Tes4lodgen Problem?

Post » Thu Oct 21, 2010 1:28 am

Hi, all.

I've had similar issues long ago, but now it is worse than ever, with Windows 7, new PC and new built game...

With ready to go game I tried to run TES4LODGen, it started well until it stopped with message:
[00:15] Loader: Fatal:
[00:15] Loader: finished

So I closed TES4LODGen, removed bgBalancingEVLAMEAddition.esp from Data folder, started TES4LODGen, it stopped and gave me similar message for
bgBalancingEVLAMEAddition.esp; bgBalancingEVOptionalNPCDiversityLAME.esp; bgIntegrationEV; bgIntegrationEV - Alternative NPC Faces by LazyMonk and Bashed Patch, 0.

After I removed all these esp files from the Data folder, TES4LODGen ran to the end and finally created the Distant LOD for my game (remains to see what quality :D).

The thing is, my load order is correct, according to requirements of the mods involved and BOSS.
What is causing this problem?
How to solve it?
Thanks

Are you saying that you indeed had "bgBalancingEVCore.esp" active in your load order, loading before all the other bg plugins you mention? If so, TES4LODGen is wrong, but to me it looks like your load order was missing a required master, thus NOT correct.

You solve it by installing bg's mods correctly. You may want to take a look at my RBP and LAME omod installers (follow the link in my signature).

First error: Your load order was wrong. You had bgBalancingEVCore.esp loading AFTER bgBalancingEVLAMEAddition.esp while it needs to be BEFORE bgBalancingEVLAMEAddition.esp. Move bgBalancingEVCore.esp up to resolve.
Second error: You removed bgBalancingEVCore.esp. Those other mods are all dependent on it, so when you removed that ESP, those others became unusable. Put bgBalancingEVCore.esp back in to resolve.

This can happen sometimes if the dates and times on the .esps are too close together, I have seen Tes4edit generate a fatal error even if they're in the right order (might apply to Tes4LodGen too)... the solution is to simply redate the ones it is choking on--giving a little more space in between the time stamps.. even 30 seconds is enough.

Something to consider here is that if the dates are too close together, or identical, tes4edit and tes4lodgen aren't the only things that might choke. The game itself will not behave reliably and may load things out of order. That's actually more insidious because it won't necessarily crash. Things will just not be working properly. tes4lodgen did you a favor by dying during load and telling you something was out of line.
