TES V Ideas and Suggestions # 183

In my opinion, bethesda should go back to the Morag Tong. there's just something strangely fulfilling about being able to show a guard a piece of paper, then laugh in his face when he trys to arrest you B) . If the next game is set in Skyrim, and after the events of the Infernal City, it's fair to assume that at least SOME of the fleeing Dunmer would be Morag Tong members, so it's only reasonable that they would open up shop in their new home. Although what with Skyrim being a different province, the locals might not be so willing to embrace the Morag Tong, but that just makes things more interesting, what's more important; the local law, or long held dunmer traditions. This would also give good players a chance to sneak around without being reminded every 5 seconds that you're MURDERING in the name of a dark god.

And another thing to ponder; people often talk about how bethesda drop hints about future releases in current games, but to date, there hasn't really been anything credible to be found in oblivion, other than people talking about events in the other provinces. The mehrunes' razor DLC had a MT assassin which in all reality didn't NEED to be there (you could easily miss him and never know he existed). A random extra to make the DLC more interesting? Or perhaps a subtle hint from bethesda that the MT aren't gone from their games just yet? (I do realise this is a bit far fetched, but who knows, it may have some truth in it yet.)

I don't really see necromancy being restoration, and not much if anything to do with Daedric (formerly conjuration). I would say in TES that to operate a body, a soul is needed. Necromancy is about manipulating that soul to do what you want; whether it's animating a body, giving you information, or attacking someone. The trick is to put the soul of someone or something you can control into the right body. So, if you can control a dog, put it in the body of a person and tell it to attack things for you. Then the body runs like a dog and attacks the best it can. Obviously creatures would do the best job in a body that was most like their own.

Necromancy should be a ritual form of magic, and not a willpower/spellpower kind of thing like restoration. Zombies are shorter term servants, skeletons are longer term because you take the time to assemble them instead of depending on their fleshy parts to hold them together. Necromancy should have many conversations with the dead to provide information, like the King of Worms did with the Prince of Firsthold. I think at a certain point a necromancer could just yank the soul out of a person or animal that wasn't equipped to withstand that.

So, you make zombies on the spot, and use mark/call to bring your skeletons to you. Otherwise the skeleton walks with you or waits at your house. I suppose we'd be talking a few things out of mysticism to make this a skill, with the soul trap kind of thing.

Agree about everything but Conjuration being Daedric.

NOT EVERYTHING YOU SUMMON COME FROM A DAEDRIC REALM!!!

Also, spells aren't grouped by effect in the lore, but the way that they are cast.

Well, it sounds more like this should be in the speculation thread more than anything but most people don't realize Bethesda already has confirmed they will be making another elder scrolls with the Ending of Oblivion and what will be in the game...the next elder scrolls created scribed by you clearly indicated that you will have more control to shape the world and events.

Hmm, that's another question; does he mean you as in the champion of Cyrodill, or you, the player? If they did make your TES IV character the PC for TES V, how would they handle it? Would you be able to transfer you character as he is (ala Dragon age & Mass Effect), just his appearence, or have to make him again from scratch. Would you keep money/equipment/stats? How would they go about explaining your new found weakness/poverty if they took everything away from you?

Or maybe he'd just become TES V's equivelent of Martin, figureing he deserves to sit around doing nothing for a change :foodndrink: .

It will feature the CoC in Sheo's Quest(s). They'll probably mention something about it in dialog too.

The way I see it, the Dark Brotherhood should have some "out there" chapters in places like Morrowind where people are just in it for the murder, but that the organization's core members and traditional chapters would be quite decent people who kill others for religious reasons. Much like how there are crappy McDonalds that always get your order wrong, and others that are filled with friendly, kind, and skilled workers.

Haha! I can't believe you just compared the Dark Brotherhood to McDonald's! :lmao:
But as I said, most of the assassins in Oblivion were those bad employees who burn your burgers and don't wash their hands after they've used the toilet. The Dark Brotherhood are just a group of outcasts from the Morag Tong, though - aren't they? Morag Tong people must be the proper ones -- the guys who're nice and serve burgers (murder) with a smile.

...

Eeeehhh... I don't see how they could possibly give the Champion of Cyrodiil an appearance in the next game without totally screwing up everything that's called logic and continuity. The only thing would be to have you receive a letter / orders from him/her if you're in another province than Cyrodiil (or he's having a vacation on the beaches of Elsweyr and can't be reached). But I really don't see the point. What's the point? Do you really need to see the character you played in the last game? You probably spent like 400 hours with him already - why not just move on?

Well, if it's going to be based in Skyrim and judging off of what Todd has said in previous interviews it's going to be culture heavy and lore heavy because he really has wanted to flesh out the world a bit more...hence the books coming out by Keys.

Still, some evil must be inside you if you have nothing against killing people.

Nah, it's just the primal instincts. I usually don't kill the person, just make them think that they're meeting their fate and start crying incoherent prayers. That's when I tie them up, then take them either back to my clan's stronghold or the middle of a dark forest. Or I just rob them. Or help them with their mission. Amorality FTW!

... Got to learn to keep my fantasies as an anthro-wolf to myself...

Disregard the last comments. I'd like weapons to look more realistic. For example, a cutlass doesn't look almost exactly like a katana. I'd don't think cutlasses are that long, either, but I'm no expert. And if there is going to be Daedric Longswords and Axes and Maces, then why not cutlasses and katanas? A Daedric cutlass would look beast at my side!
