its only in the dlc vile lair that I have noticed it. all the torches and their holders vanished. how can I put the meshes back into place without actually having to redownload the dlc?

If the problem is truly caused by cleaning with TES4Edit, then you did the cleaning wrong.
Reinstall the DLC.
