TES VI/VII :Akavir?

Post » Mon Aug 15, 2011 8:50 am

:wavey: I've been thinking about all the Akaviri weapons I've got stashed away in my home in Skingrad and I wonder what it would be like to go into Tamriel's neighboring (and rival) continent. I mean, come on, who wouldn't want to be a Tiger-Dragon? Or a Snake/Vampire person? Or even a flippin' MONKEY? o.o I would personally devote hours upon countless hours playing that game. But then again, I already do that for DF, MW, and Ob soooo I guess you should just take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

Please no. I hope they let us explore all of Tamriel before moving on to another continent.

hahahaha, no. Keep it as the mysterious land of the East that everyone [censored]s up on, and desperately tries to make it 2nd Asia.

We've still got other provinces to explore. After doing that then we can go to Akavir.

Care to elaborate?

I personally think it's a great idea. But I would like for the rest of Tamriel to make an apearance before we move continents

EDIT: I believe the term is Ninja'd..... badly

How about

The Elder Scrolls VI: High Rock
(doesn't sound very catchy)

The Elder Scrolls VI: Summerset Isle

Akavir would be great, though, why not?

/I think this thread should be in the TES series discussion, no?

Obsidian will make it as a spin-off series and it will be riddled with bugs.

There is an elder scrolls in High Rock, it's the second game of the series.

Anyway, Summerset Ilse would be my ideal 6th title of the series.

IMO, future ES titles should start being set in the past instead of the future. There are so many events that need to be expanded upon in lore, such as the disaster at Ionith, which WOULD make a good game set in Akavir. But I digress, Tamriel needs to be done justice first.

Valenwood. If they can somehow work the shifting continents and the jungle/foresty elements from the lore and make them into interesting gameplay elements, I can see it being a wonderfully atmospheric, unique game.

Also, why the hell am I speculating about this? Skyrim isn't out for eighty some days... still have hundreds of hours there before anywhere else in Tamriel.

Bruce Nesmith has said that there is still a lot left to do in Tamriel.

Personally I would like to see them deal with all the provinces with modern, reasonable graphics (I'm looking at you Morrowind (though in reality it was only Vvardenfell and Solstheim), Daggerfall and Hammerfell) before they deal with Akivir. In fact, I would almost prefer not going there: it seems a poorly hobbled together lore experiment at this point.

Bethesda should let us explore all of Tamriel first. I saw a thread the other day where someone thought it would be a good idea to hire Obsidian to develop a TES. This would be the perfect option for that. They could develop Akavir or some other unseen land. TES fans get more and we get to see another developer's take on TES without them touching Tamriel which has a far more sacred status to most fans. I personally think Obsidian would do extremely well. Main complaints about their games are bugs, lack of polish and that they never have enough time to complete the game. Those can be easily fixed by giving them enough time. Rpgs they can do better than almost anyone.

I don't want to go to Akivir, and I don't want to play games set in Tamriel's lore or history. Akivir right now is a mysterious land we know nothing about, it should stay mysterious for a little while longer.

There could be some Akivir cameos in other games, as long as they don't half-ass it. (I'm looking at you Oblivion's Tsaeci modeled and voiced exactly like an Imperial.)

Same reason applies for not wanting games set in a historical period; they all have a sense of mystery, and obviously, history. They are the foundations and backbones upon which the lore is set, and I think its more fun to imagine what the merethic era, or the aylieds, etc. were like than to see them.

I'm hoping that after Skyrim, we wont have region specific places anymore, but have parts of different regions in one game.

Graphics have a finite limit. Look at Skyrim, how much more detail into faces can they manage? How much more detail can you put on each tree? Look at how little graphics in games change in the last little while and how wildly they developed from early PS2 games to late PS2 games. I severely doubt that we will ever again have nearly as large a gap to span as there was between Oblivion and Morrowind. For people who didn't game at that time Morrowind's graphics make it nearly unplayable, I doubt that such issues would be half as drastic Oblivion to Skyrim, or even TES6 to Oblivion.

This isn't it the right category on the board so this thread will probably get moved. But I suppose I'll put my two cents in and say I've been thinking something along the lines of: "The Elder Scrolls VI: Argonia" as I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong, that the Argonians took over Morrowind making it a larger province and it would make sense for the next generation of consoles to handle a game as big as Black Marsh and Morrowind put together. Just my thoughts.
