Yep, because we've seen tons of maps of Akavir.

Bring back Daggerfall style guild advancement.
-You can gain ranks only after certain amount of time (1 advancement per month)
-You can fail quests, lose faction standings and ranks
-You can even be kicked out of a guild after you lose enough faction reputation
-Faction reputation is lost also if you spend months and months without visiting or questing the faction
-Each faction has an infinite amount of jobs to do.
-Even has the skill requirements you so much liked in Morrowind

Yes, that would be a large improvement. We all do have to realize though that some fans cannot play Arena or Daggerfell. I have tried to play Daggerfell, got it all set up but it just wouldn't play.

Or maybe because lore says it? 4 nations in akivir.
Akivir is roughly the size of Tamriel. I honestly do not think that they would make a landmass 1/4 the size of tamriel. Maybe an island.

What about more realistically weighted armor?

I know that the previous two games implemented heavy armor that made you run slower, but what about heavier armor that causes the character to sink in water? Realistically, it makes sense.

Non-realistically (ie: magically), this could be counteracted with feather spells or breathe underwater spells (or enchantments).

But this also raises the question of if you could walk along lake beds, seeing the silt rise up with every footfall. Now that would be awesome.

Oh right, I forgot that the number of territories on a landmass dictates its size. And I also forgot that since it does, the fact that Tamriel has 9 major provinces, Akavir must be roughly a little under 1/2 the size of Tamriel at 4 provinces. It also seems to escape me that The Elder Scrolls was known for keeping things completely to scale, and that there is no possible way for a plot twist to happen that would maybe even shrink Akavir. I'm also having trouble remembering that not even Arena used an entire continent as a setting. I also totally missed the fact that an estimate of Akavir's size is ever stated, especially considering everyone who has visited returned alive with rich records of there culture and history.

Combat.

What does this combat system need? Well, I'm OK with a little hacky-slashy so long as it doesn't take 50 hits to kill a measly wolf, this is not an SCA simulation game, after all...

Melee combat: finishers and better fatigue integration.
You've knocked down or tripped an opponent, and he is now at his most vulnerable, in real life, the battle is pretty much over right there, all it takes is one thrust to the heart, and he's dead. But in Oblivion, you couldn't do anything like that, the best you had was to power-attack him a couple times, and that rarely killed him. Why not just let us give him an ending blow and finish the fight right there?
Or if you manage to break his defenses sufficiently (like swat his shield arm aside and stagger him), a nice blade-through-gut execution would be in order.
Or instead of a 6X extra damage melee sneak attack, make it a throat-slitting instant-kill.
And also, thanks to Fallout 3, we can reasonably ask for location-based damage now, too, which is integral in medieval combat. If you cripple someone's sword arm, they cannot use that arm for swinging anymore, and have to sacrifice their shield to keep fighting, and vice versa. Crippling a leg will slow them down.
And finally, as your fatigue depletes, your swings get slower, and if you run out completely, you collapse to the ground.

Now for archery... boy, could we improve this...
Again... LOCATION-BASED DAMAGE!!!! You did it in Fallout, Bethesda, DO IT AGAIN HERE!!! This would seriously help our bowmen to keep up with the crowd, having the ability to shoot someone's leg out to slow their advance.
Bows need to deal more damage (I'd say about 2.5X extra over Oblivion), considering how slow they are to fire.
Headshot on un-helmeted opponent=instant kill, and even on a helmeted opponent based on the quality of bow and arrow.
If someone gets too close to you, they knock your bow out of your hands. If you have an alternate weapon, you will automatically switch to it when this happens. This encourages people not to point-blank-shoot all the time.
Quiver capacity, it doesn't make much sense to be able to load your quiver with 15,000 arrows, now, does it? How about, say, 30?
Return crossbows!
No blocking with bows, ever try it in the real world? Your bow would be snapped on the first stroke.

That's it for now.

On another note, I would like to say I want more reason to be a stealth class next game. Stealth classes got shafted like hell in Oblivion. No reason existed to become one. I can't say anything about mages, I never really played as one (although I always incorporate a little magic into my character), but I can say that as a 5/5/1 warrior, the game was SO easy. I was able to melee trolls to death while without armor and survive with most of my health.

reading this thread it seems a lot of fan wanna see the next TES more close to morrowind (like me)
but i think bethesda make oblivion more simple than morrowind..just to sell more copyes to the casual gamers....
do you think bethesda will come back to morrowind style to make happy some "old" Fan and sell less copy??
or making the game still more casual to sell more copies?
im really scare about this...
look also bioware....
KOTOR was a real RPG...and look mass effect now... a TPS with no rpg element....
im really worryed about this

what do you think??

The only WISH that I feel the compulsion to express:

PLEASE, make Steam totally optional.

. . . and one other, fix the level scaling, else just get rid of it entirely.

The Devs dont even need to think of anything, with all of the community contributing. Anyway, I would really like to be able to rent out houses that I buy but am not using at the moment.

Ok, if any of the devs of people with influence to devs reads this, I'd like to suggest Arenas but more like in Gothic 3 instead of the one in Oblivion. Not a death match arena, but a place where one could spar, fight, train, and once you beat one village - go elsewhere and find similar arenas. Could be even included in Fighter's guild or similar.
Check Gothic 3 (well you probably know what I'm saying).

More on guilds. I would like different jobs you can have in guilds. Like how in the Imperial Cult in Morrowind, you could be a healer, servant or that other thing.

- random events and random NPCs with quests - for example, during your exploration, you meet someone, he asks you for a help and a new quest appears
- many activities, like weapon crafting, hunting, escorting caravans, etc.

A better levelling system. I love levelling skills by using them, but you have to work to hard to manipulate the system so you can get good attribute boosts when levelling up. I shouldn't be taking conjuration as a minor skill on my mage just because otherwise ill level to fast and my stats will svck.

More epic boss battles. It seems unlikely that the King of Worms would've been able to rise to the position he had when I was able to take him down in a few hits. Carving through bandits in a random cave with one hit sneak attacks just makes me feel awesome. Killing the final enemy in the mages guild questline in a few swings is anitclimactic. Lets see some extra challenges when fighting the biggest baddies. Seems like there's good potential for that with dragons involved * fingers crossed*

A character creator where it's actually possible to make something that looks human (or elf or dark elf)

More than 3 voice actors

Better character models and animations

Please have more rare items, and items in general. When I first played Oblivion I loved to treasure hunt, until I realized there wasn't hardly anything to look for :(.
It would be awesome if there was some sort of randomization with drops, like once you enter a cave there is a % chance that there will be a special chest or monster at the end that has a chance to drop rare items. I know im thinking Diablo, lol, but I would love to have that included in TES, I would never stop playing :).
Also, I would love to see more puzzles that you need to figure out to get into certain areas, or switches that are not easy to find. Basically, more secrets would make my day. :)

My list is the same as mine was for Oblivion.
-Beards/ More long hairstyles with physics.
-More atmospheric world, such as if you are walking through snow at night, snow crunching overfoot, the character's breath misting.
-Break the skills up again(Long Blade, Short Blade).
-No level scaling or much less noticeable such as in Fallout 3.
-Less generic lore, maybe more gritty/advlt themes
-improved AI
-improved animations

Colors to cath your eye!

I always like the idea of Hand to Hand in Oblivion, but it was weak and had little to no appeal in game. I think to remedy this, instead of including fist weapons like Fallout does, have the ability to improve your fighting styles with various martial arts. There are plenty to take inspiration from, such as Muay Thai, Tae Kwon Do, Boxing, Savate, Karate, and many other striking martial arts. As your H2H skill increases you would be able to learn more powerful martial arts if you chose, and would have to go to a trainer to switch between learned forms.

This would make H2H much more appealing, and a way to improve it without adding ridiculous fist weapons. Kick based martial arts could be slower and more powerful than fist based ones, and there could be some middle ground. With a level 100 H2H skill one should be able to pull off very extravagant and effective moves, looking like a Kung Fu movie. While it may be a little impractical like that, the PC is supposed to be way above average and a hero, so you can suspend your disbelief a little.

To me this would be the best way to improve the H2H skill, because Fist weapons would all have nearly the same animations, and become very stale, though an inclusion of both would be good too. :hubbahubba:

1st off I hope to see some skills back.

Spears, Axes should be Axes again, not blunt by even close. Blade was not so big issue, but I still think it was better while small and big blades were separate.
Armor- medium may not be as useful, but unarmored is very important. It should be vital for any monk, and most of the mages would profit from the skill.
Enchanting should also be back I think.

Leveling should be toned down, so that non of the random bandits own too good equipment.

Gold should be much more common. You should remove gold and too worthy item from leveled free city junk. In oblivion going trough one Market District run would net me around 4-6 hammers, around 30 gold and handful of ingredients, on average.

Traders shouldn't have infinite money, but should have like in Morrowind, daily sum. Also it would be nice if randomized sum would be given to them, so that players don't strategically visit certain traders only because of the exact money they have.

Artifact quests shouldn't be restricted by level, but only by how hard they are. (So player can try to get Goldbrand at lv 5, but realistically he would get killed easily before lv 20. Also there should be more hidden treasure and artifacts like they were in Morrowind, unlike in Oblivion where ALL artifacts could only be found by quest (except Umbra, which wasn't even count as an artifact).

There should be an aditional journal or something, where player could write his own stuff down. I know I often wanted to write something down, and I had to use a note of paper. Would be nicer if I could use all the feathers in the game for something. Same thing would be really cool for maps, we should be able to mark the map ourselves. Maybe even no markers like when we found some random Fort or Daedric shrine, maybe to only be able to mark it ourselves (except towns player should know about, ofc).

Dialogue should be much more improved, in both Oblivion and Morrowind people were talking about same thing too much. Like in Morrowind, rumor about cold island Solstheim would stay for the rest of the game, and in oblivion we would listen about destroyed Kvatch half of the game, just like since I finished Knights of the Nine, I had to listen for the rest of the game that I am not what people thought I am lol.

......had much more, but forgot, will write it down later :P

Edit 1:
Bosses and hard creatures- there are no real boss fights or strategies. I always won by simply running in, throwing a couple of huge area spells, or would swing a sword and that's it. There was never need for extensive heal, poison spell or poison effect y a weapon was never lethal enough that curing it instantly would be only way to survive. I never had to cast too much protective spells, and or cast debuffing spells or enemy.
Also some really tough enemies should have very large resistance list, so that only few things could beat it wit ha bit of strategy usage. There are no enemies you utterly fear of, for example Vampires could have been the only threat in all TES games because of the chance to catch vampirism, or ghost creatures because of not being able to hurt them easily. However that threat was never real since fire/magics or silver+ or enchanted weapons were always so numerous that there would be no creature you couldn't harm early in the game.

Hmm all for now :D
