TESV, Collector's Edition, Merchandising, RPG

gamesas, please consider stepping up your game for this 5th installement of Elderscrolls when it comes to merchanding and the Collector's Edition.

I've been playing since Daggerfall, and I think you have done a decent job on this front but your series is now friggan huge. You are in the big leagues now and you can match Blizzard on this front.

Morrowind Collector's Edition was nice, in fact I think it was better than Oblivion because you got...
-soundtrack cd
-Ordinator miniature (very iconic, I still love those guys)
-artbook (adequete for its time, but really pales compared to days 200 page hardcover cloth bound bonus by Blizzard)

Oblivion was not as good on this front.
-Pocket Guide was awesome and worth the extra $10
-no soundtrack cd? Huge mistake in my opinion
-no artbook (again, its time for you to give us the 200 page hardcover clothbound like Blizzard)
-pewter coin. It's ok I guess, but something much more iconic like the ordinator is what you need for Skyrim. How about a dragon miniature?

For Skyrim, I am sure I am not alone in thinking you need to make the ultimate collector's edition. I'd gladly pay they extra $30 or $40 so that you can make a quality package like Blizzard does.

1. soundtrack cd (not download) with artwork (digipack, mini-vinyl sleeve, or jewelcase)
2. hardcover artbook. clothbound. 150-200 pages, with dust-jacket
3. cloth map (Elder Scrolls NEEDS this)
4. iconic miniature that represents Skyrim. it's looking like a dragon will be your choice here.

As for merchandising, I think you should consider licensing Elderscrolls out to become a pen&paper RPG. Elderscrolls would be perfect for that!

Love the Oblivion hoody I got from you 5 years ago! More of that would be nice as well!

Please consider these ideas rather than the run of the mill CE that everyone else does. $10 extra for some crappy making of DVD that you will only watch once, and alternate cover, and exclusive horse-armer are not worthy of Elder Scrolls!

I'd like to see a making of DVD included in the collectors edition...

EDIT: I'd also like to see some sort of awesome preorder bonus, like an exclusive quest that leads to a unique artifact that can only be obtained through the preorder

Set your goals low, and you will always succeed. That stuff is common, run of the mill, and happens with 95% of these. You don't even have to ask for it.

Shoot higher my friend!

I completely agree. There are not many games that I'm willing to buy the super collectors edition of, but Elder Scrolls is one.
Personally, I have $100 set back right now at the ready. As for merchandise I definitely want to see this expanded upon. I never did get a chance to buy any of the Oblivion stuff

That would be pretty sweet.

And the other suggestions, too. I'd buy that.

This should ALWAYS be included!! I LOVE knowing what into the making the game. Always find the audio/sound design interesting.. and art/story boards.

My favorite part of the Oblivion dvd was the Tester sitting on a big fluffy couch.. in front of a huge tv taking about how "hard" his job is!! LOL would love that job.. :celebration:

I actually really like the coin from the OB collector's edition. It's a "real" item, feels like it came straight from the world. It's on my desk right now, I tend to flip it over in my hands when I'm thinking. Then my hand gets that old coin smell...I'd be concerned that if the had a dragon statue it would look like a trinket from a new-age store. All they'd need to do is have him clutch a "crystal" ball in his talons.

Let's go even further!!! I want this all included into the standard edition of the game and no more collectors edition!!!

Really I think if they would put this all ( or atleast some things ) into the standard edition they would get alot more appreciation, thus more respect, thus more fans. I wonder if producers will ever see this.

Now that is what I am talking about!!! Some high-quality parchment or cloth material rolled into as scroll! Hell yes!!!

I'll most definitely buy the collector's edition if they make one. I'd be very happy if they included a soundtrack-cd since ES soundtracks are epic, I love listening to them. A making of-DVD is not a bad idea either, it would be interesting to see how they've been working with the game. And of course it would be sweet with a cloth-map/scroll and/or a figure of just about any cool artifact that represents the game.

We want a Skyrim collector's edition!

The best idea I heard would have to be the cloth map scroll. A replica dagger/weapon would be pretty cheesy IMO, but the map idea is very original.

There has to be some sort of collectable. I would prefer something more substantial than a coin. I like the idea of an engraved dagger replica, that would be awesome. :celebration:

I'm definately getting the collectors edition so a big box of treats to go along with my shiny copy of Skyrim would be lovely :hehe:
As for merchandise, nice warm winter hoodies please, gets awful cold up here.

I propose 3 editions a la Halo and Call of Mediocrity:

1) Standard: Comes with the game and soundtrack (because the music in Elder Scrolls is ALWAYS epic)

2) Special Edition: Game, cloth map, art book, lore book, Dragon Miniature, and soundtrack

3) The Dovahkiin Edition: (This is where worlds will be rocked and sixual organs become active). This edition incudes: Awesome case (none of this steelbook nonsence, I'm picturing something even more epic looking in a fold-out mural style), soundtrack, cloth map, art/lore book which would be hardcover and include more stuff than the Special Edition, and - wait for it - a reproduction of an Elder Scroll in the original runic style language in a velvet bag, with the scroll sealed in a wax-like reproduction. In the bag you'd find reproduced "tools" that were used to read the scroll and a translation journal from whomever translated the Elder Scroll's prophecies.

Note that the Dovahkiin edition DOES NOT include the miniature - in order to give the special edition people something to appreciate and that their editions aren't just stripped down versions of something better.

What do you guys think? :D

I might buy the collectors edition if it has some of these:

A sweet map
pocket guide/art book
making of DVD

the making of DVD could be epic. I don't know if I'm weird or not, ok I do know that, but I imagine I would thoroughly enjoy listening to interviews all up and down the entire staff. Hearing them chat about what they do, things they messed with in the game, maybe some disaster they had, the tech, how they came about some idea/feature in the game, in jokes around the studio.

Who are those Devs that are responsible for making videos? Just set them loose in the studio and annoy everyone over a few weeks by poking a camera into their face...
