TES V Speculation Thread # 41

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 12:43 am

Maybe, but there seem to be some changes in the classification description. The latest trademark covers more 'online services' than the old one.
This could mean a number of things.

Oblivion had the same dual trademark issue:

Trademark 85067861. Zenimax got a new trademark on Skyrim.

You can find it http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=85067861.

Well [censored], thats... [censored]. At least this means we don't have to worry about the expiring trademarks... because they will likely file new trademarks for the others soon. But this means that if the next Game Informer isn't TES V, then we'll have nothing to go on anymore.

Well... at least we can pretty much tell all the people who say it can't be in Skyrim to shove it now. :P

I haven't looked into the two oblivion trademarks, because I can't access the trademark search engine right now. Was there a difference in the class description as well?

Don't worry. This could be a trademark for future DLC, which means that the 'old' trademark can still be used for the actual game.
Even if GI doesn't show us Utopia, we still have to see whether Zenimax lets the old trademark expire.
Let's just take this one step at a time.

Both of them were for computer game software.

Here's a thought for you guys:
Why didn't Zenimax file for a new Skyrim trademark before January, the last time of renewal for the old trademarks? If they weren't intending on announcing it real soon, why not just file new Skyrim trademarks even sooner and let the old ones expire even sooner? But for some reason, they waited till the old Skyrim trademarks are about to expire.

And I don't think Bethesda is going to develop for the next-generation consoles. They can make tons of money making ESV on this generation, Fallout 3 proved that. Heck, Fallout 3 had a shorter development time than Oblivion, yet Fallout 3 sold more. Now, ESV is showing to have a longer development time than Fallout 3. FO3 had 1 year and 2 months of development after Oblivion was released before it was announced. ESV is having 7 more months of development time now than FO3 before it gets announced. It's about darn time.

True, but I wonder to what extend the trademark will be applicable if Skyrim DLC will carry the name "Skyrim" in it, Like "Skyrim, the lost wanderer" or something.

Of course this is also my attempt to keep my hopes up, because quite honestly the new trademark doesn't look good when you're waiting for an announcement....

One might think they only just found out they need more time to finish the game than they first anticipated.
Or (and I refuse to believe this!!!! :flame:) they need the full length of the new trademark for TES V.

Well the did only recently post jobs for quest writers... perhaps they are just now finishing the engine rebuild they promised and are now just gearing up to start their first meeting on a new Elder Scrolls game, whew. Now the development can begin (sarcasm).

Thanks... I just pulled an all-nighter (it's 05:40 AM here) and still need to sleep. I don't even have to try that anymore...

Perhaps they saw the genius in my IHRA Drag Racing (with talking horses) reboot idea and decided to delay TES V for a few years while they worked on it. Sorry guys. :sadvaultboy:

Did they recently post a job for a quest-writer? It doesn't say NEW next to it. It says "new" next to World Artists though.

Still, I think they have enough developers to warrant an announcement...

You guys despair too easily. Let's just wait until we see the August GI cover, then we can decide whether or not we should start crying.

BUT IT'S HOPELESS, DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?! :cryvaultboy: /melodrama

In all seriousness, though, I agree. It's not looking as hopeful as before, but that does not mean we should despair.

The Game Informer cover is of a game that wasn't at E3. Two Worlds II was at E3.

We've discussed this before, and http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3179952 Even if it was, the developers are busy focusing on Final Fantasy Versus, and they're already marketing other handheld Kingdom Hearts games.

Also, Final Fantasy Versus was revealed in Famitsu recently I believe, so that can't be it for GI either.

Eh, I think we can rule out anything like that. I feel like when someone says "fantasy game" they usually mean something very specific. Swords and elves and [censored].

In response to the DLC thing, don't they have another trademark for something called http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4004:g6o4ll.4.24? I think that could be DLC.
