TESV Acceleration Layer, thread 5

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 12:44 am

I don't know if this has been reported, I remember seeing sync issues in the early threads.
I started a troubleshooting thread, and had forgotten about tesval.
http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1331259-objects-only-animate-when-looked-at/
With tesval, interactive objects, like doors, chests or puzzle pillars only animate and activate when the are on-screen. I can even click to open a chest, swing the camera away, and not actually get the inventory screen until i look back at the chest.

thats a vanilla issue

I believe Squall is correct. I also believe that got worse with that last patch, cause that issue got a whole lot worse for me.

I have seen this question asked before. I do believe that Squall Leonhart is correct.

i'm not positive, but i might have gotten higher fps with this tesval than with skyboost, but i switched to skyboost because tesval seemed to bypass or ignore the functions i remapped to my mouse (eg 4th and 5th buttons
simulated '[' and ']' so i could use them in skyrim). though this may probably be more of an issue with skse, has anyone else had issues with mouse software?

I have K7 and with enb silenthillfix or antifreeze it is playable. Just set forcesinglecore=true and you'll see it if you have K7.

I also send message to Beth to support single core processors.
For example isn't there simple procedure to read processor info and them choose to set cores affinity when Skyrim launches? I'm a total rookie for this.

There are mouse issues and keybinding issues in vanilla Skyrim. I don't think TESVAL or Skyboost affects either of those.

I do not know how SKSE might affect that, if you are having problems with SKSE you should be posting in the SKSE thread http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1321294-wipz-skyrim-script-extender-skse/.

You should be asking this on the Nexus forum. Keep in mind that there are a lot of images up already and I don't really see a need to have any more added. Aside from that, the comparisons that were uploaded about a week ago did not actually qualify as comparisons as they were 4 different images of 4 different places.

All 4 of those images contained the before/after framerates for Vanilla, TESVAL and SkyBoost. They were framerate comparisons. How does one "qualify" for comparisons?

If you are concerned about "a lot of images up already" then why did you approve the latest one? It's a comparison taken in the exact place as a few of the other screenshots and was uploaded days after mine. o.O IMO it would make more sense to approve the ones from different locations, rather than all the same.

Anyway, for anyone who would like to see another comparison, here are some I made to give you an idea of the performance:

Go ahead and re-upload them, now that I understand how you set them up I will approve them. I couldn't tell from just hovering over those images what they did.

You may want to add something to the first post saying that SSE3 is required - the code uses HADDPS, which wasn't available in SSE2.

Done, now to add that to the description and read me on Nexus.

Does anyone know why I get
"plugin (Tesval path) (00000001 TESVAL 00000002) reported as incompatible during query"
instead of
"plugin (Tesval path) (00000001 TESVAL 00000001) loaded correctly"
in the SKSE log file?

I am not able to post links yet, so I couldn't post the full path, I hope you understand whatsoever

If it were working correctly it would be "plugin (Tesval path) (00000001 TESVAL 00000002)" loaded correctly.

I'm not sure what is wrong, do you have the latest Skyrim patch? and version .4.02 or .4.03 of SKSE installed?

I have the latest skyrim patch, yeah. I don't have any problem running SKSE, as other mods (like Skyrim UI) work well.
I even tried installing previous versions of TESVAL and unistalling the whole game, then reinstalling using only patch 1.3.7 and SKSE .4.01, but nothing.

Any guess?

Try SKSE v 1.4.3 and game version 1.3.10, maybe?

Should I still run TESVAL if I already have the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1337259-steam-beta-1415-release-notes/? Will there be redundancies due to that? Or will TESVAL still further optimize a 1.4-patched Skyrim? My CPU is an http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athlon_II#Rana_.2845_nm_SOI_with_immersion_lithography.29 if this info is needed.

One of the 1.4 patch fixes are:

TESVAL won't work with the 1.4 beta patch. It is also not strictly needed. TESVAL made targetted improvements to areas to increase performance by inlining some functionality and providing a more optimized implementation. The 1.4 patch adds optimization across the entire application with inlining and results in a larger performance improvement than either TESVAL or Skyboost provided.

In theory further improvements might be possible by replacing the MMX code with SSE4.1 code for the latest processors - but I don't know what sort of real world improvements would occur. I don't know of any plans for a new version of TESVAL that would do that.

AlexanderBlade posted on his site that while Bethesda appears to have fixed this with Skyrim the problem is still there with both fallouts.

Any chance for a FO3AL or FNVAL?

I am planning on leaving TESVAL up for pre 1.4 patch players. I do not believe that this is needed for versions 1.4 and later.

If anyone does want to make this compatible with 1.4 and the new version of SKSE, I will be happy to upload it if they do not want to manage uploading this themselves..

If anyone does want to make improvements and wishes me to upload that I am also happy to do that.
