TES 5 location

Neither were the Dunmer. Calling you outlander, being told constantly that you're being watched, called scum by the guards, insulted. Being constantly greeted with "Say what you want and go away." and more. In morrowind there was only really one city with a bunch of towns here and there. It was a great RPG and many fans hold it the best in the series. Personally I find Oblivion and Morrowind to be equal. That being said, there's plenty they can do with Summerset Isles and they can make it a great RPG just as they did with Vvardenfell. In fact, they considered making the third game set in Summerset. Everyone was expecting summerset but boom. It was Vvardenfell instead. People were iffy on it but it turned out great. As I've stated. I'm 25/25/25/25 on Skyrim (though I'd prefer a more fantasy esque environment but it's fine.), Valenwood, Summerset, and Black Marsh but if you're worried about size and it's larger than Morrowind, then what's the real problem?

That's true but times are different in TES and that was when the empire had a presence in morrowind but now that the empire is gone I'm certain alot will change.

However a lot changing can prove to be quite the interesting story depending how it's done. Even now it's possible to make Blackmarsh workable. It just depends on how they set the story up.

Well truth is we're just going to have to adopt a wait and see approach because there's just no tellin how things are gonna be.

Skyrim is generic? You can read about it on the imperial library to form a picture of what it would be like archetecturally, politically, and culturally. It's anything but generic.

I wish people would stop saying that a specific province would be too small for a full game. Look at Daggerfall. It's just the Iliac Bay and surrounding areas. Bethesda definitely doesn't stick to scale. They make provinces/locales as small or as big as they like.

To be honest, there is nothing preventing Bethesda from putting future ES games wherever they want. Elsweyr/Black Marsh too "undeveloped"? This doesn't make sense. Just look at Infernal City. The main character, a Breton, lives in Black Marsh at the beginning.

Tamriel is Bethesda's setting, and they will fully explore it to their hearts' desires. You don't know Skyrim is all snow and mountains because you've never seen it.

Skyrim, Summerset who cares really. I'll bet it will be either of those, however. Summerset would be more logical for a new experience and some innovation as with Skyrim it's far too close to Cyrodiil and, let's face it, how much different can it be there then in the capitol? The Imperial hand reaches all that is adjacent.

Very.
Have you read the Infernal City? Skyrim is rebelling.

Also, Skyrim could be quite diverse, with small, cozy villages and shacks, and towards Morrowind, ashen like lands and other places that may have flatlands and things towards the west.

They couldn't do Summerset Isle justice with current engines. Wait 5 years maybe.

Oh, I have no doubt Skyrim will be interesting. I use the term genetic too freely. As I said, I'm as interested in Skyrim, Black Marsh, Valenwood, and Summerset. Those are the four places I want to see above all else. By generic I just mean Summerset seems to be a more unique locale so I'm surprised they wouldn't have put that over Skyrim. Either way Elderscrolls 5 will be a blast. I know that for certainty and if it's in Skyrim I'll definitely enjoy roleplaying there.

At this point I don't care where it takes place, I know they'll nail it....I just want to hear a damn announcement to play. I'm tired of waiting.

Well they said that they're far along and Todd's ready to announce just as soon as Pete gives the word...so, you know that means soon, not late 2011 or 2012. Not to mention X mas coming and VGA.

I voted for Skyrim for one simple reason: I'm not yet ready to have my hopes dashed by inadequate recreations of places that I have already built up in my mind. It just doesn't seem possible to create a Summerset Isles that comes close to what I imagine such a place would be. Alinor, Shimmerene, Northpoint . . . Artaeum! I am still content to keep these places in my imagination for now. Elsweyr seems like it would be a waste unless the devs were willing to let you choose which of the numerous varieties of Khajiit you wished to be (not to mention letting you choose to ride a senche tiger!). There is also something to be said about not ruining the mystery that surrounds Black Marsh. Skyrim gives a wealth of possibility while continuing to play with locations that are at least vaguely familiar (and if you like the view from Dive Rock, how cool will High Hrothgar be?) .

Since I'm an imperial lover it would be nice to see the homeland of the greatest emperor Tiber Septim.

Hammerfell has my vote, I always felt that redguard are the most neglected race.

Summerset Isle would be my primary choice, I'd really love to see it.
And if not there then, Blackmarsh also sounds like an interesting place.
But honestly, I don't mind so much, as long as the game turns out well then that's all that really matters.

As great as all that sounds, we are quite a way away from technology that allows us to have all that while maintaining a good amount of things to do, atleast on a console.

Easily solved, and one of "the big things" these days is taking games "back to their roots," sooo... PC-only release?

:sigh: yeah, I know, it'll never happen. Just hafta hope next-gen consoles will be designed a bit more robust than 5-plus-gen-old PCs. :yuck:

The Elder Scrolls series will pretty much always be on consoles from now on. It's more of a money-maker. While a PC only release would see a slightly better game, in terms of graphics and features, it's just not worth it from a business standpoint.

Anyways...

I think Skyrim is likely, although at this point it could still be anywhere. The Nords have always been my favourite race, and so I would be happy with it.
Plus, blowing up a gang of Barbarian Nords with a fireball spell high up in the mountains sounds like a "blast."

I used to want Summerset most and Elsweyr second most but the idea of Skyrim has really grown on me and I now don't want to see the next game anywhere else.

I'd actually like to see it in Morrowind again-- this time on the mainland. Barring that, Summerset Isle would be nice. What I don't want is another insipid, generic medieval Europe setting like Oblivion's Cyrodil.

I love High Elves and would love the game to be in Summerset. They are very snooty and smug and my character is very stuck up. haha But I'd prefer to have TESVI be for Summerset Isle since by the time the sixth game comes out, technology and graphics will be sooooo much better! (Probably around 2020 is when the sixth one would come out I'm assuming, if it did, that is). I'd just prefer to have more information and lore on Summerset available since the devs haven't written much of it.

Agreed, Oblivion is a great game, but its style is bland and over used. My vote goes for Black Marshes but Skyrim and Summerset isles would be good to.

I voted for the 3 provinces of Elsweyr, Black Marsh and Valenwood. You could take part in the conflicts between the provinces, with the 3 main factions of Argonia, Elsweyr and Valenwood, like the 3 houses in Morrowind...

Something exotic. I don't want to feel like I'm on Earth again, because that's what Cyrodiil felt like. It was way too boring. Elsweyr, Black Marsh, mainland Morrowind, Valenwood and the Summerset Isles are all good. :)

I don't like snow, so I really hope it's not in Skyrim. And I think Skyrim would be pretty easy to make too Earth-like, if you get my meaning. Snowy tundras and pine forests sound like Scandinavia, and I hope that if they do make Skyrim it'll be exotic enough to be interesting.

Everyone seems to be assuming that these games are to scale, complaining that certain provinces would be too small for a game and so on. Hasn't anyone seen a scale map of Tamriel? Cyrodill is supposed to be over 500 miles across (speaking of which, I have no idea how an area that big could form an empire with only 9 cities and keep contact and stuff). In the game, I remember reading that the map is about 16 miles across. So they could make the province High rock and have it 10 x bigger than Oblivion without it even being close to realistic size.

Personally, just going from this map:

Hammerfell looks like a very diverse environment, with areas of moor, grassland, rocky dessert, sandy desert, rocky mountains, snowy mountains etc. so I think that might be an interesting place to set it. Bt to be honest, all of the areas do and it's hard to choose.
