Windows 7 - now I downloaded directx_mar2008_redist.exe and unpacked the files - went to APR2007_d3dx9_33_x64.cab and extracted d3dx9_33.dll to my system32 folder - still no joy
Do I need to reinstall directx 9 ?
Any idees ?

It also needs to be in your C:\windows\sysWOW64 dir.
I installed all of it just to be sure.

Haven't restarted - though I think it does not matter

Well now that's a Windows problem
First, I would reboot, then check your event logs for more info.

A quick google search seems to suggest either do a scan disk to fix faulty sectors or update your .NET framework.

Nope - no much luck restarting - guess I have to go for a full directx 9 install ?
