TES V Ideas and Suggestions #187

Post » Thu Jul 29, 2010 6:15 am

I saw Troy last night, and I thought that the design of the swords and shields was pretty cool. For example, the sword's scabbard, for lack of a better term, was directly on the inside of the shield. Also, there was one point in the battle when Achilles flipped his shield onto his back, thus protecting it.

Those two designs were very intriguing, and I would like to see something like that, instead of "Shield on Arm, Sword on Back/Side." Maybe a choice on how you want to sheathe your weapon?

It's not even physically possible to dual wield 2 spears and fight let alone effectively.

People should be generally nicer to the rich. If I walk into a bar wearing full ebony, they should be kindly as heck to hope for a better tip. Speaking of tips, this dumb system of having gold be the only currency is moronic. Get some local scrips in there, make gold have weight, and make banks available. Name the money after the ruler of the county.

Duel weilding should only be done with swords or daggers or combo and nothing else im not really a fan of duel wielding but if its done then this is how it should be keep it simple no outragous stuff like two handed weapons used as one handed here is a example.

See effective.

Cool but should not be possible let alone effective they have a smaller counterpart version that is effective.

Look at how successfully Bioware did Dual Weild with a logical approach to it in Dragon Age.

Ideas for Kinect/Move

blah

If the shareholders insist on kinect compatibility, then I'm accruing trillions of dollars, somehow, and I'm buying BGS, several islands in the Caribbean, and Kraft Foods, which I'll give to homeless people as compensation for not having a house.

kinect FEATURES might improve the game, like being able to scan your face onto your character, that would be cool

No matter which way you slice it someone will be cheated in some way whether they don't want it or can't get it for whatever reason it would be a waste of resources if alot of people aren't using it.

Kinect received positive reviews. It will be available for PC too. It is not like it will hold precious data on the disk rather than some animation files. The software development time could be a concern but I say it would worth it. Mouse button spamming is what I hate about ES games. Kinect could be a cure. It could be like vats. When in combat you click a button and enter kinect mode. You stand up and fight while standing. You can assign objects to weapons in a kinect extension of quick keys feature or have left-right belly or from back gesture to reach your sheaths.

and you would have me believe that implementing that feature into the game would not in any way use resources best spent on things that are most needed by everybody rather than a small number of people who are easily wowed by gimmicks?

Like I said, it won't take any significant resource(if they program it right) other than software development time. They can program levitation, real-time open cities and IK animation for better horses in that time. If there are things in their list as "most needed by everybody", I hope they add them all before kinect integration. But that doesn't mean people can't suggest it at least or we have to convince you personally. ;)

Maybe there are many people who thinks it can be useful for immersion and willing to buy kinect if TES features it or vice versa. I wouldn't assume.

It should be impossible to be faster than the fastest horse in the game by simply getting speed and athlethics to 100. The fastest horse should be 1,5 times fast as that.

Edit:

The leveling system is not in my taste, they should make it experience based when leveling up, like this:

You get XP from rasing your skills, any skills, and skills would get higher in the same way as in oblivion. Doing quests would also get you XP, helping you level up faster. Leveling should happen instantly like in fallout, not by sleeping.

Once you level up, you can spend an amount of points on your attibutes, depending on the max level cap. If max level would be 50, then 5-6 points into attributes would be a good amount, so that it wouldn't be possible to get all attributes to 100. Also, major skills should be the only skills possible to reach 100, all others would be maxed out at 75.

Lessons in archery:
-Higher skill really allows you to pull stronger bows, since it's about 70:30 strength and technique imo.
-Still, a weakling can NEVER pull bows that are built for a much more strong person.
-Skill also allows you to aim for longer without tiring yourself.
-Skill, and in lesser extent the quality of the bow determine how well you hit your target.
-The strenght of the bow determines how fast the arrow flies, which determines the energy of impact.
-The arrowhead and it's material will determine which materials they penetrate, and how much flesh, for example, does the arrow cut.

Daggerfall did it wrong. Battlespire did it wrong. Morrowind did it wrong. Oblivion did it wrong. Hint hint?

Well to be honest, most games do it wrong. Not meaning to bash TES games... Mount&Blade is going to the right direction, but even that could use improvement.

Completely this! Archery is a strength skill! I can't see how it even enters people's minds that it might be an agility skill! Also, they should make you have the appropriate arrows for the bow, or do a worse job of using the bow with the wrong arrows.

And ofcourse moving would naturally make it more difficult to aim.

Oh, I forgot you work at Bethesda right? So you would know exactly what it takes to make a game like TES...

dude quit raging, we're just saying that it potentially could be a good idea to add some elements from kinect to TES none of us know for sure, heck you probably don't even know how easy/hard it would be to implement, so quit flaming already

I'm not flaming/raging so stop pretending that I am in order to get the mods after me.EDIT: Also he wasn't just saying how it "potentially" could be a good idea he was acting as if he knew for a fact just how hard or easy it would be to add the feature, so read up next time.
