TESIV:POSItive help with step 6 of #10

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 11:34 pm

Hi, I am using a guide found in the TESIV:POSItive website found through Waltkthroughs>Complete Guide to Modded Oblivion (with BAIN) > Part II: Before Installing MODS. Here is a link http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/baininstallguide/installutilities
Regarding step 6 of 10: "Delete the obse folder afterward
>> notes: now that OBSE is installed, only use the obse_loader.exe to launch the game"
I have completed the previous 5 steps but am reluctant to delete the obse folder for fear I have misinterpreted the steps. The obse folder i am thinking of deleting is one that has these files (alphabetically arranged) starting with ArrayVar.cpp and ending with VarMap.h . There is another folder labeled obse aswell further at the beginning of the the route with 7 folders therein. Which seems my only other choice. Those 7 folders in obse are labelled " installer, loader, loader_common, obse, bose_common, obse-editor, steam_loader"
Sorry if I have put this post up in the wrong section.

Tomlong is correct - once you've copied the files to your Oblivion folder, you don't need the OBSE folder anymore.

So I will delete the folder obse with the 7 folders in it. Which is the obse folder closer to the route. I will post if I find this works out as the wrong choice.
Thanks Peace out.

This all stems from using the the guide previously referenced in conjuction with compressed file obse_0020_beta_5.
As soon as I finished step 6 of 10 and went to step 11 ...
"11.Create shortcuts for the OBSE launcher Oblivion\obse_loader.exe and Wrye Bash Oblivion\Mopy\bash.py:
1.Right-click on "obse_launcher.exe"
I found I could not find the obse_launcher.exe
I found a loader but no launcher. I unzipped the original obse_0020_beta_5 to see if i accidentally missed it. It isn't there.
I am checking a previous version now to see if it reveals itself.

Okay I have now found I am a noob:). Can someone please help me find the obse launcher.exe. My eyes can't see it.
I cannot find the exe. Am I supposed to fist create a folder labeled obse_launcher.exe? then create a shortcut of it by right clicking on it? Be back in awhile.

The obse_loader.exe is the launcher.

And by the way, you are looking at an older version of the site. The new one is http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/

I have windows 7 premium , which I now realize may be part of the problem and i have already the previous steps from the old link without the 'as administrator' part. The new link did it. Cheers

Just been to the new link. The old site had a walkthrough to installing fcom for modders in mind and this new site does not. What is the best place to find the most recent thread to FCOM installation now?

Being new it may get a bit confusing with the optional next to the mod name. I would recommend for a first timer to install Frans, OOO, Warcry, MMM, FCOM, uFCOM update. Bobs Armory you can, Armamentium needs some folder work to get the right files so probably skip for this, COBL is OK to install just choose the 00 Core folder (do not install COBL - Tweaks as that is in uFCOM, COBL Races only if you will use COBL Races), 02 Patch Folder (you will overwrite MMM - COBL.esp with the updated one during the MMM installation - has a separate link to download. You will then overwrite with the Loot drop merchant changes. For the Item interchange do that separate and not from within the COBL 1.72 installation and only choose Item Interchange - extraction.esp and Item Interchange - Placement for FCOM (You can use the Frostcrag file if you have the DLC Frostcrag installed).

Just some advice, follow if you want :) Start small and when you know more you can add.

Thanks, ill keep your advice as I go. I did find a updated walkthrough that I didn't know was there until I did a search for it at http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/? This site seems to offer a real nice walkthrough to getting started with modding and getting all the tools
This is the guide I will use for the fcom install as I find it easily laid out
here is that link page=guides_mod_installation&subpage=fcom_installation_guide

I will also use http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1160205-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom/ for reference too.

I have only modded oblivion before by cutting and pasting and zipping to directories manually without any aids except obmm. I hope I am ready for this. :) Be Well.
If anyone thinks that there is an easier guide out there to install fcom and have the options of building on that install please say.
Over and out for awhile, California
