TES5 rating: blood and boobs

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:17 am

Yes, the way the weapons as they got more powerful caused bone and flesh chunks to fly everywhere from a single kill when only the necessary force needed was used to take an enemy down... then there were the mutant outposts and hideout spots with gore bags... really darn nasty and a college person can pack more into 2 weeks then some people depending on the schedule.

If you're on the PC you should look into downloading http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7318 that reduce or eliminate the gore. You're really missing out on an amazing game and not playing it because of the gore is a shame. In my opinion at least.

I'm not bothered by nudity and to be honest it is my game and what I see in it should be my business.

ERRR! You're wrong! It's not your game. It's your copy of the game that everyone has access to. That includes children, as well as people who are uncomfortable talking about... stuff (like me, for example, and you'll see me avoiding the usage of the word).Anyways, if you want to ... then DOWNLOAD. A. MOD. You get the base game. You realize it's missing something that will give it an AO rating. Instead of cussing out Bethesda and crushing the disc, you download a mod, and now you're satisfied with your game without ruining it for anyone else.

Anyways, I remember reading this great reason for not having "the s word" and "the n word." IT'S IN REAL LIFE. It's easy to do, and it's literally all over! It's in so many places it makes me disappointed in the direction of humanity. Shampoo commercials. Magazines. Internet ads (anyone remember the old Evony ads?). Doesn't anyone realize that TES is a place for things you can't legally or easily do in real life? Criminal activities such as stealing and murdering. Fantasy elements like magic and mythical creatures. Things I like such as melee combat, adventuring and saving the world. Living in a "medieval-like" world (which is why TES will NOT HAVE GUNS! Guns are very late medieval! You want 'em, download a mod or play Fallout). Sure, it has stuff we can do, like bartering and trading, but seriously. When there's nothing new to fight, what's there to do? How about going out and making tons of gold, and seeing how long it takes you to give it all to a beggar 1 coin at a time, just so you can kill him/her and take it back, then get into the worlds biggest fight with guards and casting frenzy spells on all the civilians?

As you can see, if Bethesda adds "relations" (had to say that 'cause I can't get it out of my head since Brian from Family Guy said it while listening to Stewie's song {http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2coy1ZzZbg}:P), that ruins the game for lots of people, because (I think) it's harder to take a mechanic out than to put one in.

I would also like to add this. six sells for a reason. As human beings, we are genetically designed to like six. There's no way around that. six creates life and we all have some very innate desire to procreate. If we didn't, there'd be a lot less people in the world. But as a result, people like six. If you say you don't, its because you A) haven't hit puberty B) your parents monitor what you do online (Which is a good thing, they should) or C) you genuinely have some deficiency in your libido. But otherwise, people like six.

I understand that not all people like six in their video games. But video games are art and art generally has the purpose of not only entertaining, but also to portray the culture in which it was derived. Its why six is in art from EVERY single culture that has been discovered and why it will continue to be in all art, along with alcohol. I agree that six in video games can be very distasteful at times (ie Custer's Last Stand) but there are ways to do it tastefully as well (Ie Mass Effect) Just because a game has six in it, doesn't make it the sims.

agree haha like the multiple choice thing :P

I for one want six, VIOLENCE, RACISM, HORROR, DIEING CHILDREN (eaten by deadra), all manners of EVIL AND DEPRAVITY in a game with M rating, you know why!! cause its funner ya that's why, I want to see thieves that steal, prosttutes (male and female and BEAST < argonian maid ehhh LOL), crime, people suffering in dark dungeons and wealthy lords eating fat and meat and laughing their butts off to people's misfortunes.

marriage and kids .. meh not so much cause I won't play the game THAT long, so six would do, dragon age was funner because u could form deeper "relationships" with other characters in the game, it added depth, I want that.

They should just return to what the series was before it was cencored.

Believable mediaval fantasy world? hokers in inns. Believalbe NPCs? Those who also have sixual desires. Believable House of Dibella? Bare briasts. Believable Dark Seducers? Something that could be considered seducing.

Anything mentioned goes under +18 or (M)ature. They've done that all before, there was no reason to change the series... In fear of what the concerned parents or raving feminists might think about it. Instead of those people, the game makers should please the gamers.

You know, I think my biggest objection to the six and relationship thing is that I don't want it to become a minigame a la GTA or a dating sim. I think I would rather have hokers in the inns or female monsters like God of War had. Boobs? Maybe, but gross harpy boobs etc. At the base level I think the TES games have always had an acceptable level of nudity. If my character goes swimming, they're not going in full armour. I just don't want to have to take care of a wife and kids while I'm out saving the world.

six isn't something everyone can do legally or easily in real life.

Well, it can be easy OR legal.

Anyways, the point is that's in real life and there's already enough of it to go around twice, so we don't need it anywhere else.

And, by the way, I'm not some angry protester that's all-out against it. I don't hate "it" (avoiding the word doesn't count as hate), I just feel it as a more private thing, and games are not a private place in unaltered form, so that's why they need the game to not have it. There will always be children playing the game. If they see it and commit it in the game they're more likely to do it a lot more in real life, and not wanting to wait, and they resort to illegality. Sure, people will think that this goes for violence, too. Not as much. I first played GTA when I was like five. I've played many violent games, and have developed of taste for combat. Guess what? Never once have I started or gotten into a fight. Never once have I intentionally harmed someone (unless they deserved it). I'm like a bloodthirsty pacifist. I don't start the fights, but I end them. My fight against $£Χ has now ended. PEACE! No... WAR! WAR OUT HOMEYS!

Must "mature themes" always equal dismemberment and full frontal nudity?
Because it doesn't.

I'd like to see Beth craft an engaging, deep gameworld. Such a world will have to include the our darker elements.
I want sixual themes, violence, racism, poverty and all the other controversies to exist in the game, but I don't need it in Bloodglorious 3D-pormovision™.
Graphics-vise, I'd be more than happy with just realistic blood-effects and an occasional sideboob :P

As for relationships a la BioWare..better they spend time on making the game instead IMO

In my opinion, having six could also be like you both step into the bed, and then the screen goes dark or something like that. That brings six, but not unnecessary nudity. Romance-able partners are a must for me, as it brings so much new roleplay choices, and it just gives that little extra realistic touch.

in all honesty, although I like to see a more "realistic" game (seen 6 wars in real life, nothing "bad" surprises or shocks me anymore, sad I know boohoo me) if I were to chose one thing to change this time, I would love LOVE to see beautiful people, just handsome people and sixy people walking around, eye candy if you will.... and maybe making out :P

plz I mean people in oblivion were not sixy or even presentable sometimes :(

dragon age had better NPCs (although women could use a little realism touch, not all women look like hourglass super models)

People should be ugly, with the occasional rare good looking person between them. There isn't really any make up in TES games like we have in the real life nowadays, so people can't hide their ugly faces behind a thick layer of maquillage. And cosmetic surgery is also not a realistic choice for the NPC's :P

Exactly! Have you seen (or just used common sense) the average peasants of the Middle Ages? You could guess that they were dirt ugly from all the work they'd do, alongside diseases and natural ugliness. Their best dentistry was a swig of whiskey and having your teeth pulled (this is sarcasm... to some extent). Some shopkeepers might look half-decent, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The only people who would look good were either those who were lucky or rich. Sadly, not many were either.

I don't understand what all the phobia of romance in TES is about... I assume the people protesting it have seen Mass Effect's six scenes? Obviously Bioware then went and let themselves down with DA:O but Mass Effect was extremely tasteful.

Why not have something like that but totally optional? What would it detract from the game? People who want it use it, people who don't want it don't use it. Simple. People who use it and don't like it are the minority that can be safely ignored.

Since we're getting into beliefs, I believe that people who associate six with love, exclusively, are mistaken. And generally, since they never experimented before marriage, end up putting too much importance on sixual attraction when finally choosing a mate. Thereby, making a very uneducated decision and ending up in a loveless marriage with an idiot because, when they first touched that person, hormones started to rage through their head and they mistook these new sixual feelings for love.

I believe that six is an important part of a romantic relationship. But love is complex, whereas six is primal and simple. sixuality, in general, is a common trait among all humans, and I believe that it is something we should, and indeed have shared in public settings over the course of human history.

That being said, I still agree that being able to have six in the game would be an unnecessary addition that would cause the game to be categorized as porm.

The way it was done in Fable 2, as part of micromanaging the family, might work. But I wouldn't go out of my way to get into a relationship with an NPC, although some people might. And I think if relationships are included at all, they should be sparked by a quest and the reward would be a companion who you keep in the house or take to fight with you.

On the other hand, sixuality in general, as in strip clubs and prosttutes and nudity in temples, is very TES and should be included.

Well, then, I believe that as a part of the only civilized race on this planet, we are not primal animals, and we shouldn't embrace what we are not.
Animals are animals. They are not civilized, so they do that out in the open. It is acceptable for animals because they are what they are.
Humans are civilized. Being civilized comes with the responsibilities of trying to better ourselves. We do not better ourselves by having open intercourse (I got over it).

Nudity in temples? Sure. That's not useless toplessness, as it actually has a reason other than sixual exploitation. Strip clubs, on the other hand... maybe one. We don't need more than what the people of Tamriel, not ourselves, need want. Nothing hardcoe, either. Something like in Morrowind, where the women are just ugly enough to not be attractive...

BTW I'm not over it anymore, and now feel like this:

Some miscellaneous things I want to point out:
Daggerfall had full frontal nudity with the Nymph characters.
Morrowind had almost nvde erotic dancers in a tavern.
six was heavily implied in the female gang of thieves quest in Oblivion.

If we were to look at Fallout 3, even though it's part of a different series, I might be able to see romance and families becoming a part of the Elder Scrolls.
Fallout 3 had a prosttute I believe, and there were children all throughout the game. Neither became a major controversy to my knowledge. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Bethesda might have learned that it is acceptable to have children and "romance" in their future games. My money still says that both exist only because they were major parts of the Fallout world.

With all that in mind, I still don't think a romance option will be in the game. If it does become a major theme, I won't be too bothered by it. I won't be using it.
I never join the Fighter's guild because that doesn't interest me as well. It's there, but it has no affect on my characters.
TES to me just always seemed like a game where you go in a dungeon, kill creatures, take loot, buy better weapons, and repeat. Most if not all of the elements in TES fit into that concept, and I don't see how romance would.

Humans are civilized. Being civilized comes with the responsibilities of trying to better ourselves. We do not better ourselves by having open intercourse (I got over it).

Civilization is a construct of society. Humans existed before society. Humans weren't always civilized. Besides, civilization is a relative term.

Did you know that in ancient Greece, it was a rite of passage for a young boy to be tutored by an older man from outside the family? And, in many cases, the two would share a sixual relationship, for intellectual and growing purposes (no pun intended  ).

Also, in Mesopotamian culture, they believed that six was the highest form of civilization. In one of their myths, Enkidu was raised by wolves and completely wild, but after being seduced by a prosttute, he put on clothing and became civilized.

Furthermore, did you know that the one and only trait humans possess that no other animals possess is the fact that we enjoy hot peppers? As far as sixuality is concerned, we are no different from our other mammalian cousins.

Nudity in temples? Sure. That's not useless toplessness, as it actually has a reason other than sixual exploitation. Strip clubs, on the other hand... maybe one. To continue my point about Mesopotamia, did you know that the temple to Ishtar, goddess of love, housed prosttutes? And, on the day of Ishtar's festival, men would line up to have six with these prosttutes because it was their spiritual obligation. It may seem racy to you. But it's immature to scoff, because they happened to take this very seriously. Indeed, prosttutes were held in very high esteem and admired as, arguably, the most civilized members of society, underneath nobility.

I keep saying that the TES universe is based of the ancient ages, so there is something greatly missing when the whole world is rated 'G.'

I read, I liked

Actually, I would like to point out that humans are the only species which can act counter intuitively so that also separates us. But thats besides the point. I feel like a lot of people think that six=porm and if it were in TES, that would make TES porm. But porm is sixual images designed only for arousal purposes. If used in a story to enforce a thematic element that doesn't even come close to porm. six can easily be used metaphorically, as it can be very representative in storytelling, especially in relating a character to an animal, relating one culture to another, or any other multitude of things. In fact, that was how it was used in Mass Effect. Because you could have a sixual relationship with any of the crew. Including aliens. And since hostility towards aliens was a big issue, it made them seem very human that you could engage with them in intercourse. But ultimately, it can be used for a variety of purposes that doesn't have to make TES porm

Actually, you're more accurate than I was being.

Because enjoying hot peppers is a result of our ability to act counter-intuitively. We feel the pain of the capsaicin burning our tongues and think, "mmmmmmmm...."

Then again, lots of animals possess the lobe of the brain that controls inhibitions. It's hard to tell for sure whether or not animals ever do anything against their instincts without being able to tell exactly what they're thinking.

When a tame lion plays with his master and is consciously more gentle than when playing with a fellow lion, that may be evidence of counter-intuitive thinking. Or, it could just be that this particular lion's instincts have been shaped differently because of its unique environment.

What? Who cares!? JUST GIVE ME AN ELDER SCROLLS GAME!!!

But more on topic, I don't mind gore at least its not chop-the-guys-head-off,-look-at-his-spine-crack,-see-his-muscles-rip-apart-and-watch-him-bleed-to-death type of thing.

About six. No. No no no no NO. Why the hell would I want sixual cut-scenes when I'm playing an interactive open-world game about adventuring and exploring? If I wanted to watch six scenes like in ME or DA:O (Which aren't even true six scenes, they just show the player kissing the unfortunate victim and some other boring stuff like that), then I would just go and play linear games like ME and DA:O or simply "surf" teh internetz. Useless, pointless and boring. This idea should be erased from the existence and banned to the Waters of Oblivion to suffer for an eternity, burning in the cold flames of death, doom and destruction while getting knifed and chopped into pieces by Mehrunes Dagon and Sheogorath.

If I wanted to play The Sims, I'd play The Sims. If I wanted to play Fable, I'd play Fable. If I wanted to play Duke Nukem, I'd play Duke Nukem.
I want to play TES, though, and I hope Bethesda will make it like TES. Not The Sims, Fable, or Duke Nukem. That's how I see it.

If TESV, or any other TES for that matter, had some relationship portion of the game it wouldn't make it any less TES

That's like saying no I don't want Fallout New Vegas to have guns because I don't want to play Halo

The movies I watched about medieval times, almost always involve at least one brutal death, much/less like the one you described. Realistic gore and medieval call each others.

Cutscenes! I was just gonna say that. MCA companions work without a cutscene, all from FPP. I think it was a little funny but still was a great experience.

Still mods are the right way to do this. But I agree with Daniel Kay about giving some more life to NPCs with some romance.
