I can't help but feel like they filed the new trademark just to watch us go bonkers. :ahhh:

The timing's certainly interesting. It means they either A ) recently realised they need more time and have to delay the announcement or B ) are getting ready to announce it soon. Either way, it's reassuring to know that our logic with the trademarks was correct. (Surely I wasn't the only one who was paranoid? :P)

What are the possible motives for the filing?

A: they can't meet the use in commerce deadline (unlikely, given how low of a bar that is)
B: they can only meet the use in commerce deadline by announcing extremely early in the development phase (possible)
C: the trademark classifications have changed and Zenimax wanted the extra "features" that have been added (likely regardless of A and B)

Therefore, we are stuck with the possibility that B applies, and the near-certainty C does.

Translation: Zenimax "had" to file for this new trademark to gain extra protections. Whether or not they are announcing, the circumstances are such that the new application was all but inevitable. The Oblivion history proves that much. If there are secondary motives, we have only circumstantial evidence pointing towards a possible motive (expiration impending), while we have equally circumstantial evidence pointing towards the Use in Commerce being met by the middle of July (GI). Occam sez "Zenimax wants every last trademark protection they can get. Find out when the International Class 009 and 041 descriptions were updated before worrying further."

Hey, had you been gone so long that you missed where Zenimax filed for a new Skyrim trademark? For the same classifications as the game itself... thus our whole deadline to announce or lose the trademark is kinda moot. Just wanted to loop you back in if you aren't reading all the other posts about it.

That's why you save first.

How would I reload if I was dead. This is real life we're talking about, Jim! Not some video game! :P

WOW i didnt know there is a difference between real life and videogames

Difference? Ha, that's crazy talk! :P

Is this real life or the Elder Scrolls plays us as a game?
Anyhow July I believe something will be announced. I hope.....

Not if the forum software is any good, they shouldn't. I work with forum software on a day-to-day basis and, given that this software is designed with some sort of quality (which it seems to be), they shouldn't ever have to interrupt the forum as a whole to accomplish anything other than the most major of tasks - server transfer, for example. Other than that, they should be able to do all sorts of things without ever revealing what they're up to to the general user base.

They didn't when they made the New Vegas forum, and I was on the forums when they did it, so I see no reason why they'd have to take the forum down to make the TES V section.

Stab the adoring fan repeatedly, then resurrect him and do it again, is that ok? (jk)

I really hate this forum, mostly because you guys seem to find the important stuff right when I'm away :sadvaultboy:

I dearly hope that we'll get an announcement soon, I've read every post since my last (why must fate be so cruel that the new trademark is found mere posts after mine :cryvaultboy: ) And I am slightly more swayed towards the August cover being what we all want (Where's Waldo 2 :P )

i too was browsing the Fallout section when the New Vegas forum spontaneously appeared before my eyes on a refresh...i wouldn't look for the forums to be down...what i would look for is more admin attention at the bottom of the page.

my plan is to do exactly what i did with the New Vegas forum addition: a single "w00t" post, followed by nothing but lurking, lurking, lurking...

Calm down, it's a joke. I've done it on other games I've been waiting for and they got a laugh. The ES:V crowd is tense >.<

It's the most told joke ever, and it was barely funny when it was fresh.

You know why we're tense? Because we've been waiting for this game for more than 4 years. Posting rickrolls and fake links here is tantamount to going to the Duke Nukem Forever forum and making a topic saying "RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED OMG" and posting a rickroll. It's not in the least bit funny or clever and it will just make people pissed off at you.
