TES VI Location -- Official Speculation Thread

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 1:22 pm

Bethesda hasn't said anything about the future of the Elder Scrolls series, but one of the most common topics of speculation is where the next game should be set. Rather than trying to keep this in the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1352258-official-beyond-skyrim-tes-vi-7/ we've decided to give this an official home.

This discussion doesn't need to be tied entirely to geography, other setting details are also appropriate. However let's please keep this focused on the game world and leave other matters, like gameplay mechanics or NPCs, in the other thread.

Well, i posted this in http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1352258-official-beyond-skyrim-tes-vi-7/.

Elsweeeeyyyyrrr!
  • Got both rainforests and deserts
  • Loads of khajiit
  • Could have loads of dungeons dwellng under the sand or in the rain forest!
  • Could have intresting enemies
  • Possibly loads of skooma and moonsugar
Maybe we could have both Valenwood and Elsweyr becouse they are pretty small.

Interesting. Why do we need a break from Tamriel exactly and what does Akivir have to offer opposed to a blank slate?

This, it would also be an advantage since Elsweyr is smaller Bethesda can make it more detailed and add more depth to the game.

Personally I would rather have one large provience for the game with more content rather than trying to cram more than one into a game. I've not been a fan of this 'dwarfing' of proviences myself.

For me nothing compares to Black Marsh (in terms of adventure and exploration). I am a big fan of the Argonian race and seeing their home, their society, their culture in detail is something I've longed since Morrowind.

I want Hammerfall. I'm sure they're going to continue the conflict between the Dominion and the Empire in the next game, and Hammerfell is in the heart of it. There could be three major factions: the Dominion to the south, the Empire to the north, and the Redguards in the middle. That could allow for a lot of political intrigue.

I want to see the summerset isle, I think they should do that as a skyrim dlc.

I think Summerset Isle is WAY too big for a mere expansion. Besides, unless you're an Altmer you wouldn't want to go there. The only way I can see the next game taking place there is if the Thalmor's power and influence decays dramatically.

Black Marsh would be my first option because it's probably the most alien place this continent can provide. Combined with a darker atmosphere and some sort of survival-horror elements it would become my favorite TES asap. They'd just need to evaluate their resources and technology correctly because I have a feeling that Black Marsh would be the hardest province to pull off nicely visually and lore wise.

Valenwood, mostly because of all the hillarious glitches that will cone about such things as the mile-high trees and such.

I think Summerset isle would a great setting for new Elder Scroll, The Altmer are more advanced than other races especially in magic, although i wouldn't mind going to other provinces.

Anywhere but High Rock, and preferably NOT Summerset Isle (Every one of the extremely few non-Altmer there would probably be treated like absolute crap).

I would prefer the beast races provinces, Argonia or Elsweyr. Now that would be an ambitious project from Bethesda in many ways.

Akavir, but I just want to go there because it sounds strange as hell.

Realistically, probably Hammerfell or Elsweyr, both of which have problems with the Dominion at the moment, and both of which sound pretty interesting.

Yes I guess Black Marsh is the hardest province to make it a visually rich experience like a deadly swamp should be. Both provinces should have sub-races of Argonians or Khajiits and that will require a lot of work on particular animations and body models. Black MArsh would also require much more under the water activity than all the previous games or it's wasted potential.

I think it would be cool in Elsweyr because there could be this beginning scene like in army of darkness where your in the desert imprisoned by Imperials then a group of Kahjiit raiders come and attack the Imperials then in the middle of all the action you have to choose to go with either one of the other khajiit prisoners or one of the Imperial soldiers who imprisoned you.

I desperately want Valenwood - it's an alien place, with it's walking tree-cities and ape-men, but at the same time a place that's familiar to us and filled with human-esque people.
I'm confident it's going to be Alinor though, which I'm not disappointed about. The Psijic Order would be it's Mage's Guild, and it's plot (or at least some sort of questline) would involve the Thalmor and Aldmeri Dominion. That's my theory!

We have a long wait though ... at least another four years, I'd say?

For Valenwood, if they had it set there, they'd probably have Falinesti (and any other moving trees) permanently rooted. It would probably be kind of hard to program it to move through the whole province, to make sure it always had enough space to move, to make sure the NPCs always knew where to go, to make sure it didn't crush or otherwise bug up passing NPCs or creatures it crossed over etc. Also, I only want to see Valenwood if I know they can make it really huge. I don't want to go in and see a world the size of Skyrim (game version) with trees either pretty averagely sized as opposed to gigantic or otherwise have the trees the height of a good portion of the width of the gameworld, which would just look awfully silly.

I'd vote for Elsweyr, it would be a dramatic change from the cold wastes of Skyrim to the humid desert and jungle's of the Khajiit homeland. Yet I also very much like http://www.gamesas.com/user/461840-link-cwondaaslaamon/ suggestion of Hammerfall, with the Dominion to the south, Empire to the North and the Redguards in the middle.

Either Summerset or Valenwood. I would really like to see another fleshed-out elven culture. We've already seen two human provinces in a row, so i hope the next one is a bit more alien, and requires a bit more imagination on the part of Bethesda.

I'd be happy with either BlackMarsh or Elsweyr, my favorite is BlackMarsh for its mysterious nature.

I have no speculation, since no clues have been offered, but I'd like to see Valenwood. Meat-mandated ware-elves are a good opportunity to stretch the design muscles, we're getting pretty good at doing trees, and it's a conflict ground between the Thalmor and the Empire. Hammerfell would also be awesome - I've always had a soft spot for Redguards, and those BAMFs are the only ones to really stand up to the Thalmor.
