It's completely irrelevant if it's happened before or not, because there's always a first for everything. ZOS has just shown (only a few days ago) that they don't stick to their guns regarding "content being available to everyone through the subscription" (the Imperial race in the CE for example), so people have every right to be anxious about it.
Some people justify it by saying "they need their money back" but if that's the case then it can be applied here too by saying "we don't have enough subscribers so we're gonna try to make enough revenue from selling p2w items in the cash shop".

We'll see.

You can't really use FE as an example - it started out absolutely fine, then ran out of money and was picked up by Gamersfirst, who then deliberately turned it into a F2P cashcow. Sure, it's certainly an example of how things can go terribly wrong - but not everything goes that way - and if they don't start out as cashcows, then really the only thing that sends them that way are buy-outs, like SOE with Vanguard etc.

I have a long-standing sub with Rift so that might be why i'm not seeing any pop ups - but at launch, before it went F2P/sub, the only time you got cash-shop information was on the launcher. Even now, it's not P2W anyway - it just has odds and sods really.

So why can't such nice dresses be found through quests? I mean, why do we need to pay real money for them? We're already paying a sub, and for what? I mean, if they're going to limit the content they said we'd get every 4-6 weeks just to fill up the cash shop, then what's the point of the sub again? Oh right... To be able to PLAY the game, stuff other games offer for FREE! Gotcha.

Where are these mythical dresses for sale at? I would like to see them, or where they said you have to buy dresses in the shop.

It is not irrelevant if it happened before or not. It is highly relevant. You cant just judge something on... Nothing, and then when someone ask what your basis is for it, you say its something you cant prove happened before. Cmon man
