TES NEXUS virus?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 5:12 pm

I checked a few months ago and the guy who runs the site said they encountered a virus or hack and Google put the site up as "bad".

Is it still there or did they get rid of it and the files are safe to download?

Thanks for your help. :)

It's gone.

You might want to change your password there, though, the database was recently compromised (though the damage so far is limited to emails being added to a spam list).

Damnit, I downloaded a color map mod, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1950 and it gave me a virus.

Said file was broken and tons of [censored] like my computer froze and massive spam popped up.

No virus on that file. Checked with various anti-virus softwares. :)

Either your computer was already compromised before you downloaded that file OR you dont know how to use a mod that's packed in an .omod archive.

Yep - that mod is packaged in .omod format and is meant to be imported using Oblivion mod manager -- If you are not using it you want http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1951instead ! - and it does not have any virii in the download -- the virus problem Nexus had awhile back was one of the ads that the ad company they use had let by and was being distributed through the pop up advertising on the site - Nothing to do with any of the mods !!
