TESV Acceleration Layer, thread 5

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 3:04 pm

it was getting confusing back when everybody posted their own fix for the initial version with the bug in it. now it's even worse with "which one needs skse and which one doesn't", "which one runs on win8", "which one has trouble with skyui"...

i think the best thing to do at this point is to get skyboost it's own thread. just because it's (vaguely) based on this doesn't justify all this confusion.

Very well, I will start a thread for that and when Alexander gets an official thread of his own started, that one can be locked.

Okay , I'll start separate thread for SkyBoost tomorrow  , but the point for now is that SkyBoost may have glitches from the TesVal code so it's necessary to fix all that we have now in TesVal and only after this continue with others

Regarding questions in previous thread
Alexander, it would be helpful if you would post some information about how to tell if your version is working and the differences between this version and your version in the new thread.
1) TesVal is SKSE plugin . SkyBoost is asi plugin for asi loader (asi loader is dinput8.dll) , SkyBoost has no ScriptDragon binding , it is only using the same way to load libraries with asi extension as ScriptDragon does (using asi loader) .
2) SkyBoost is based on TesVal code and has additional improvements which in the current state (r2) can get you few more fps than TesVal .
3) To determinate SkyBoost load state you can look into asiloader.log file and you should see there something like ASI loaded : "SkyBoost.asi" at 0x02570000 . Due to many mods which are dealing with memory patching you can't know for sure that SkyBoost or TesVal did memory patching correctly (addresses can `collide`) . In the r2 version of SkyBoost i did additional code to prevent such `collides` but I'm not sure how efficient this preventing is so I can tell you that if you can load the game then SkyBoost is definitely working .

So far SkyBoost r2 is working for everyone , am I right ?

If you have some little bugs like corpse disappearing etc then do all this steps beginning from the vanilla game one
- 1 try on vanilla game , if you have the same bugs then it's up to beth to fix this , if you have no bugs then (2)
- 2 try with TesVal , do you have bugs ? if yes then post the bug here and mark it as "TesVal glitch" and provide the game save file where the bug can be represented , if you have no bugs then (3)
- 3 try with SkyBoost , do you have bugs ? if yes then post the bug here and mark it as "SkyBoost glitch" and provide the game save file where the bug can be represented , if you have no bugs then whats the problem ?

Sky Boost can be discussed here:

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1324092-sky-boost-by-alexander-blade/

Please direct all questions about that mod in that thread. We can continue discussion of TESVAL here.

I would like to reiterate my post from the old thread and ask that there be a unified effort here. Right now, it is rather disjointed and fragmented. And to be honest, I see reason for Alexander to give his version a different name. It turns into a competion at that point. An open source effort doesn't work by someone taking existing code, making a relatbiely minor bug fix and releaslng it under his own banner. Not saying Alexander is doing anything wrong. But I would like to see two great minds working together, rather than seperately.

I don't see why there necessarily has to be a unified effort. Two projects can be similar. One might turn out to be better or there could be pros and cons with both. I don't see how the community loses here... Choice is good.

What issues need to be dealt with for TESVAL? Is this stable for now? Is anyone working on further development? Did I make any mistakes in the readme?

Mine works, but I already said that. lol.

Poor Ysne58, you ended up with more work than you thought back when I asked if this was being posted on Nexus. It is much appreciated.

For the readme why not just copy/paste all the info on the header post here and info page at Nexus, It's more info than is currently there and is complete.

What *should* happen is that someone at gamesas sees this, and sets the optimisation flags for the PC build.
You're funny.

Is it safe to assume other, similar code optimizations could be done for additional fps gains?

Poor Ysne58, you ended up with more work than you though back when I asked if this was being posted on Nexus. It is much appreciated.

I have also learned a tremendous amount. Thank you for the appreciation. The success this mod is experiencing would not be possible without the support of this wonderful community.

Yes. I believe Alex Blade added a few improvements in SkyBoost. Arisu just fixed the most obvious and glaring CPU-killers.

I believe that this is being looked at by some people.

I just received a pm from Locaster over on Nexus requesting permission to post about this mod on his blog. I did ask him to remind everyone that I am not the actual author of this mod and did give him permission to make a post. His blog is here and he does not appear to be doing anything more than talking about mods and then sending them to the link on Nexus about the mod.

He's putting them on uploading.com. Some may not like this.

Attention I have permission from all authors posted here, and permission to publish elsewhere must be requested them for authors!

I just posted this to his blog.

When he contacted me he said that he would be linking to Nexus. I'm sure that is what he did with the other mods he has posted and has claimed permission for.

You do not have permission to re-upload these mods. You falsely stated to me that you would not be uploading these mods and here you are uploading them to uploading.com.

No, all the other mods I've been looking at have uploading.com links so far.

He could legally post this one because it is open source. I did report the pm on Nexus with a link to his blog. I'm sure he will claim that he didn't understand or I didn't understand because of the language barrier.

Getting back on topic, does anyone have plans for further improvements? Are we all waiting for the next patch to come out to see what happens?

Huh? But nothing gives you permission to have exclusive upload rights!
It's a "totally free anyone can do whatever they want with the code" type of situation, said by Arisu who created it!

Just a reminder, because these threads only go up to 200 posts, I am reporting and requesting off topic posts to be removed when they start to get out of control, especially when those posts contain inaccurate quotes or appear to be heading to flaming and incivility.

I am not seeing any new reports of issues on the Nexus thread. I will keep watching it. Most of the people downloading it seem to be pretty happy with it.

Hi everyone,

Short question: Does this mod block Steam achievements? I think I should get one yesterday while playing on this mod but I didn't get it (Sneaky tongue). Anyone else noticed it?

Is there any chance or hope of this mod maybe being ported to New Vegas?
