Is it entirely possible they decided to file for a new trademark for Skyrim to change the criteria? IIRC, their last trademark didn't include motion pictures and television programs. Or would a company not have to file for a new trademark entirely to do such a thing?

I doubt the devs (or whoever would be in charge of releasing an announcement...Todd?) would even know of the speculation threads.

Might Bethesda have refiled because of the change in definition of the computer game trademark?

Not likely... the mark definitions were updated because new things exist (like the ipod touch which isn't a cell phone but is a mobile device). The codes which create the mark are the same.

That would be my guess too. It seems they're applying new content to the classes of the trademark. The latest Trademark seems to cover more ground when it comes to online services.
I'm also thinking in terms of DLC?

edit: typo

Well, even though Zenimax filed this new trademark, I still have some hope that ESV will be announced in the next GameInformer.

If this new trademark will be used for future DLC, then we still can expect news on TES V in the next GI.
A good clue would be to check whether they let the "old" game trademark expire, but we have to wait for that to happen.
By that time the cover of GI will be known. Just a few more days!!!

The very fact that they care enough about the trademark to file another one certainly guarantees they're doing something with it. They wouldn't have spent the money if they didn't.

"We are experiencing high volumn activity on TESS and the system may be temporarily unavailable or slow. Actions are being taken to relieve the condition."

Ok, can all TES V fans just get off the Trademark Search Engine? Thank you.

I dont mind multiplayer in TES, that'd be cool. But I dont want a MMO.

Diablo 2 did it great. Still the single player game, but you could play with up to 10 of your freinds.

Trademark 85067861. Zenimax got a new trademark on Skyrim.

You can find it http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=85067861.

Zenimax applied for another trademark for Skyrim, and it is the exact same classification of one they already have that hasn't expired yet.

Must be re-registering it for renewal before it goes bad, i'd think

Maybe, but there seem to be some changes in the classification description. The latest trademark covers more 'online services' than the old one.
This could mean a number of things.
