Welcome to TES V Ideas and Suggestions # 137

This thread is for ideas and suggestions for TES:V and to keep all the general discussion in one series of threads.

To discuss major issues, use a separate topic, such as the levelling topic.

Other general topics on this will either be closed or moved here.

Please at least try to read the previous few threads to avoid too much repetition:

I'd really like to see all the lesser Daedra in ESV that weren't in Oblivion. Ogrims, etc. Make sure Hungers and Golden Saints get back in as well.

The saints were in oblivion. In the Shivering Isles they were Sheogoraths servants/soldiers along with dark seducers

Yes I know. But they weren't included in the vanilla game. I want to see them all return.

I don't mind if they don't use Euphoria. It's likely they'll do motion capture, and that's fine by me. As long as the animations look fine and transition fine.

Weeeellll on that look at Morrowind and Oblivion... those really weren't fine anyimations and i doubt they used motion capture. And as far as i can see it that trend continued in Fallout 3 and even the animations in WET looked quite stiff and choppy.

Someone before recently mentioned going to a motion capture studio, and learned that a "really awesome game studio in Maryland with an unannounced game" was doing motion capture. So, I think it's a likely chance that Bethesda is doing that. Besides, Todd Howard said on G4 that they wanted to make AI feel more natural for their next project, as they felt that AI behavior in Fallout 3 still felt unnatural.

Sounds good, though i still kinda hope they'll go for natural motion, after all it doesn't just make anyimations mroe adaptive it also make "ragdolls" behave better... like actual bodies and not sacks of crap tied togehter.

PS: Why the hell do i keep writing "anyimations" :P

I'd like the setting to be all of Tamriel. Skyrim, High Rock, Hammerfell, Summerset Isle, Valenwood, Elsweyr, Black Marsh, Morrowind, Cyrodiil.

At the moment I think that we don't have the tech or processors to make the whole of Tamriel with lots of diverse landscapes, character etc.
That's why Bethesda are making one province for each game, although having the whole of Tamriel would be a good idea, maybe it will be in future TES games

ARENA already has done this in the past, but thats not to say that having all of tameriel as a setting is not impossible I'm sure there'll be a time and some great ideas to make this happen, but as stated I doubt the tech can do all settings at the moement unless the devs really cut all the areas down in size, but that might ruin the fun. Personally I'd rather see a plot in every province first before we have a whole tamriel setting.

I really want them to use Euphoria as it makes things easier for modders too. It's kind of the same as some peoples arguments for voice acting vs. no voice acting. Mods still have to create all those animations if they want a sucessful mod and that can be very difficult.

Yes I know but ARENA had loads of bugs and not the most attention to detail, and there wasn't much lore then so all the provinces didn't look as they should now.

Give bits of unique dialogue between certain NPCs, such as a husband and wife.

What did you guys think about the HP system in Fallout 3?

For those that don't know, in Fallout 3 your HP was solely dependent on your Endurance attribute, and was not time-dependent, as opposed to Oblivion where you had to max out Endurance as early as possible to get the highest level of HP.

So which system do you guys prefer, Oblivion or Fallout 3?

You know, I kind of liked Fallout's character sheet system. I kind of like that your attributes are more or less fixed, and represent your raw potential, rather than increasing over time. I would like to see regional HP stats, like arms, legs, torso and head.

Hmm.. I don't know about attributes being fixed, but I think I do like that your HP is not time-dependent.

Hey, what about First Aid? Or does health potions negate this?

Like, I'd like to suture my own wounds, pop my arms back into place, remove an arrow from my skin, ect. Somewhat like dark Corners of the Earth or Farcry 2.

I think the Medicine skill should make a return from Daggerfall.

There was one thing that never sat right with me in Oblivion. The fact that, during a massive crisis in which an ENTIRE CITY was destroyed some people STILL find a reason to casually walk between towns as if their entire way of life wasn't crumbling before them.

The main reason I used Fast Travel in Oblivion was because I was tired of encountering dead bodies of people who I'd eventually need later on, such as Trainers. I'm not sure on how the system works, but I think that say, if you're in Colovia, then Blackwood stays exactly the same, but NPCs in nearby villages have a chance of being attacked by Mountain Lions. The way I figured it, if I fast traveled, then Minotaurs and Bandits wouldn't exist. Or that Shrum-Gro-Yarug wouldn't fall of the bridge to Castle Skingrad.

Realistically speaking, of course the people are going to want to interact with people in other cities, so why not introduce a mail system? Generic NPCs that serve to make the world feel more real as they run throughout the province. It'll explain how news seems to go around in Tamriel.

The Main Roads should be heavily guarded, especially after the hell that was the Oblivion Crisis. There should be Guard Towers and small hop-able wooden fences that separate you from the safety and comfort of the road or the adventure (and danger) on the outside. If you want to RP as a bandit, you can choose to take a risk and attack a Trade Caravan and hope that you can fight off or outrun the Guard, or you can hang around the less-used ones and go for some easy kills, at the expense of the money you've made at the end of the day.

I'm not really so sure on the last part, it would kind of make the game seem easier or maybe it would the ruin the feeling of adventuring in the game.

Well I do see couriers on horses on the main roads alot. What about a system similar to what the historical Templar Knights implemented? They served as a banking institution as well as protecting travelers/pilgrims. They set up a system, where a person could give a Templar in Europe a bunch of gold, in exchange for a piece of paper that the traveler could trade in for gold when they reached their destination in the Middle East.

I'm pretty sure a system like this was also in Daggerfall.

Yeah, I remember now: The Black Horse Courier. They usually went by so fast you could barely get a glimpse of them :P
They didn't have much to say, and they were a Newspaper Service, not really a Private Messaging system. They could serve as an alternative way to starting and ending quests, rather than having to run back to your Guild Superior.

I don't see anything wrong with a system similar to to the one you suggested, but as far as I know the Empire only has one currency.

I hope there aren't guns. Throwing Lighting at someone seems more effective then shooting them
