Texture replacers come in two main forms:
1) A dummy ESP/ESM with a BSA file
2) Loose files
The first one has the advantage of being easier to manage but takes up a plugin slot. With the second one, one has to manually manage the install order and be wary of the fact that loose files override the files in BSAs. As a result, they may need to extract some BSAs if they're using other replacers for things to function as they wish. However, the second method doesn't use a plugin slot.
