I think the quality of the voice actors for general NPCs could definately be toned down, I mean how hard is it to say "well met" in a convincing manner. However I also believe that for characters who tell part of the story a strong actor is necessary because that's the part of the game that you listen to carefully and take notice of. Not to say I would notice the difference between some geezer for star trek or someone who reads plays on the radio.

I'm not suggesting getting famous, expensive voice actors. I just think that they should have decent ones. Seriously, where were some of those voice actors found?

I agree, they just have to find a balance between some guy who comes in off the street and Tom Hanks which they think will make people buy the game but I would prefer they spend that extra ?10,000 on creating variation in what the regular citizens say and creating variation within the races.
