TES Online Lore and Marukhati Collective Discussion [merged

Now, obviously we don't know everything (or anything) about servers and all that. We can assume there's US / EU limited servers, but I certainly hope not, as I know a lot of people on this forum from America. Ah, but, I'll go ahead and apologise if this has already been posted before, or if it does not belong here - but I'll try my luck for now.

My idea / suggestion is that we should create a roleplay community heavily soaked in the Elder Scrolls lore we know and love (this is of course not to exclude anyone, obviously - anyone can learn in time, after all - But we can all agree that the Elder Scrolls lore is VERY obsecure to the public mass of Elder Scrolls fans)

Imagine the possibilities of having a stable community if we start it here, with lore-loving fans. Imagine how well played Telvanni (I'm at least going for one!) and Thalmor wizards could be handled. Imagine the piety of fans playing Redoran crusader-warriors; or slavering Dres nobles. Imagine the Kyne / Shor / Alduin worshipping nords of Skyrim, along with the An-Xileel (I've no idea if they existed in the Second Era, but it's just an example) fantatic hist-lovers of Argonia / Black March.

More will be added - but I'd like to hear what you lot think. What say you, defenders of lore?

Ah... yes, I'm late out. I shall throw off these shackles and join the Lore Revolution.

Great idea, I can certainly get behind this vision of the Elk sitting in the Emperor's throne.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that we have no shot at getting someone on the throne. At least, I hope none of us are going to be that deranged.

What exactly are the requirements? Is it simply awarded to whoever has the highest PvP score on the server?

Nu TES is upon is, in the form of The Elder Scrolls Online. Waves of new lore that may not be entirely in line with the mythomorphs we've scried here in the last few kalpas. Some of this lore might be hard to swallow, but eat it we will. And ask for more. Lore Collective has a plan.

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1371463-what-will-we-do-about-elder-scrolls-online/, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1371583-this-is-what-well-do-whirling-scrolls-online/

The marble jaws of Oblivion have been opened, who will stem the news tide? In the next few days we are about to be swamped with information about Elder Scrolls Online. I have seen what no waking eye has see, and I foresee the turmoil that awaits us.

This upcoming MMO is to be set in most of Tamriel, including parts of every single province, with more chunks to be unlocked as expansions. Apparently it spreads from Elder Root to Shornhelm, so there you go. It is set in the 2nd Era, during a great big civil war to crown a new Emperor, yadda yadda. Much more info is to come.

The worrying part, is mixed in with the gameplay details, are pieces of lore like the fact that the entire of Tamriel is now divided into three factions: The Aldmeri Dominion, The "Daggerfall Covenant" of the Bretons, Orcs and Hammerfell, and, um, the "Ebonheart Pact" of Morrowind, Skyrim and Argonia. All fighting over Cyrodiil. Yeah.

Now, I draw you here together for one simple reason: if, as early indicators seem to suggest, TESO twists and simplifies the Tamriel we love into something unrecognisable, how do we treat this new lore? The official line will be to call everything canon, no doubt. But we may find it difficult in our hearts to reconcile some of this new information with the picture of TES we hold dear.

Of course, holding different and contradictory pictures of a fantasy world side by side is something we are the undisputed world champions of, but we need a gameplan, now. It took us years to recover from the shock of Nu-Cyrod, we need to be ready for this outrageous débutante. Our lore-beards must be trimmed and arranged in all the latest fashions. This is a rocky relationship we have ahead of us, but by the Three we are going to make it work.

So, thoughts?

Two threads in, and here is the plan: we have a name: The Marukhati Collective, a Banner (you must adopt the ape sigil for as a sign of solidarity), and a prophet: The Merry Elk. Whatever lore TESO throws at us, we will march in, banners proud, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_amgzTXKww&feature=related#t=5m40s until they walk sideways. The grand aim of the Collective, apart from ascetic appreciation of the Oneness of the One, is to http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5b/Simeon_Stylite_Louvre.jpg: we are putting an Elk on the Ruby Throne. Our Collective will likely be mostly based around the Ebonheart faction, though our chapters are spread far and wide in this Starry Heart Tam! RUGH!

We also say that a lot.

Continue, then.

I thought this endeavor was to take down the heretical abomination from the inside. Now it's all about the Elk?

It's about Tamriel; we'll mount that Elk's head on the Sundered-Throne in symbolic triumph. Have some Tolstoy.

"...we discern a law by which men concerned to take common action combine in such relations that the more directly they participate in performing the action the less they can command and the more numerous they are, while the less they take any direct part in the work itself the more they command and the fewer they are in number; rising in this way from the lowest strata to a single man at the top, who takes the least direct share in the action..."

I like, but lets twist the Hegelian element further: the Collective is the latest expression of the Monkey Truth's March Through History. If we are going to be Marukhati we might as well start early. We are martyrs to the Absolute, ?and our Absolute is ineffability. The Elk? The World Spirit on Guarback.

TAM RUGH is a way to say 'Tamriel.'

Merry Elk the Eyesore is the present forum alias of Michael Kirkbride, aka MK, a onetime Bethesda developer who is responsible for much of the weird and esoteric aspects of TES lore.

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1371753-the-marukhati-collected-whirling-scrolls-online/. Has links and an explanation of where we've got in the last 400+ posts in the OP. To set the record straight, I'm still kind of amazed this is happening.

Tam Rugh is a linguistic corruption of Tamriel as uttered by an ape-man.

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/36-lessons-vivec, to start with. Also, much of the other stuff from Morrowind, basically all of Redguard and the obscure texts http://www.imperial-library.info/content/obscure-texts.

Most things in Morrowind, including the metaphysical and mythopoeic explanations of the universe, also things like the Mythic Dawn Commentaries, Mankar Camoran's speech, The Song of Pelinal, and the White Gold Concordant. He also keeps in contact with those in charge of lore of the series still employed by Bethesda.

Is it the right time to remind the 'collective' that MK wrote this : "Historically, the magical nature Nirn frowns on monotheism. With a hammer this big. That kind of Maruhkati-talk gets you erased"?

Precisely. To render the events of this game as if it didn't even happen.

Exactly. We are the rebel, Zenimax Online Studios are the King. Bring it.
