TES V Speculation Thread # 41

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:30 pm

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1090035-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-164/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

if Beth let the magazine trademark run out why would they not let a 3rd party company like prima release strategy guides etc... just a thought.

It's' quite plausible that Bethesda would have done some general story work for TES V after TES IV was released, but it's just as possible that Skyrim is planned for an Elder Scrolls project other than TES V. It's even possible that Skyrim was trademarked because they had reason to believe someone else would and they didn't want any confusion to arise. This seems to be why they registered Fallout for movies.

I'll also point out that registered "Morrowind" and "Oblivion" at the same time so it could be that they're thinking quite far ahead.

It's not exactly "magazines". It's game manuals and such. Prima doesn't do manuals. :P

Besides Strategy guides ruin it, It is kinda like reading a read me in mods... who wants to do that? i enjoy that feel of walking around then talking to some random dud who asks me to do something and then i get stuck helping him making some mistakes and ect for the next two hours

Ok so a week from now the game is announced. Some website or other will jump the "official" announcement time by a few hours, beating GI to their cover reveal.

The magazine comes out the first week of August. Quakecon is August 12-15th, when all the websites and stuff will get info that's already in the mag and they'll release a short teaser trailer.

GDC is in February, they'll consider giving a technical oriented presentation too the press there.

E3 is a year from now. Someone will get up on stage to do the first live gameplay demonstration of the game.

Quakecon 2011 will see the final big info release on the game. Maybe they'll show off the construction set!

Finally between August of 2011 and Summer of 2012 they'll release the game, and everyone here will be "sick" :yuck: that Tuesday.

Sound like a plan guys?

Excellent prediction... except the "Sick that tuesday" part. I would think it would be a much more severe outbreak of various illnesses and disease that would cause people to have to "stay in bed" for at least a good week.

except for the part about the magazine coming out in August, most people believe it'll be the August issue released in July. I figure that's what you meant, though :foodndrink:

[Update: It seems that the original story which Jim sourced in this article jumped to more than a few conclusions. We just got off of the phone with Bethesda's Manager of PR and Marketing Erin Losi, who wanted to clarify a few things.

For one, Bethesda has not announced or confirmed that an Elder Scrolls MMO is in the works. As she points out, the $300 million dollars in question was received by Bethesda's parent company, ZeniMax Media. This money will be invested across a "multititude of projects."

As for the an Elder Scrolls MMO, Losi told us that no such announcement has been made. Looking at the above quote from the original QJ.net story, it appears that some drastic leaps in logic were made to reach conclusion of a "confirmation." Regarding the registered Elder Scrolls Online domain, Losi points out that this is standard practice, where Bethesda will snatch up a number of domains related to their licenses.

We apologize for any confusion we might have caused with this story, and for now, the Elder Scrolls MMO simply doesn't exist. - Nick]

No, it has not been confirmed. It was a huge leap of logic and just generally terrible journalism.

I think it would be pretty awesome if TES:V turned out to be in Akavir rather than skyrim, or something equally unexpected.

Even possible they were crossing legal swords with http://www.skyrim.com/, in order to establish IC territory.

I think they get a discount when they buy in bulk, then they track how many they sell and adjust the order accordingly.

I have a question. Can Bethesda Game Studios get upgraded versions of their middlewares (Speedtree, Havok, etc.) for free since they already licensed them?
