Text Being Cut From Screen

Post » Sun Oct 30, 2016 4:17 pm

When I received Skyrim Special Edition on my PS4, I noticed that text was being cut of the screen. I researched into it and learnt that it was to do with overscan on your TV, but unfortunately my TV does not have an option to disable overscan. There was no option in my TV or PS4 settings that could fix this bug, so I wrote to Bethesda support. This is what I sent:

" I am having problems with the resolution of Skyrim Special Edition on PS4. On my TV some of the text is cut off the screen when I'm in inventory menus e.c.t, and when I got a notification in the top left/right hand of my screen (e.g "Autosaving...", or "Letter received from Feandal"). It is extremely frustrating and there is no option in the game to scale the display areas. I have heard that this is an overscaling issue with your TV, and I have fiddled around with all the possible TV settings on my TV yet nothing has worked. There is also no option to disable overscaling. I plugged my PS4 into my monitor and there was no problem, yet when I plugged my PS4 into an even older TV (the one I am currently using is a 3-4 year old SONIQ TV) the same issue occured. I would believe that this a TV problem, except for the fact that I do not experience this problem at all in any other game or ANYTHING that I'm doing on my Tv EXCEPT for Skyrim Special edition. I do not believe that I should have to buy a new TV just to play Skyrim on my PS4 that works fine on the TV I use with every single other game out there. I am assuming this is a glitch, if its a case of "oh your TV is to old" I will happily send the game back."

After sending a few emails back and forth with them, they sent me this email:

"Hey there,

Thank you for contacting The gamesas Support Team regarding your issue with Skyrim SE.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. It is being worked on by our developers. Once a fix has been made it will be published and an update will be sent to all systems. But if you want to help speed this along, feel free to post your issue on the forums, where the developers read the feedback from the player directly. The more information we have on this issue, the quicker it will be resolved. In the mean time, I ask you to please bare with us, as this game just being launched, and a fix may take a little time to be made. But once it is made, it will be posted on the Forums, and patch will be downloaded onto all consoles"

I know that a number of people have been experiencing this problem, and from the forums I have read lots of these people were afraid that they would have to buy a new TV. Hopefully this will clear everything up, now that Bethesda has said that they are aware of this issue and are working towards fixing it. Now all the people like me that are experiencing this problem don't have to wait to long until we are issued a patch.

The overscan might be called something else in your tv settings. Does it say anywhere 1:1, Full, Auto or some other setting.

Maybe giving us the model # and the brand of your TV we might be able to see what settings need to be changed.
