TES V Ideas and Suggestions # 178

How about the option to choose half races. there in the lore so why not have it in the game? A character that is half nord and half dunmer is something that I have always wanted to play as.

I think it could be done quite simply:

-You have an option to choose a primary race. This would be your characters appearance.
-You then choose a secondary race. This would be your characters starting stats.

Maybe even have the appearance be affected a little. For instance my nord wouldn't be quite so big and bulky if he was half dunmer. just an idea. probably could be fleshed out more.

I modded the Norsirai (Nord Father, Bosmer Mother as opposed to the Norsirai of Scott R Bakkers books). Made them a little shorter and slighter than Nords, gave them Bosmer heads and Nord hair in the Morrowind: TESC.

We have already touched on the idea of choosing your Father and Mother - which would define your race, attributes and skill bonuses.

It would be nice if every guild questline had two branches. I could join the Necromancers, or the Mage's Guild. I could join the Imperial Legion, or the Thieves Guild etc.. Sometimes I could join both (say, the thieves Guild want me to join the Legion as a mole), or, I could stay in the lower ranks in secret, as long as my fame is low enough.

Also, don't make any faction seem like the bad guy. Most faction rivalries shoul just be simple enemies. Necromancers, for example, are more often than not simple scholars, looking into it out of curiosity. They usually practice on animals, and they often take criminals from the government for their experiements. I mean, if it's not illegal, it should be quite fine. Most necromancers aren't your typical homocidal maniac. I mean, look at the necromancer in Balmora's Mage's Guild. Seemed nice enough to me, if a little bad tempered.

And some sub-branches in those would be nice. But I don't think the Thieves Guild should be opposed to the Imperial legion.

If you work for the fighters guild you should'nt be able to do all the mages guild quests etc.
Yes might be able to learn a few weaker spells etc,but not become a wizard aswell as a warrior ( jack of all trades ).
You've made your choice so stick with it.....it also adds better to the replay factor as a different character.
If you are a thief/assassin or a warrior,it should cap your magic ability to a lower level...say you can only get to 25-30 in restoration etc...but a true mage can go all the way with magic ability & only so far with melee etc.
Just my view.

It would be nice if they did that and made your parents alive and you can customize them. Also if your parents owned a home relative twards their status in society. At the begining of the game. Your father is sick and you come home from trying to make a living (and send money to your parents) in morrowind. You come home to skyrim and the first quest is based on the tutorial while you find the cure.

Edit:Where you were making a living is optional and afects your starting items. It should also afect your stats and all of your stats should also have an impact on starting gear.

Do you think we should be able to choose the height of our character no matter which race? ( within reason of course ).

Yeah I do. I want a stealthy nord not a lumbering behemoth.

Mankar Camoran?

I believe it is speculated that he, as some other Bosmer, has some Ayleid ancestry. I agree with height variety.

What about exotic armor shops with armor from other provinces? The Morrowind armor shop would have armor from Morrowind and we would have shops for the other provinces armor too. An exotic weapon shop would be nice the same as the top but for weapons. Not sold as a full set either I want to really customize like I could in Morrowind.

Well what was awesome about Morrowind was many of the unique armors were actually native to that land. Bonemould, chitin, netch. Even Ebony and Glass were more common because of the volcanic activity, and I suppose it could be argued that the larger number of Daedra worshipers would even provide a surplus of that normally rare armor.

I'm trying to think if we got any whole suits in Oblivion that were new from Morrowind. Mithril, for sure, Elven. And those both seem like they were at least native to the Ayleid civilization, I just wish they had been given more background.

The big question is, if you have a game set in one province, how many "foreign" armors do you have, and how many "native" armors do you have? Imperial armor is pretty ubiquitous, and I'm dissapointed we had less styles of Imperial armor in Oblivion that in Morrowind, such as studded leather, dragonscale, Dukes Guard. Would you have Dunmer armor in Black Marsh? Probably, because of the slave trade. Anyways, I think developing more "Native armors" as well as retaining a majority of the older armors, as long as they are logically consistent. Not to mention the ability to mix and match, and not being forced to wear a cuirass that comes with it's own pauldrons, boots and gloves that must be worn as pairs...even if they probably should be.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. The imperial armour worn by imperial city watchmen, the armour worn by officers, and the armour worn by the king. And then there were the different uniforms worn by city watches of different cities (I think seven total because even though kvatch burned down, they still had a distinct town watch). And then there was the Blades' armour.

The Ability to hire body guards, kind of like in diablo 2.

Well I guess a little context would be nice, fast travel can mean a lot of things, hopefully http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/7349/fasttravelargument.jpg wont happen.

I would love the addition of a key ring for all the keys I steal acquire :whistling: so I don't have to scroll through 1000 keys to get to my repair hammers.
So, you just have a single "key ring" in your inventory, when you click on it a submenu pops up containing all your keys.

Also, Let me drop gold again. I enjoy having piles of it in my house :celebration:

How about taking a page out of zelda in terms of dungeons. Make it only possible to progress to lower levels of the dungeon by solving puzzles. And have certain items you find across the land help aid in solving these puzzles. Like a door that can only be opened with a certain weapon or spell. And by having that item the game would know you're capable of going to the next level.

Actually its more like the metroid prime games. Certain doors could only be opened by higher level energy beams (ie plasma, ice) and to get those plasma and ice beams it means you have progressed pretty far in the game and are ready for whatever is behind that door.

This would completely solve the level scaling problem without having people complain about walking into a level 30 dungeon while they're still a noob.

As a sidenote, for a gameplay thing that would be really easy to do; put all keys on a keyring, and if you've never opened a locked door before, you have to scroll through your keys one at a time to try them. Once you know which key it is, any future uses are automatic when you select the door. Too many times in games I've been annoyed by always-automatic, letting me past a door easy when I didn't even know the key was in my inventory, or by always-locked, making me find and select a key over and over again.

Ok. Bethesda needs to put in a scripted sequence in an out-of-the-way place.

Someone gets up and paraphrases Hamlet in front of an audience:

"To Fast Travel or Not To Fast Travel, That is the Question...", at which point the audience devolves into a massive brawl.

Then a bear comes in and pounds everyone unconcious and life goes on, until a random recurrence happens.
I believe all forumites, regardless of persuasion would appreciate such a shout-out from the devs.

This already exists. Fallout 3 did it, and I don't doubt they'll add it to V too.

I think they already did that. there was a mages' guild quest with such an idea. AN ayleid ruin where youhad to shoot different spell at a clumn in the orrect order to get it to open, and you could only figure ouT which by reading the inscriptions and asking for translation.

They should rename the races as such:\

Bosmer - Lolly Pop Elves
Altmer - Jolly Mountain Elves
Orcs - Orcs
Dunmer - Chocolate Elves
Imperials - Humans
Argonians - Raptor-humans
Khajits - Fluff Munchkins
Nords - Vikings
Bretons - Manx

Their fanbase would go way up.

I would play that game.

Also, I would like a crafting mechanic, as has been mentioned before, but I would like to be able to take a branch off of a tree, shape it into a cane, and cover it in diamonds/other precious gems.
