I don't want to hate, flame, troll or do anything in such a way. I would like a serious discussion. And I know that this belongs more in the online section, but I would rather have the opinion of the people that are interested in the Singleplayer games, which is here
Ever since stumbling upon Oblivion I have been a fan of Bethesda games, having around 40-50% of them. TES (and Fallout behind) is my absolute favorite game series and I love how Bethesda works with the community and allows them so much freedom (especially with modding)
Now there will be an online version of TES (and fallout). Since I read the news I could not get excited for it and now I am probably not even going to play it. That may seem a little unfair of me not even giving the game a chance. But lately my thoughts about the game have gotten quite "evil"
I never really cared about other games and how successful they are (dont care about cod, WoW, Starcraft, Diablo or any other games that I don't interact with) but now I kind of wish that the Online version of TES will become a failure. Seeing the massive interests in Game companies making the free2play games (which are actually pay2win) and that for some weird reason online version must be added everywhere, even if it doesn't fit (ex: mass effect 3) kind of gives me a nervous feeling that my favorite company may walk down the same path.
We have seen enough examples of how the games become more generalised towards a broader audience, which is fine. But now even the gameTYPES are becoming more and more of a certain kind. I know Skyrim was the greatest commercial success in Bethesda's history and they will of course contineu the Fallout and TES series, but I wonder what will happen if the games become too successful And so in hopes that Bethesda won't do the same, I am hoping for TES online to fail. What do you say? Am I too afraid of change, or is it a understandable fear?
