For me FNV is not the best exemple of "deserts can be interesting to explore". I found it very boring and empty. Lucky me Obsidian is not making TES 6.

It would be very interesting to see how would the " almighty " Aldmeri dominion fare against the Hive mind like swarms/armies of Black Marsh. Judging by their current feats, they'd be more than a match for High Elves. For sure nobody now is invading Black Marsh or even thinking about it if they know what's good for them.
I have a feeling that even if the next games isn't set in Black Marsh, we may get more lore on happenings btw Dunmer and Argonians, with An-Xileel maybe setting its eyes on the Empire to the west and becoming a superforce, thus upseting the Dominion and Empire's current " peace. " Whichever the case, these Argonians are quite radical, and I can see a lot of future expansion. It depends wether Bethesda wants to shift the lore in that direction, or resolve the conflict btw mer and men before entering the " additional threats " phase. Such happenings could easily justify Black Marsh being the next setting, but it seems like Bethesda has other plans.
I will tbh. Even tho their history and culture is intervined with Dwemer's, I found Snow Elves to be much more fascinating than the Dwemer themselves. The troupe of " super advanced race " in relatively technologically unadvanced settings grew old on me I guess. I found it hillarious that Falmer posed more threat on higher difficulties and had more powerful troops than the Dwemer. I don't know wether Dwemer Centurions are the most powerful machines that Dwemer had to offer, but Falmer Warmongers were actually stronger than Centurion Masters, at least in game, dunno when it comes to lore.
Just like with Skyrim right? Skyrim's landscape was pretty much based on real world landscape, at least the snow-tundra parts. I see no reason for them to incorporate " purple " deserts and so on.
Whatever the case, while Hammerfell certainly wouldn't satisfy my landscape preferances, it's still an Elder Scrolls game and it's bound to be awesome. Probably more than Skyrim. As long as I can have spears and improved combat mechanics, I'm gonna be a happy man.
