would add so much more depth in to the game then ever before. Especially if you and your friends are in to roleplaying it could make for a much more interesting and richer game. Do quests together, explore dungeons and fight over found treasurer. We will finally be able to combine the strengths of all classes I mean sure we have "heal other" in oblivion but I have yet to find a real use for it.

I wonder if they hired someone just to read these threads and report back to them... I mean 20 posts a page +- 10 pages per post * 177 topics. That makes for over 200 posts per topic and total well over 35.000 posts just on suggestions. To be honest I don't know of SINGLE game that get this much response from the community. (All the more reason for multiplayer because your community is awesome ;) )

I would like Bethesda to focus on single-player experience. That's what they are good at. Time spent on developing multiplayer mode would surely affect single-player gameplay in a negative way (just the time constraints would pose many problems)...

Many of the current systems and gameplay aspects in oblivion would work quite well in multiplayer, sure they would need some tweaking but I think they could really enrich the experience.

I mean even if they just add the fundamentals for multiplayer I know for sure the community would pick up on it and create their own multiplayer addition

1. There will never be a multi player component in the Elder Scrolls series. This issue is put to rest by Todd Howard and Pete Hines several times. They've said quite explicitly they're interested in being the dominant developer of single-player RPG's. I'm not saying it's good, it's bad, or whatever. But by their own admission they're not interested in it. Zenimax will almost assuredly someday come out with the Elder Scrolls MMO, and that will be for everyone who craves multi-player Tamriel action.

2. One only has to look at the incredible improvements made to Oblivion by the modding community to know what kind of awesome game we could be in for. I am not capable of playing a non-modded Oblivion now that I run a game with massive textures, grandiose distant viewing, the most up-to-date UL mods, better cities, weather mods, OOO/MMM, and myriad of others. It took some effort and tweaking but I have a game that is very stable and far more entertaining than vanilla Oblivion.

I'm very sure that developers carefully review the modding communities efforts, as they even interview them from time to time. Some game companies even hired one or two Oblivion modders.

Something really simple I would really like to see is a small animated icon during loading screens.

I often load up my game, and wait for it to load. I'll get so far into the load, and I'll realise the game has crashed. I've been waiting 10 minutes expecting something to happen. VERY annoying. A simple animated icon in the corner would assure me that the game is still running and hasn't crashed yet.

In an interview with Todd Howard (I think), he said that the game they are currently working on is very far along (much further than they would normally be before an official announcement). He didn’t say if it was "The Elder Scrolls" or not though.

It may be the Where's Waldo adventure game where you in first person chase Waldo through crowded locations.

I don't want a bloody TES mmo... its going to be just like all mmo's and be horrible and completely lose its feel.

If they just add a basic networking support I just know the community will build a working multiplayer function with the first few months.

Hahahah, nooo. There's not supposed to be 6 million Nerevarines, and for Oblivion, that means that Oblivion gates would have to be open forever, as there is only one heir and he dies.
Ye be killin' the lore, mon, what with all yer Warcraft talk, mon. I'm a troll, mon, from WoW, mon. Mon.

P.S. TES was always intended to be a single-player ultimate experience. With that, Bethesda Game Studios probably won't be working on a TES MMO. I think some other branch of ZeniMax might be, though. But, that is neither here nor there.

P.S.S. in TES V there should be a more... sinister force. Say, a group of rogue mages who are performing experiments on the races of Tamriel. :ahhh: I'd love to wake up one day and have to fight off a bunch of spellcasters, only to look in the mirror and appear as an Argonian/Breton/Nord/Imperial mix.
