Shape shifting magic to fool enemies, escape, or to navigate terrain. EDIT: or just for fun works to.

Make the Eye of Night be a not blinding color, i.e. not bright blue, but green or red. This would make my day.

You know they actually use green in night vision because the human eye is the most sensitive to it.

I think he's thinking about how you could build strongholds in Morrowind, and how that could be applied to other things in TESV.

I just wanted to clarify something, I added more to the mines thing as a thing I would like to see in future TES games but not completely ....if you chose to join house halalo {sorry dont remember how to pronounce or spell the name} when you built your stronghold for them outside Balmora the house came with a mine that you had to clear of the blight then you would hire miners and guards to work it ,... that was about the extent of it ,... the rest was stuff i would like to see implimented on many mines that you could say you find/come across in your travels for income in later TES games, but they were indeed mines for owning in morrowind look it up, is possible you missed it just like many didnt know about the vampire houses.

I agree with the stealth suggestions. I think you should get more specific stealth abilities the higher your stealth skill gets. Once thing I would LOVE to see is a parkour skill like in Assassin's Creed.

Say the mission is to go in to a guild hall and steal something. In Oblivion you were pretty much forced to go in the front door and hope no one sees you. I want to be able to scale the walls outside and quietly break into a high-up window and unlock it from the inside, then sneak in from behind everybody and quietly complete the mission. And if I'm forced to fight, it would be more realistic for a stealth character to snap necks like in Splinter Cell than to get into a swordfight.

Why not use the Cry-Engine 3 instead?

I would like TES V to reward evil characters more than good. Right now in quests, doing the right thing is generally more beneficial than doing the wrong thing morally. Most 'evil' characters are only evil because of greed, and most 'good' characters are good because of their sense of morality, but in TES it seems that helping out poor farmers somehow gets you more money than killing all of them and taking their stuff. That is not to say good characters should never be rewarded, just evil characters should either have an easier time getting the same reward, or get a better reward.

The first legion quest in Morrowind in Gnisis, where you have to get a land deed (or something, I don't quite remember) is a good example. You can either kill the girl and take what you need, or take the time to listen to her and solve her problem so she willingly gives it to you.

(I guess this also ties into having more ways to complete quests)

The cliche 'nice guys finish last' is usually true, and IMO it should hold true in the ES universe.

because the anti-aliasing is better on Offset, and it has motion blur and soft self shadows

First of all, I'm not saying TESV is a certainty.

I was talking over Pm about the possible scenario to TESV. I wondered if anyone else had any nice suggestions. What do y'all think? I'll start with mine:

I think Oblivion set up the destruction of the empire perfectly. I'd like to see the empire fall, and cause a rise of the Aldmeri Dominion. I don't believe it should be as prominent as the Empire (I can see a lot more resistance to enslaving superioritists than to the Empire for most). The Altmer also don't seem so badly crippled as the empire, I believe they could rise up. Large Summerset-esque cities (one or two) should be placed around the target province. I can go to these places and be involved around slavery (I love the concept) and general big-city stuff. I could also join either the local rebels, the remains of the empire, or the dominion (Altmer, perhaps mer, only), and fight for dominance. These would only be side-quests (albiet major ones), and I don't feel a large work-around, ala Warp in the West would be neccessary.

The main quest should involve the Dunmer, if Skyrim is involved. The player should be important in creating peace between the Nords and Dunmer. With the Dunmer and Nords of Solsthiem now being cool with eachother, I could imagine a new alliance being formed. Eventually leading to some kind of huge war between two or three large groups. Political quests are nice. Too long there has been major involvements of gods. Perhaps some minor involvment, ala Azura in Morrowind, but I don't wanna have to stop the wrath of some god again. Gets old. Solsthiem should also be included in the game world.

It would be nice to have an expansion involving Morrowind, too. I would love to see the boiling mess that is the remains of Morrowind.

Anyhoo, that's what's been floating around that crazy head of mine for a while now. Feel free to comment on it, and share your own ideas. Have fun. :)

100% agreed. Plus, since the Dunmer got into real trouble - and live close to Skyrim it would be nice to see the consequences of the events of the book. Maybe see what happens with the Argonians and such. More politics and religion (not involving the gods themselves too much, I think Oblivion's story lost a bit of the Elder Scrolls' charm), I'd like to witness what is happening with the empire and how each races cope with what is happening and each other. That expansion with Morrowind thing would be awesome, and considering Skyrim is close to Morrowind and Solstheim, it only makes sense to see what happens in that part of the province after these particular events.

As long as it's not a major part of the game or you don't return to Mehrunes Dagon's realm. Maybe for Daedric Lords quests, but I'd prefer them to be grounded in the province as it's always fun to see their influence reach the "real world".

Hopefully TES V leaves the too epic story à la Lord of the Rings in favour of something more, dare I say realistic. I'm not a huge fan of this sort of bigger than reality over the top stories. I liked Oblivion's story, but I got enough of that type of story, now that the big, obvious crisis is over, I hope for its after shock to be more about politics and such.

You're talking about a game that's set in a larger than life unrealistic world though you may as well be expecting them to change what ES is all about. :gun:

I'm fine, as long as the game isn't all about the Daedra. I wanna see something political. If anything, I want an expansion to focus on Daedric realms (I think they merit more than a simple side-quest in the main game).

Uhm, TES isn't about over the top dramatically overly epic story-lines. The greatest parts of TES, imo, and I would guess other feel the same, is the attention to small details. The political entrigue has also been great in both Daggerfall and Morrowind. And even in Arena, somewhat.

A HUGE Open world or randomised world is easy to make and make look great.

Randomise the terrain generation like they did for oblivion. Then once they have a HUGE randomised game world, they could use randomised brushes to paint the terrain, like a area of forest, it randomly places trees and plants and logs and all that suff you would expect to see in a forest, then you could use other terrain brushes like deserts (yum) or open fields or snowy terrain on other parts of the map, all randomised of course so that no two places look the same, then you would paint on your rivers onto the terrain and it would make clearnings for the river and goove them into the terrain as you paint them on. Then you would make your cities, locations and landmarks and put them on "dot dot dot dot dot" and the engine would make clearings for them. Then you could paint on your roads free hand and the engine would make clearings for them and bridges and you could connect them up to the land marks easily with various types of roads and paths between them. And "tada" you have your huge game world which could be made by 1 man in half a day.

Theres no need to individualy place each and every individual rock like they did in Oblivion. They could have made Tamriel huge but their brains got lazy, and they wasted alot of time.

They could write a program that does all of the above for us automatically, its called procedural generation, and we could have a completely new world to explore (optional) each and every time we play a new game. All this nonsense about loosing quality and detail is a bunch of crap if you plan your produral generation properly and you can have a huge game world. Theres heaps of games that use that kind of procedural generation like Civilisation, and you have a new world to explore every time you play.

(Though realistically I wouldnt expect anything larger than Oblivion)

-snip-

What, like Just Cause 2? No. Eventually, mile after mile after mile of random terrain gets incredibly boring. There's no point in making the balloon larger if you're not going to fill it with content.

Morrowind was a great example of packing a relatively small area with TONS of content. With the superior design, many consider Morrowind to be of much larger size than Oblivion.

One suggest I have is that factions can't be completely dropped the way they were in Fallout 3. Factions are very near and dear to my heart.

I agree. Morrowind felt a lot bigger than Cyrodil (I know physically it was smaller). The varied landscapes and unique scenery made a much smaller landmass feel significantly larger. I think it also had to do with Vvardenfell being physically divided by several mountain ranges. The generated landscape in a Oblivion got very boring after a while. While the world was unbelievably beautiful when I first started it, looking at the same scenery all the time got dull. I think the landscape in Morrowind was a lot more pleasant to look at than in Oblivion.

Yeah, but I think Oblivion's main problem is how much space is wasted. Unlike Morrowind, cities in Oblivion are only close to certain main roads, leaving huge chunks of land with nothing but pretty scenery and dungeons, there's big ares which there's barely any quests to do. Almost every area in Morrowind is FILLED with things to do, this also made the game richer and more interesting for those who actually wanted to follow their character's customization rather than do every single quests to get most of the game. Morrowind was so huge that you really role played your character, if you don't do everything in Oblivion, you feel like you're missing out.

My suggestions...

1.Challenge me. Anyone disappointed with the enemies? they all do the same thing: Charge at you with weapon drawn and attack. this is, of course fine for the bandits and warriors, but its ridiculous when the mages fire off one spell that couldn't light a cigarette and try to break through my steel armor with a dagger. They should be trying to incinerate/freeze/electrocute/disintegrate/poison or paralyze me, not poking my platemail with a weapon equivalent in power to a rusty tuna can lid.

2. Better setting: Cyrodil is boring and cliche. Morrowind had an exotic flair to it, It actually felt like exploring an alien world with strange creatures and customs. Oblivion is a like a bad dream i had once. everything was shiny, happy and colorful. Its like i stepped into children's book. Get rid of it. If people complain, too bad. If you want shiny fairy tale garbage, Go play fable and hammer daggers for awhile.

3.Better main quest. Oblivion's wasn't so much bad as it was vastly inferior to morrowind's. Bring back the moral ambiguity and complexity that we had with the tribunal/nerevar/Dagoth bit. All the goody two shoes in oblivion made me wish i could join the mythic dawn.

4. Bring back the cast on use enchantments and the enchant skill along with it. part of the awesome fun of morrowind was my vast inventory of magical weapons. I had dozens of rings and amulets and never needed to swing a weapon in morrowind. Also get rid the recommendation garbage for the mages guild. Its stupid.

LEVITATION- stop whining and bring it back. I have heard all the excuses. they're lame and only an idiot would believe them. The real reason was that oblvion was rushed through development before the work was done. END OF STORY. And if you can do it the old way do it a new way. Figure it out. Would it be so hard to just put this sentence in the manual: "Don't try to levitate into towns, it won't work." simple.

WEAPONS- I don't care if anyone else used the throwing weapons, crossbows, spears, ect. I DID. and so did a lot of other people and those people me included, were quite PO'd to not see them there.

The two above relate directly to rushing the game into stores before its finished. People say to me: "ITS NOT THEIR FAULT ITS THE INVESTORS YOU MEANIE!" Then how about showing some self respect? if investors complain about the game not being ready for a deadline tell them too bad. Tell them to grow up and buy the medium size whirlpool or something. what are they going to do? pull their money? Their loss. Let someone with a sense of maturity and a grasp of reality make millions of dollars of your product. You guys do the work, you OWN them. Let them squeal like pigs. Not like they'll do anything but threaten you anyway they're cowards.

I agree with everything said, I just would have said it with slightly less obvious disdain for TESIV.

1. All sorts of enemies should have different battle strategies and provide different challenges, as well as have a variety of attacks. Wolves should travel in groups, and circle you and attack from behind, as well as being able to charge and push you to stagger you, and bite you to damage you. Mages should have more than one spell up their sleeve, and have more than just destruction spells. Any flying enemies should swoop and dive, rather than just hover above you.

LEVITATION. It does seem that the closed towns thing is sort of like a convenient excuse. Levitation in many areas could have been far too useful, and the AI was still too stupid to know what to do if you could levitate. More time needs to be spent on level design and AI anyway, so as you are fixing these already existant issues, fix the levitation related problems with those things as well. And to prevent levitating into towns, I'd be okay with a stupid and shallow excuse (such as some sorcerer or god or something placed an enchantment around towns to prevent levitation) if it means we can levitate again.
WEAPONS. Of course bring back throwing weapons, but they don't have to be useless this time. With an in-depth locational damage and armor system, they could cripple limbs and do quite a bit of damage, but if it hits an armored area, it does little damage. Also having limited throwing distance could help keep something like this balanced.
