Tes4edit_examine my mod list

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:47 am

Where to Start...Hmmm Ok i don't know this program at all. I did a lot of reading and followed the Guides to clean a few mods. Thats great. Get the same outcome as everyone else and Oblivion is still Rock solid. 6-8 hour sessions are my Norm. BUT I really want to understand this program (TES4edit).
I have tried a few times and my brain just gets lost. I would love if we could die-sect one part of this, and I think it may help me and others.

I load ALL my mods up in TES4Edit. I browse around seeing some RED lines here and there. some make sense others don't.
I am gonna pick one such Red line. I first see this red line while looking at the UOP. but soon notice that the Mod with the Weird Edit is (Sunken Ships).
I don't even know what to call this edit. so I will show a PIC

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee72/camaro_69_327/Oblivion%202011/Tes4Question_001.jpg in the pic we see NAM0 & NAM9 and the Oblivion Default
-262144.000000
-282624.000000

286720.000000
245760.000000
The First 28 Mods listed agree with these Numbers.

The very last Mod (Winner?) is the Bashed Patch . It shows the # back at default. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee72/camaro_69_327/Oblivion%202011/Tes4Question_004.jpg So I lost the Edits for the TWMP mods?

BUT in the midst of all that there is this,.http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee72/camaro_69_327/Oblivion%202011/Tes4Question_002.jpg Is this a wild edit,? Seamed weird that this is the only mod that the 2 top #'s are the exact same and only one is RED.

If I should just Close Tes4Edit and not try to understand this don't be afraid to say so. I have 230 mods loading an FCOM ++++ That runs straight 8 hour sessions no crashes, but do get unexplained Crashes once in a while. Thats why I am looking in TES4Edit.

Is there a Book I can read that explains Tes4Edit? Hope this wasn't to confusing...lol
Thank you for your time and patience...helping an old guy wrap his head around this!!

If you want to get a deeper understanding for tes4edit, grab a copy of this: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8629

That was made with FO3Edit in mind, but it's the exact same program so 99.9% of the stuff mentioned there will be applicable.

For your specific case, yes, you've lost the edits made by the heightmaps. Specifically the NAM0 & NAM9 fields are for the map dimensions of the worldspace. Onra's Heighmaps expand the size of the usable area, which makes the map bigger. I haven't looked in awhile but there's bound to be a secondary plugin included with those that deals with getting the map sizes back in order.

Basically what you're seeing is an example of the "rule of one", the last edit to the record wins. This won't crash the game or anything but it will make using the map awkward if you're using the one meant for the heightmaps mod.

The information tab at the bottom of the tes4edit display explains the various background and text colors.

If you're looking for possible issues, you're on the right track by hunting down the reds. Just keep in mind not all red conflicts are bad.

Thanks.
Will give that a read. Is that one edit an example of a way to find a dirty edit. IS this a dirty edit or something else? http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee72/camaro_69_327/Oblivion%202011/Tes4Question_002.jpg I do understand that last one wins(in this case Bashed patch. I see other weird things when i look around so will read more and see if this makes more sense. And My MAP is all good. so something else is fixing the Size. That is what this is referring too? The size of my MAP? and or the Start Cord?

OK off to read more....lol

Edit: Cross out Dirty as this is a Wild one...lol

The NAM0 and NAM9 are the X/Y limits on "usable dimensions" for the map. Usually when those are wrong and you have a world map dependent on certain dimensions the map markers end up out of place. Maybe in this instance it centers properly on all sides so it's not an issue. I don't know. Usually it just messes things up a a bit.

The Sunken Ships conflict is what we've dubbed a "wild edit". It's not dirty, because the edit is valid. It's wild because the CS made the change but it wasn't intentional. Since it gets wiped out immediately by the next mod in the load order, it's harmless.

Thank you for that link. I now understand more of TES4Edit. BUT OMG if i filter for Conflicts 90% of my 200+ mods are in Conflict. I can See why OOO is missing the inebrition, i can see why AN is not working cause real lights is wiping out what its trying to Do . But now i am not sure what to Fix where. This is looking more like i need to Start over and Use this program, as I add mods one at a time. That is how all my mods were installed but without using TES4Edit.

Things i noticed drilling around and getting lost...lol

I have an EYE mod that is getting Stomped on and none of it is making it into the Game. But looks like there are replacements for everything.(uninstall?)
A soul gem mod in the same boat. its being overwritten by OOO.(same Uninstall?)
Bag of Holding is wiping out OOO's inebriation (at least thats what it looked like.) (Change load order?)
Real lights wiping out things from All Natural.(load order)
Other mods wiping out Real lights. (load order)
So many other things way to many to list.

OMG there is so much I did not know about my install. game runs fantastic Should I mess with this or Just continue playing...lol
BOSS is Setting Load order. ALL mods are installed thru BAIN.

Things like the inebriation I knew were missing but had no clue how to find out what was causing it. I am not even sure I am running TES4Edit right.

As I said, most conflicts are going to be harmless. You shouldn't get yourself in a panic because of the level of oranges and reds you're seeing. It's unavoidable. This is why Wrye Bash exists. :)

The first thing I'd ask is did you also make sure your Bashed Patch was loaded along with the rest? It should be, because then you'll see what it's setting and how it works with the rest.

The eye mod probably needs some sort of tagging in order to assert itself. BOSS should have suggested this if it knows about it.
The soul gem mod probably needs to be tagged as well. Unless it's doing the same thing OOO is, in which case it's probably just redundant and can be removed.
Can't see why a bag of holding would do anything to inebriation, but I don't use either one of those mods so I'd have no idea.
RL and AN should both be happy with each other assuming you're properly using the Bashed Patch.

Most likely you're running it just fine. You just need to get more familiar with the specifics of each conflict. You'll find that 99% of what you think are conflicts with AN and RL are fully resolved by the Bashed Patch.

Game runs so will leave it Be...lol

Ya the Bash patch is loading also. IT(patch) wins a lot of the time, and its stuff I know are imported, but theirs other mods (Soul Gems) that one looses to another. Seeing that OOO has the soul gems why would I need the Improved soul gems. Didn't know OOO had that.I tried to find the inebriation thing again but couldn't.Takes 23 mins to Load all mods with the Filter. So much red.
Again thanks for that link took some of the ? out of using TES4Edit. Think I am gonna use this as a way to get my hands dirty with TES4Edit. If i stumble across that Inebration thing again I will take notes...lol
